유기한우 생산 및 유통실태에 관한 사례연구 (A Case Study on Production and Distribution Situations of Korean Organic Beef Cattle)

  • This study focused on production and distribution situations of Korean organic beef cattle at Hongseong Chungnam. Case Farmers have raised cattle organically based on interchange between a few Consumers' Life Cooperatives(CLC) and them. CLC furnished with funding to purchase calves and bought the cattle beef. However, they have many problems related to procuring organic feed in producing organic beef. Presently, they have used organic byproducts from sowing farming and prepared grass places. But they don't breed organic beef cattle in a large scale because of the limitation of organic feed output.

  • Cytogenetic and hematological analysis was performed in peripheral blood from the cattle associated with abnormal delivery around nuclear power plant area. The frequency of micronuclei (MN) in peripheral blood lymphocytes from cattle was used as a biomarker of radiobiological effects resulting from exposure to environmental radiation. An estimated dose of radiation was calculated by best fitting linear-quadratic model based on the radiation-induced MN data over the range from 0 Gy to 4 Gy from the bovine lymphocytes with in vitro irradiation. MN rates in live malformed calf, dams of malformed calves and other cattle living in the same barn from the regions around nuclear power plant, and cattle in control area were 9/1000, 10.8/1000, 13.3/1000 and 10.0/1000, respectively. There were no significant differences in MN frequencies and hematological values between the cattle associated with abnormal delivery around nuclear power plant area and those of control area. This study indicates that the congenital abnormalities near nuclear power plant seemed to be caused by other aetiology.

Real-Time Cattle Action Recognition for Estrus Detection

  • In this paper, we present a real-time cattle action recognition algorithm to detect the estrus phase of cattle from a live video stream. In order to classify cattle movement, specifically, to detect the mounting action, the most observable sign of the estrus phase, a simple yet effective feature description exploiting motion history images (MHI) is designed. By learning the proposed features using the support vector machine framework, various representative cattle actions, such as mounting, walking, tail wagging, and foot stamping, can be recognized robustly in complex scenes. Thanks to low complexity of the proposed action recognition algorithm, multiple cattle in three enclosures can be monitored simultaneously using a single fisheye camera. Through extensive experiments with real video streams, we confirmed that the proposed algorithm outperforms a conventional human action recognition algorithm by 18% in terms of recognition accuracy even with much smaller dimensional feature description.

  • Enteritis occured in a herd of Korean native cattle in Gyeonbug district in February 1977. of 40 cattle ranging in age from 15 to 20 months, 17 had been sick for the past six days with main clinical findings of feces containing mucus and blood. Among affected cattle, feces of 8 cattle were examined bacteriologically and parasitologically to investigate the causative agent. The disease was diagnosed as bovine coccidiosis caused by Eimeria zurnii based on the detection of $o{\ddot{o}}cysts$ and one of cattle was infected E. bukidnonensis, too.

새만금 경축순환농업단지의 적정 가축 사육두수와 조사료 재배면적의 관계 분석 (Relationship Between the Number of Livestock and the Area of Forage Crop of Saemangeum Crop-livestock Complex)

  • The suitable area of forage crop field was calculated under the assumption that all of the liquied manure would be used to nutrient of crops at the Saemangeum crop-livestock complex. At first, Korean cattle and dairy cattle were selected and swine was excluded becausr of high pollution availability. When forage crop was calculated from nutrient amounts of manure of livestocks and standard applicable fertilizer quantity to the selected forage crops, 232ha (278ha including infrastructure part) was determined to be appropriate in case of 2500 heads of Korean cattle and 300 heads of dairy cattle were raised. From the result by that calculated ares (232ha) to forage crop feeding could be possible to the Korean cattle and dairy cattle feeding using TDN index, more than 217ha of forage crop fields would be satisfied nutritionally.

  • This paper is aimed to prevent danger of electrical fire at cattle barn to detect resistive and capacitive leakage current component for wiring type and length. In order to analysis for electric leakage component for cattle barn sizes and normal buildings, this paper was studied field state investigation which are at cattle barn companies(10 companies) in Cheong-won location and normal buildings at Nam-bu market in Jeon-ju location. Market to deduce the problems of electric leakage component is analyzed. The resistive and capacitive leakage current component for wiring type and length is analyzed at Beon-young cattle barn. Results show that electric leakage component suggested in this paper are valuable and usable to electrical fire in leakage current based on environment factor, which will prevent severe damage to human beings and properties and reduce the electrical fires in cattle barn. It is acceptable for electrical equipment use in an cattle barn.

유우(乳牛) 백혈병(白血病)바이러스에 대(對)한 혈청항체(血淸抗體) 조사(調査) (Survey for Antibodies to Bovine Leukemia Virus in Dairy Cattle)

  • This paper described the distribution and transmissibility of BLV(bovine leukemia virus), the relationship between antibodies against BLV and lymphocyte count in 313 dairy cattle from 36 herds, the clinical signs and hematological findings of 2 lymphosarcomatous cattle in the northern area of Kyungpook. Eighty three (26.5%) of 313 cattle from 36 herds were positive for BLV antibodies and 19 (52.8%) of 36 herds were infected with BLV by the immunodiffusion test with BLV-gp antigen. The rate of BLV infection in cattle varied from 9.5 to 87.5% in 19 positive herds, it was higher in herds pastured during summer and included lymphosarcomatous onset than the other and also higher with the age. Eight (88.9%) out of 9 cattle which showed persistent lymphocytosis by the hematological test were positive for BLV antibodies. After 5 to 14 months, 13 (31.0%) of 42 cattle being negative for BLV antibodies in the positive herds converted into positive. Two lymphosarcomatous cattle were identified to be EBL (enzootic bovine leukemia) by the clinical sign, hematological examination and serological test.

가축분뇨의 시용시기와 희석이 목초의 건물생산에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Application Times and Dilution of Cattle Slurry on Orchardgrass (Dactyljs glomerata L.))

  • The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effects of applying times and dilution rates of cattle slurry on dry matter yields of orchard grass. Cattle slurry was applied at the rates of average mineral nitrogen fertilizer equivalent to 150 kg/ha/year in 3 cutting frequency. Significantly higher dry matter yields than that of no fertilization (3.04 ton DM/ha) were recorded in the application of diluted cattle slurry(5.38~6.25 ton DM/ha) (p<0.05). Especially, this tendency was shown with higher annual dry matter yields at the partitioned dressing times, such as at the applications for 1st and 2nd growth, 1st and 3rd growth, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd growth respectively. The yields of annual dry matter both at fertilizing phosphorus and potassium, and phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen were higher than no fertilization as 5.41 tons and 8.78 tons per ha respectively. However, with application of diluted cattle slurry, dry matter yield par year (5.84 ton DM/ha) was higher than those of fertilizing phosphorus and potassium. The efficiencies of dry matter production with mineral and cattle slurry nitrogen application (kg DM/kg N) were 225 and 15.8~18.7 kg DM/kg N respectively. Especially, these tendencies were higher in diluted application plots than in no-diluted application plots of cattle slurry.

Vermicomposting에 의한 우분과 음식물쓰레기의 처리에 관한 연구 (A Study of Treatment of Cattle Manure and Food Waste by Vermicomposting)

  • This research was made to determine the optimum mixing ratio cattle manure and food waste investigating the effect that gets the growth and reproductive efficiency of earthworm and productivity of earthworm casts at processing process when handled cattle manure and food waste by vermicomposting, in order to establish the treatment system of organic wastes by vermicomposting. Survival ratio of earthworm was highest in the mixing ratio 80~100% : 20~0% of cattle manure and food Waste, and the increasing ratio was highest in cattle manure 100%, and the number of young worms, the weight of young worms and the productivity of earthworm casts in plots more than the mixing ratio 60% of cattle manure were significantly higher than in the other treatment plots(p<0.05). Total nitrogen and carbon contents in earthworm cast were decreased when rearing time of earthworm was increased. Carbon and nitrogen rate(C/N) of earthworm cast in plots more than the mixing ratio 80% of cattle manure was significantly higher than in the other treatment plots(p<0.05). pH in earthworm cast was higher than that in residual matter. The contents of electrolytic conductivity in the higher mixing ratio of food waste were significantly higher than those in the other treatment plots(p<0.05).

국내 도축우의 외상성제2위질병 발생실태와 육질등급에 미치는 영향 (A survey of traumatic reticular diseases in Korea and the effects on beef quality grade)

  • This study surveyed the prevalence of traumatic reticular diseases (TRD) of slaughter cattle in Korea, the typology of the causative foreign bodies and the effects on beef quality and carcass weight. The overall prevalence of TRD in 3,121 slaughter cattle was 5.5%. However, the prevalence was significantly higher in Korea indigenous cattle Hanwoo (5.8%, p < 0.05) and female cattle (20.75%, p < 0.001). The prevalence significantly increased in aged cattle (p < 0.001). Major lesions related to foreign bodies were reticulitis (96%) and peritonitis (86%). Most causative foreign bodies were made of iron including nails, wires, steel rods, screw nails, and syringe needles. Cattle affected with TRD produced significantly lower grade quality of beef compared to normal cattle (p < 0.0001), but TRD did not affect carcass weight. The data will be useful in the management of TRD, with the aim of increasing beef productivity in Korea.
