  • We have previously derived a novel antimicrobial peptide, LPcin-YK3(YK3), based on lactophoricin and have successfully studied and reported on the relationship between its structure and function. In this study, antimicrobial peptides with improved antimicrobial activity, less cytotoxicity, and shorter length were devised and characterized on the basis of YK3, and named YK5, YK8, and YK11. The peptide design was based on a variety of knowledge, and a total of nine analog peptides consisted of one to three amino acid substitutions and C-terminal deletions. In detail, tryptophan substitution improved the membrane perturbation, lysine substitution increased the net charge, and excessive amphipathicity decreased. The analog peptides were examined for structural characteristics through spectroscopic analytical techniques, and antimicrobial susceptibility tests were used to confirm their activity and safety. We expect that these studies will provide a platform for systematic engineering of new antibiotic peptides and generate libraries of various antibiotic peptides.

  • Researchers in Korea and elsewhere have carried out a wide variety of important research activities in their respective fields, producing valuable research results. For such diverse research results to be shared and exchanged among researchers working in the same discipline and research subject there needs to be a community environment based on free utilization of information. Against this backdrop, this study seeks to classify and reprocess the reference/factual content owned by the KISTI (Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information), a state-run distributor of information on science and technology, by the different research subjects. It also seeks to develop and provide a community model based on the concepts of open archiving and open access for the researchers specialized in the related fields of research. This community model is developed focusing on the research results from the field of bioscience, where the most extensive studies are currently being conducted. To develop the community model, this study: (a) surveys the current status of the content owned by KISTI; (b) analyzes the patterns and characteristics of biological scientific content among the KISTI-owned content; and (c) designs a web platform where researchers can freely upload/download research results.

The proposed system is based on markerless tracking, and there are four modules which are recognition, tracking, detecting and learning module. Recognition module detects and identifies an object to be matched on current frame correspond to the database using LSH through SURF, and then this module generates a standard object information that has the best reliability of learning. The standard object information is used for evaluating and learning the object that is successful tracking in tracking module. Detecting module finds out the object based on having the best possible knowledge available among the learned objects information, when the system fails to track. The experimental results show that the proposed system is able to recognize and track the reliable objects with reliability assessment of learning for the use of mobile platform.

  • This paper empirically investigates the factors that influence the consumer choice of an app market based on the rational choice theory. The app market is the only channel where a consumer can buy smartphone apps, which give various functional convenience and are considered to be a major contributor to the proliferation of smartphones. Analyses of 281 questionnaires show that usability and structural guarantees as benefit factors significantly influence the app market choice. From the cost perspectives, both monetary and non-monetary conversion costs are found to significantly influence the app market choice. On the other hand, customer trust, information quality, and market image were found to have no significant effect on app market selection. In particular, Korean app market platform providers (KT, LG U +) seem to be superior in terms of structural guarantees, such as customer center operation and damage compensation regulations, compared to overseas app market platform operators (Google). However, in the case of the Google App Market, it is pre-installed on all Android phones, so it is not inconvenient to install additional apps to use other app market. This is disadvantageous to domestic app market platform operators, and it is necessary to establish a policy solution point. In terms of operator costs, both monetary and non-monetary conversion costs have a significant impact on app market choice. In particular, non-monetary conversion costs have a negative impact on Korean app market platform operators. It can be explained that the service expectation level of the domestic app market is low and it is recognized that the time cost factor such as membership is large for new users to use. It seems to be necessary to improve the domestic app market business. Meanwhile, extant research on smartphone apps focuses on the purchase of apps themselves, but not on the selection of the app market itself. In order to fill in this gap, this study focuses on the determinants of app market selection, including the characteristics of an app market and the switching costs.

  • Starting with the "Smart Grid National Road Map" in 2010, the Smart Grid 2030 was introduced through the basic plan and implementation plan of the intelligent power grid with the goal of building the world's first national smart grid. In this paper, we intend to build a power domain ontology based on the power business platform based on the upper and lower conceptual models of the "Smart Grid Interoperability Standard Framework and Roadmap", the standard of implementation plan. Ontology is suitable for expressing and utilizing the smart grid conceptual model because it considers hierarchical structure as knowledge defines the properties of entities and relationships between entities, but there is no research related to them. Therefore, in this paper, the upper ontology was defined as a major category for smart grid-related fields, and the lower ontology was defined as detailed systems and functions for the upper ontology to construct the ontology. In addition, scenarios in various situations that could occur in the power system were constructed and significant inference results were derived through inference engines and queries.
