부모의 학대 및 방임과 학령기 아동의 또래애착이 휴대전화 의존에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Parental Abuse and Neglect, and Children's Peer Attachment, on Mobile Phone Dependency)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of parental abuse and neglect, as well as that of children's peer attachment, on mobile phone dependency. Data were obtained from the Korean Child-Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS), and the participants were 1,892 (909 boys, 983 girls) elementary students (5th graders) who had a mobile phone. To measure the variables, this study used such scales as the parental abuse and neglect scale, peer attachment scale, and mobile phone dependency scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and structural equation modeling analysis. The results of the study were as follows: First, parental abuse and neglect had direct negative effects on children's peer attachment; that is, the more parental abuse and neglect, the less children's peer attachment. Second, parental abuse and neglect had direct positive effects on mobile phone dependency; that is, the more parental abuse and neglect, the greater children's mobile phone dependency. However, children's peer attachment did not directly affect mobile phone dependency; that is, children's peer attachment did not have a mediating effect between parental abuse and neglect, and mobile phone dependency. In conclusion, parental abuse and neglect influence children's peer attachment and mobile phone dependency. Thus this study showed that parental abuse and neglect, rather than children's peer attachment, affect children's mobile phone dependency.

아동이 지각한 부모의 성취지향적 양육태도가 자아탄력성을 매개로 학교생활적응과 학업성취도에 미치는 영향 (The Mediating Effects of Ego-Resilience on Achievement-Oriented Parenting Style, School Adjustment and Academic Achievement as Perceived by Children)

  • This study examined the relationships among children's perspectives on achievement-oriented parenting style, ego-resilience, school adjustment, and academic achievement. In order to analyze the associations, the study conducted a secondary analysis of the data found in the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) 2010-2011, which was a non-randomized controlled study designed with a longitudinal follow-up. We analyzed 1,212 students who were in the fourth and fifth grade at elementary school with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results were as follows. First, higher achievement-oriented parenting style was associated with higher ego-resilience that contributed to higher academic achievement and higher school adjustment. Second, higher achievement-oriented parenting style was directly related to lower academic achievement and lower school adjustment. The findings support that children's ego-resilience is an important factor to improve school adjustment and academic achievement. In addition, the achievement-oriented parenting style is not helpful for their children's school outcomes (such as academic achievement and adjustment) even though parenting style improved their children's ego-resilience. Ego-resilience that is developed by achievement-oriented parenting style is likely to enhance children's school adjustment and academic achievement. The study presents policy and practice implications, limitations and areas for further research.

아동의 학교결석일 변화에 영향을 미치는 생태체계요인에 관한 종단연구 - 패널고정효과모형을 활용하여 - (A Longitudinal Study of the Ecological-Systemic Factors on School Absenteeism in South Korean Children - A Panel Fixed Effects Analysis -)

  • 학교결석은 학업중단이나 비행 범죄에 대한 잠정적인 조기 예측요인으로 그 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 생태체계적 관점을 토대로 시간의 흐름에 따라 아동의 학교결석일에 영향을 미치는 다양한 보호요인과 위험요인을 경험적으로 검증하였다. 이를 위해 한국아동 청소년패널조사에서 초4 패널의 2차년도와 3차년도의 자료를 활용하였으며, 초등학교 2,378명을 대상으로 패널회귀분석의 고정효과모형을 적용하였다. 분석결과, 아동의 컴퓨터 사용시간, 부모의 학대, 학교활동참여정도, 학업성적이 학교결석일 변화에 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 컴퓨터 사용시간, 부모의 학대는 학교결석에 위험요인으로 작용하였으며, 학교활동참여와 학업성적은 학교결석에 보호요인으로 작용하였다. 이러한 연구결과들을 바탕으로 우리나라 아동 청소년 문제에 대한 예방적 접근의 필요성을 강조하고 학교결석에 대한 체계적인 모니터링 시스템 구축의 필요성을 제언하였다.

청소년의 자아존중감과 환경특성이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향 : 긍정적 자아평가와 부정적 자아평가의 조절효과 (An Influence of Adolescent's Self-Esteem and Environmental Characteristics on Life Satisfaction : Moderating Effect of Positive Self-Evaluation and Negative Self-Evaluation)

  • 본 연구는 한국청소년정책연구원에서 제공하는 한국아동 청소년 패널조사(Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey) 3차년도(2012) 자료를 이용하여, 중학교 3학년 2,040명의 자아존중감과 환경변수들이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 개인특성으로서 자아존중감을 긍정적 자아와 부정적 자아에 대한 평가라는 별개의 두 차원으로 구분하였을 때, 환경특성이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향에 대한 두 평가수준의 조절효과가 존재하였다. 자아존중감을 두 평가차원의 수준에 따라 4개의 집단으로 구분하여 환경특성(부모, 친구, 학교)이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향에 대한 경로분석을 수행한 결과, 긍정적 자아에 대한 평가가 높은 집단들은 그렇지 않은 집단에 비해 더 많은 경로에서 유기적인 관련성을 보였다. 또한 부정적 자아에 대한 평가가 높은 집단의 경우, 긍정적 자아에 대한 평가가 높을 때 부정적 자아가 삶의 만족도에 미치는 음(-)의 영향을 상쇄하였다. 이러한 결과는 청소년의 자아존중감을 단일 차원의 개념이 아닌, 긍정적 자아와 부정적 자아에 대한 평가라는 두 차원으로 구분하여 분석할 필요성을 제시한다. 부정적 자아에 대한 낮은 평가가 반드시 긍정적 자아에 대한 높은 평가를 의미하는 것은 아니기 때문에, 청소년 심리 상담에 있어 부정적 자아 형성의 문제 해결과 함께 긍정적 자아 형성을 위한 방안이 모색되어야 한다는 것을 시사한다.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify the sequential mediating effects of grit and depression on the relationship between negative parenting style and functional somatic symptoms. Methods: This was a secondary analysis of data from the 2018 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS). Mediation analysis was conducted using the PROCESS macro model 6. Results: The mediating effects of grit and depression between negative parenting style and functional somatic symptoms were significant. A negative parenting style was found to significantly affect functional somatic symptoms going through sequential mediating effects of grit and depression. Conclusion: To alleviate functional somatic symptoms in adolescents, it is necessary to provide interventions for developing grit that could reduce depression.

청소년의 학업무기력이 스마트폰 의존에 미치는 영향: 자아존중감과 친구관계의 병렬매개효과 검증 (The Effect of Adolescents' Academic Helplessness on Smartphone Dependence: Verifying the Parallel Mediating Effect of Self-esteem and Friendships)

  • 본 연구는 청소년의 학업무기력과 스마트폰 의존의 관계를 파악하고 자아존중감과 친구관계의 병렬매개효과를 검증하였다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원에서 수행한 한국아동·청소년 패널조사 2018(KCYPS) 4차 자료를 활용하였으며, 조사에 응답한 청소년 중 무응답 및 이상 값 346명을 제거한 뒤 2,244명을 분석에 활용하였다. 자료분석을 위해 통계패키지 프로그램 SPSS WIN 25.0과 Hayes(2013)의 PROCESS Macro V 3.5를 활용하였으며, 다음과 같은 결과를 도출했다. 첫째, 청소년의 학업무기력은 스마트폰 의존에 정(+)적인 영향이 나타났다. 둘째, 청소년의 학업무기력과 스마트폰 의존의 관계에서 자아존중감은 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 청소년의 학업무기력과 스마트폰 의존의 관계에서 친구관계는 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 토대로 청소년의 스마트폰 의존을 감소시키기 위한 실천적·정책적 제언과 연구의 한계점을 극복하기 위한 후속 연구를 제안했다.

주 양육자의 삶의 만족도와 학령기 아동의 자아존중감과 우울 간의 종단연구 (A Longitudinal Study between Main Caregivers' Life Satisfaction and Self-esteem and Depression of School-aged Children)

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the longitudinal relationship between main caregivers' life satisfaction and depression and self-esteem of school-aged children, and to provide plans for improving the lives of the school-aged children. For this purpose, we analyzed the three years'longitudinal panel data (2011-2013) of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) including 2,342 first grade elementary school children employing the latent growth model using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 22.0. Analysis results were as follows. First, main caregivers'life satisfaction and school-aged children's depression increased as time passes and linear change model was selected. Second, the initial status of main caregivers'life satisfaction had effects on the initial status of their children's depression, but initial status and rates of change of life satisfaction did not have an influence on the rates of change of the depression. However, it was found that the main caregivers' life satisfaction had effects on the school-aged children's self-esteem and it worked as a mediator on the longitudinal relationship between the main caregivers'life satisfaction and the children's depression. School-aged children's self-esteem was a partial mediator on the initial status of their depression and full mediator on these rates of change. These findings suggests that programs improving school-aged children's self-esteem should be developed.

아동의 성별 휴대전화 의존도와 사용 목적별 사용 수준, 개인적 및 대인관계 발달간의 관계 분석 (An Analysis of the Relations among Cellular Phone Dependency, Its Use Levels of Usage Purposes, and Individual and Interpersonal Relations Development in Children by Gender)

  • The aim of this study was to identify the differences in cellular phone dependency and its use levels of usage purposes according to children's gender, and also to analyze the differences in individual and interpersonal relations development due to cellular phone dependency in children based on gender. Using the first year data of the Korean Child and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) 2010, this study analyzed 1,604 fourth graders who have their own cellular phones. For statistical analysis, descriptive statistics were calculated and mean difference analyses were conducted. The results showed that there was no difference between boys and girls in cellular phone dependency. The girls' total phone use level was higher than that of boys and meaningful gender differences in the phone use levels were found in the five phone usage purposes. In both boys and girls, the higher phone dependency groups demonstrated higher levels of phone use in more than eight usage purposes, lower self-resilience and self-regulating learning ability, and less positive peer and teacher relations. These findings show the importance of being concerned about and educating children in the fourth grade about the proper uses of cellular phones.

초중고생의 수면 시간이 부모양육태도의 매개를 통해 학교적응에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Sleep Duration on Youth School Adjustment Mediated by Parenting Behavior)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between sleep duration and school adjustment of elementary-, middle-, high-school youth and to verify the mediating effects of parenting behavior. Methods: We analyzed the data from Wave 4 of the first-grade panel of elementary school and Waves 1 and 4 of the first-grade panel of middle school in Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS), including 1,703 fourth graders, 2,119 seventh graders, and 2,108 tenth graders. Multiple regression was used for the data analyses. Results: The results of this study were as follows. First, longer sleep duration was associated with a higher level of school adjustment in fourth grade. In contrast, longer sleep duration was associated with a lower level of school adjustment in seventh and tenth grades. Second, longer sleep duration was related to a higher level of discipline through reasoning in fourth grade. However, longer sleep duration was related to a lower level of parental monitoring in seventh and tenth grades. Third, the relationship between sleep duration and school adjustment was mediated by parenting behavior. Discipline through reasoning had a mediating effect in fourth grade, but the mediating effect of parental monitoring was found in seventh and tenth grades. Conclusion: These results suggest a differentiated approach on sleep duration in accordance with developmental stage and the need for parent education.

  • 본 연구는 한국청소년정책연구원에서 제공한 아동청소년패널 2018, 초4와 중1 패널 1차 데이터를 사용하여 아동·청소년기 부모와 자녀의 자존감과 행복감의 인과관계를 확인하였다. 분석 맥락은 부모의 자존감과 행복감이 양육태도 미치는 영향, 더 나아가 자녀의 학업활동, 자존감 그리고 행복감에 미치는 영향을 확인하는 것이다. 자존감과 행복감은 상호작용 요인이기 때문에 부모의 자존감과 행복감을 외생변수로 투입하여 상관관계로 확인하였으며, 자녀의 자존감과 행복감에 미치는 영향은 인과관계로 검증하였다. 본 연구는 아동·청소년기 정신건강 척도인 자존감과 행복감이 부모의 자존감과 행복감과 어떻게 연계되었는지 탐색할 수 있다. 또한 아동·청소년기 건강한 발달을 도모 하는데있어 가정 배경인 부모역할의 중요성을 확인할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
