Two neolignan compound, magnolol $(5,5^{l}-diallyl-2,2^{l}-dihydroxybiphenyl, 1)$ and honokiol $(5,5^{l}-diallyl-2,4^{l}-dihydroxybiphenyl, 2)$ were isolated from the stem bark of Magnolia obovata and evaluated for antifungal activity against various human pathogenic fungi. Compound 1 and 2 showed significant inhibitory activities against Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Microsporium gypseum, Epidermophyton floccosum, Aspergillus niger, Cryptococcus neoformans, and Candida albicans with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) in a range of $25-100{\mu}g/ml$. Therefore, compound 1 and 2 could be used as lead compounds for the development of novel antifungal agents.

For the perfomance test of geothermal system, a large pilot of capacity of 50RT is built and operated in office building. This system is planed hybrid system with cooling tower as asisstance heat sink. From October, 2004 to September, 2005, this system is operated andmonitored. As the result, COP of heating periods is about 3.46 and COP of cooling periods is about 4.1. Therefore, geothermal system is useful and suitable in Korea.

For the purpose of obtaining high modulus PET tire cord fiber by high spinning speed, the change of initial modulus and taut tie molecules (T.T.M) fraction with the PET tire cord fibers by different spinning speed is investigated. Initial modulus decreased with increasing spinning speed but increased above spinning speed of 1500m/min. Therefore, high modulus PET tire cord fiber may be obtained above spinning speed of 3500m/min. It was found that the initial modulus of fibers depends on fraction of T.T.M.

3-(Hydroxyphenyl phosphinyl) propanoic acid (HPPA) has been one of the most commonly used durable flame retardant agents for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) for many years. We intended to explore the application of HPPA to cellulose fabrics as formaldehyde-free phosphorus based flame retardants (FRs) through green chemistry process. The flame retardancy of the flame-retardant treated cellulose fabrics were characterized by using inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy (ICP) and limiting oxygen index (LOI). Structural changes of the treated cellulose fabrics were carried out by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. To enhance the flame retardancy of HPPA treated cellulose fibers, glycerol polyglycidyl ether (GPE), a crosslinking agent was employed. Both HPPA and GPE treated cotton fabric imparted an LOI value over 26.

In this study, a new earth retention system has been developed and introduced. This system is a self-supported earth retaining wall without struts. The new earth retention system consists of connected double H-pile and wale. This system provides a larger spacing of support, economical benefit, construction easiness, good performance and safety. This paper explains basic principles and mechanism of self-supported earth retaining wall. In order to investigate applicability and safety of this system, numerical analysis was performed. The finite differential method program, FLAC3D is used. The predicted performances of this system were presented and discussed.

This paper introduces a new linguistic-focused approach for sentiment analysis (SA) of Korean. In order to overcome shortcomings of previous works that focused mainly on statistical methods, we made effective use of various linguistic features reflecting the nature of Korean. These features include contextual shifters, modal affixes, and the morphological dependency of chunk structures. Moreover, in order to eschew possible confusion caused by ambiguous words and to improve the results of SA, we also proposed simple adjustment methods of word senses using KOLON ontology mapping information. Through experiments we contend that effective use of linguistic features and ontological information can improve the results of sentiment analysis of Korean.
