중국과의 무역이 북한 경제성장률에 미치는 영향: 랴오닝성을 중심으로 (Effect of Trade with China on North Korean Economic growth: Focus on Liaoning)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the North Korea's net export to China and Liaoning on the North Korean economic growth. Design/methodology/approach - This study collects the data on the net export of North Korea to China and Liaoing from General Administration of Customs, People's Republic of China. Vector Autoregression(VAR) is also employed for the analysis. Findings - First, North Korea's net export to all of China and Liaoning gives the positive effect on North Korean economic growth. Second, the nuclear test of North Korea gives the negative effect on the North Korean economic growth. Third, the net export to China and Liaoning granger causes the North Korean economic growth. Lastly, the nuclear test of North Korea also granger causes the North Korean economic growth. Research implications or Originality - The estimation results show the net export of North Korea to China as well as Liaoning is important to the economic growth. Therefore, we need to examine North Korea's trades with specific region as well as all of China in order to enhance the North Korean economic growth.

북중 접경지역 단둥의 대북 생산 네트워크의 예외적 성격 (Exceptional Characteristics of Cross-border Production Networks in Dandong, North Korea-China Border Region)

  • 2000년대 후반 이후 북중 접경지역에 입지한 한국 투자기업은 북한의 핵실험 및 미사일 도발 행위에 대한 국제 사회 및 우리나라 독자적 대북 제재 조치로 인해 위탁가공 거래 단절과 탈입지를 경험하고 있다. 그러나 2013년 북중 접경지역에 출경가공무역 제도의 도입은 중국 내수 시장 기반의 대북 위탁가공 생산의 활성화를 가져왔다. 그 결과, 그동안 대북 위탁가공 거래에서 우리나라가 차지했던 역할을 중국기업들이 대신하면서 북중 접경지역의 대북위탁가공 네트워크의 지리는 더욱 복잡하게 형성되었다. 따라서 본 논문은 북중 접경지역 랴오닝성 단둥시에 입지하고 있는 대북 위탁가공 업체들을 사례로 이들의 대북 위탁가공 생산 네트워크의 특성을 분석함으로써 접경지역이 갖는 예외적 성격을 분석하였다. 기본적으로 대북 위탁가공 생산 네트워크의 형성은 북한의 양질의 저임금 노동력 활용하기 위해서이다. 이와 같은 네트워크 형성을 가능하게 한 요인은 크게 두 가지 측면에서 바라볼 수 있다. 첫째, 북중간 경제교류 강화와 북한을 개발의 대상으로 바라본 지경학적 요인이다. 예를 들어, 출경가공무역의 도입은 제3국 수출보다는 중국 내수 시장을 기반으로 하는 접경지역 기업에게 대북 위탁가공무역을 허용함으로써 이들 기업이 제도적으로 북한의 풍부한 양질의 저임금 노동력에 접근 가능하게 하였다. 둘째, 지경학적 수단을 통한 북한 체제 안정을 위한 지정학적 요인이다. 대북 위탁가공 생산 네트워크의 활성화는 북한의 외화벌이를 보장하기 때문에 북한이 체제의 완충국으로서 역할을 지속 가능하게 한다. 이는 체제의 완충국으로서 북한의 경제 및 체제 안정을 적극적으로 관리하기 위한 중국의 지전략적 의도가 반영된 것이라 할 수 있다. 다시 말해, 대북 위탁가공 네트워크는 지경학과 지정학이라는 두 가지 대비되는 담론적 실천에 의해 영향을 받고, 더 나아가 북중 접경지역의 공간경제 특성을 우연적이면서 다채로운 모습으로 그려낸다. 결론적으로 북중 접경지역은 각종 변경무역제도와 출경가공무역제도와 같이 자본과 노동의 이동성을 높여주는 예외적인 법률과 제도가 작동하는 공간이며, 대북 위탁가공을 통해서 북한의 양질의 노동력을 매우 낮은 비용으로 활용함으로써 잉여가치가 창출되는 착취의 공간적 특성이 나타난다.

Simple Denoising Method for Novel Speckle-shifting Ghost Imaging with Connected-region Labeling

  • A novel speckle-shifting ghost imaging (SSGI) technique is proposed in this paper. This method can effectively extract the edge of an unknown object without achieving its clear ghost image beforehand. However, owing to the imaging mechanism of SSGI, the imaging result generally contains serious noise. To solve the problem, we further propose a simple and effective method to remove noise from the speckle-shifting ghost image with a connected-region labeling (CRL) algorithm. In this method, two ghost images of an object are first generated according to SSGI. A threshold and the CRL are then used to remove noise from the imaging results in turn. This method can retrieve a high-quality image of an object with fewer measurements. Numerical simulations are carried out to verify the feasibility and effectiveness.

중국 연변 조선족의 고향별 한국 전통 명절 음식과 일상 음식의 선호도와 섭취 빈도 (Preference and Intake Frequencies of Traditional Korean Foods and Foods of National Holidays in the Yanbian Region of China)

  • This study was conduced to identify the preference and intake frequencies of traditional Korean foods by Chinese-Koreans in the Yanbian region of China based on the hometown of the female head of household. Data were collected from 261 Korean housewives living in Yanbian. Twenty-six kinds of daily food items were surveyed. Analysis of variance was used to compare the similarities and differences among the three groups, which were divided according to hometowns in North Korea, South Korea, and China. The results for the traditional Korean daily food preferences showed that housewives born in South Korea are more likely to prefer cereal soup, vegetables soup, and fermented rice punch than housewives from North Korea and China. Considering the intake frequencies of traditional Korean foods, Korean housewives born in China are more likely to eat boiled rice and a bun stuffed with seasoned meat and vegetables, as well as beef and vegetables cooked in a casserole than housewives with hometowns in South Korea and North Korean. In this article, similarities and differences in the preferences and intake frequencies of traditional Korean foods are discussed, and implications for nutritionists as well as food marketers are provided.

동북아시아 대기오염물질의 장거리 이동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Long-Range Transport of Air Pollutans in the North East Asia)

  • Due to the global-convection currents, transboundary transport of air pollutants is widely observed in many regions of the world. This study was carried out to investigate the pattern of long-range transport of air pollutants in North East Asia, especially the impact of air pollutants originated in China and Japan on the air quality in Korea. From the meteorological data at the 850 mb surface from May 1986 through April 1987 at 54 obsevation stations in the North East Asia region, the backward and forward trajectories were calculated using interpolation method. And the contributions of pollution sources in neighbor countries to the air quality in Korea were analyzed. It was concluded that air pollution in China had a great influence on the air quality in Korea throughout the year : it could be transported to Korea just within 2 or 3 days most of the time. The trajectory analysis showed that pollution sources in Beijing. Liaoning Province, and Shandong Province, the most heavily industrialized areas in China., were the most influential for the air quality in Korea except for summer season. Durnig summer season, the air pollution in Shanhai and Japan could have moer influence on Korea. Such transboundary transport of air pollutants necessitate international cowork and cooperation in the region of North East Asia.

  • The present world economic powers are divided into three major economic blocks such as EU, NAFTA and North - east Asian Region. In N-E Asian Region, Beijing. Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai are already bridged economically forming transaction belt with the population of seven hundred million people around the belt. The countries as China, Mongol far - east Russia are rich in natural resources. on the other hand Korea and Japan are superior in technological know-how than that of communist and socialist countries. If we try to be eager to join together with the resource rich countries to the countries of technological know - how as Korea and Japan. The North - east Asian region will be jumping up to the most prosperous and super economic power in the coming years in 2040-2050.

Rice Varieties Adaptable to the Temperature and Day-Length Conditions of the Major Rice Production Area in North Korea

  • The heading response of 40 genotypes, originated from South Korea, North Korea, and northern China, was tested under the temperature and day-length conditions of thirteen major rice production area in North Korea, with aims to select adaptable varieties to the given environment and crop period for each region. To simulate regional environment, seven-day mean temperature with 10℃ daily temperature range and day-length for each region were imposed at a weekly interval in the walk-in phytotrons. Olbyeo1, Olbyeo2 and Sonbong9 originated from North Korea, Kenjiandao3 and Nongdae3 from northern China, and Joun from South Korea demonstrated the earliest heading stage depending on the regional environment. Thirty-four varieties reached heading stage within the regional safe marginal heading date (SMHD) under Haeju and Sariwon conditions while 16-17 varieties reached the stage under Wonsan, Changjon, Supung, and Yongyon environment. Some of the middle and mid-late maturing varieties originated from South Korea could reach heading stage within SMHD under the temperature and day-length conditions of Kaesong, Haeju, Sariwon, Nampo, and Pyongyang located in west-southern plain. Majority of early maturing varieties, but not middle or mid-late ones, showed heading stage within SMHD under the conditions of Singye, Anju, Kusong and Sinuiju. Only some early maturing varieties demonstrated heading stage within SMHD under Yongyon, Changjon and Wonsan environment. These results provide basic information on the varieties able to complete their normal life cycle under the regional environment in North Korea. It it further suggested that yield performance of the selected varieties for each region in this study be tested to select high yielding rice varieties adaptable to North Korean environment.

북서태평양의 표층엽록소 변동성 (Variability of Surface Chlorophyll Concentration in the Northwest Pacific Ocean)

  • We collected information on seasonal and interannual variability of surface chlorophyll a concentration between 1997-2007 from the Northwest Pacific Ocean. Satellite data were used to acquire chlorophyll a and sea surface temperature from six regions: East Sea/Ulleung Basin, East China Sea, Philippin Sea, Warm Pool region, Warm Pool North region, and Warm Pool East region. Mixed layer depth (MLD) was calculated from temperature profiles of ARGO floats data in four of the six regions during 2002-2007. In the East Sea/Ulleung Basin, seasonal variability of chlorophyll a concentration was attributed to seasonal change of MLD, while there was no significant relationship between chlorophyll a concentration and MLD in the Warm Pool region. Interannual anomaly in sea surface temperature were similar among the East Sea, East China Sea, Philippin Sea, and Warm Pool North region. The anomaly pattern was reversed in the Warm Pool East region. However, the anomaly pattern in the Warm Pool region was intermediate of the two patterns. In relation to chlorophyll a, there was a reversed interannual anomaly pattern between Warm Pool North and Warm Pool East, while the anomaly pattern in the Warm Pool region was similar to that of Warm Pool North except for the El $Ni\tilde{n}o$ years (1997/1998, 2002/2003, 2006/2007). However, there was no distinct relationship among other seas. Interestingly, in the Warm Pool and Warm Pool East regions, sea surface temperature showed a pronounced inverse pattern with chlorophyll a. This indicates a strong interrelationship among sea surface temperature-MLD-chlorophyll a in the regions. In the Warm Pool and Warm Pool East, zonal distribution of chlorophyll a concentration within the past 10 years has shown a good relationship with sea surface temperature which reflects ENSO variability.

북중 접경 지역의 지형과 환경 (Landform and Environment in Border Region of N. Korea and China)

  • 본 연구는 2000년부터 2016년까지 두만강 압록강 지역의 현지답사 결과를 분석하여 북중 접경지역의 지형과 환경문제를 제시하고자 한 것이다. 북한의 특수성으로 인해 인공위성이나 통계를 활용한 자료 수집은 가능하나 직접적인 자료 수집에 한계가 있다. 연구는 북중 접경 지역 답사를 통해 지형과 환경문제에 대한 현지 자료를 수집하였다. 현지 조사에 앞서, 수치고도모델과 지질도 분석을 통해 북한 전역에 대한 지형 및 지질 분석을 실시하였다. 현지답사 결과 이용하여 두만강, 압록강 유역의 상류, 중류, 하류에서 나타나는 지형과 환경 문제를 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과는 향후 북한에 대한 실증적 연구 및 통일 대비 북한의 자연자원의 합리적 관리를 위한 기초 연구 자료로 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

  • The ACE Engineering, Inc. (ACE) of Seoul, Korea and The Energy Systems Institute (SEI) of Irkutsk, Russia has extensively studied the formation of an interconnected electric power systems throughout the North Eastern Asia Region(NEAR). The region encompasses East Siberia (ESR), Far East of Russia(FER), North East China(NEC), Mongolia(MON), North Korea(NKOR), South Korea(SKOR). Although geographically adjacent to each other, these countries and territories have different levels and rates of economic development, possess different reserves of energy resources which complement each other and hence, can interact to their mutual benefits. This Project is called Peace Network Project (PNP) because it seems to contribute for development of power economy and clean environment. In a word, the PEACE Network is expected to serve as "Power Economy And Clean Environment Network" and to promote the international cooperation. to expedite the peaceful reunification of North & South Korea and to revive the Korean culture in the North, and eventually contribute to the human prosperity.
