  • In Korea, the occurrence and risk of similar fires are high, so setting up fire prevention measures through fire case investigation is considered the most basic measure in securing human safety. In particular, calculation of evacuation capacity in evacuation safety design of buildings is the most important factor that directly affects evacuation safety performance. However domestic standards is not consider about occupant characteristics. also the case of domestic, it has the problem that the law is partially applied when the fire safety design of buildings. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to study the current status and related regulations of the life safety code for the application of high fire risk buildings, and to analyze the difference in evacuation time through Case Study.

  • The purpose of this research is a seismic capacity evaluation and strengthening of existing railway station buildings, which were constructed before the seismic design code activated. The seismic capacity of 2nd story RC station building is evaluated by using nonlinear time-history analysis. Analysis results are checked by story drift ratio and story shear, which are described in design code. As a result, the story shears are exceeding the base shear of the design code, the appropriate seismic strengthening methods are needed. To improve the seismic capacity, metallic dampers are used. Evaluation parameters are metallic damper shape and damper installation methods. Dampers are installed in four places in X and Y directions of station buildings. By reviewing of time-history analysis results, the metallic damper, which is installed inverted K-brace type, shows a better seismic performance than other damper shape and installation methods.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the capacity of columns in the Ordinary Moment Frame (OMF). For this purpose, 3-story building was designed according to Uniform Building Code and ACI building Code.(ACI 318-99) The columns were classified into interior and exterior columns. For each interior and exterior columns, upper and lower parts are modeled by the 2/3 scale experimental specimens. The specimens for lower part columns have lap splice. The interior columns were tested under the constant axial force, while the exterior columns were tested under the fluctuating axial force. Based on the results of the experiments, the conclusion for the capacity of the column is proposed.

  • In the current seismic design codes design earthquake is usually defined as the earthquake with the 90 percent probability of not being exceeded in the life time of a structure which is assumed as 50 years equivalent to the earthquake with 475 year recurrence period. However the life time of tall building structures may be much longer than 50 yers. The current seismic design code requires the modal analysis or dynamic time history analysis for the buildings with the height exceeding a certain height limit. The objective of this study is to collect the earthquake ground motion(EQGM) which can be used for dynamic time history analysis for tall buildings. For this purpose linear elastic design response spectrum (LEDRS) in the code is scaled to account for the recurrence period of the design earthquake. The earthquake ground motions which has been recorded are calibrated to fit the scaled LEDRS. The set of calibrated EQGM can be treated as design EQGM for the design of tall building with longer lifetime than ordinary building.

  • Contrast a general building high rise buildings itself has a kind of risk. In this study, the risk of a number of high rise buildings have fire fighting safety management of the particular risks associated with looking for ways to minimize focused. Issues include self fire protection. disaster management, building code and fire code of the mismatch, such as fire protection facilities aspects are explained in terms of three kinds, and for it to take steps in the direction suggested an alternative for high rise buildings. Although differences of opinion between departments will not be easy to fire fighting and building codes regarding conflicts of codes above all require immediate resolution, and high rise buildings to create a standard for effective risk management manual countermeasures will also be ensured.

  • This study conducted an experiment on the crowd walking speed, one of the factors for calculating the evacuation capacity of a building. The experiment was measured the crowd walking speed by factor of corridor width and Vulnerable People to Disaster. The result of experiment, it saw the decrease of crowd walking speed due to rate of Vulnerable People to Disaster. In the future, using this as basic data, it is considered that additional research is need to development Human Safetay Standards in Korea.

  • The current Concrete Structural Design Code (2007) prescribe the equivalent rectangular stress block of the ACI 318 Building Code as concrete compressive stress distribution for design of concrete structures. The rectangular stress block may be enough for flexural strength calculation, but realistic stress-strain relationship is required for performance verification at selected limit state in performance-based design. Moreover, the ACI rectangular stress block provides non-conservative flexural strength for high strength concrete columns. Therefore a new stress distribution model is required for development of performance-based design code. This paper proposes a concrete compressive stress-strain distribution model for design and performance verification. The proposed model has a parabolic-rectangular shape, which is adopted by Eurocode 2 and Japanese Code (JSCE). It was developed by investigation of experimental test results conducted by the authors and other researchers. The test results cover high strength concrete as well as normal strength concrete. The stress distribution parameters of the proposed models are compared to those of the ACI 318 Building Code, Eurocode 2, Japanese Code (JSCE) and Canadian Code (CSA) as well as the test results.

  • Disaster Safety Management Information standardization and harmonization simplifies the process of disaster management (prevention, preparedness, response and recovery) to increase the efficiency of disaster management, it is necessary to minimize the people's life and property damage. Disaster safety standardization is to standardize disaster safety information in the past to respond to an uncertain future and systematically manage disaster safety accordingly. This study developed a standard code system to utilize disaster safety information such as earthquake, fire, and fine dust, which are of social interest among various and complex environmental disasters. It aims to support practitioners to conduct efficient disaster tasks in the event of a disaster.
