The purpose of this study is to examine the medicalizing process of menopanse with literature review, and then is to explore the knowledge of 'menopausal syndrome' critically, focused on four critics on the biomedical model which were suggested by Mishler. Although menopause is a natural biological phenomenon, the view of many medical researchers and practitioners is that menopause is a disease. After synthetic estrogen was developel in 1938, physicians did agree on two basic assumptions : menopausal women should be managed by physicians, and medical intervention should be given. Menopouse was defined as a deficiency disease (estrogen difficiency) by Wilson in 60's and is redefined as a cause of disease(for example, osteoporosis, heart disease) at the present. But the other view of non-medical researcher is that 'menopausal syndrome' as a disease is constructed medically. It was reported that Only hot flush and sweating of physical symptoms experienced by menopausal women, were associated with menopause. Symptoms of menopausal syndrome are also related with symptons of aging. So, it cann't conclude that menopausal syndrome is resulted from menopause, and it cann't be only explained that menopausal syndrome is related causally to estrogen deficiency, and only treatment by ERT or HRT is best relevant. It cann't assume that menopausal syndrome is a common phenomenon to all menopause women, because culture affected on women's experience of menopause.

This study is to identify the effects of hypertension management program at a community health center on the disease-related knowledge, self-efficacy, anthropometric measurements and blood pressure of a hypertensive patient in local community. This study is a quasi-experimental study using nonequivalence control group no-synchronized design in order to verify the effects of the hypertension management program at a community health center on the hypertension-related knowledge, self-efficacy, anthropometric measurements and blood pressure of a hypertensive patient in local community. The result indicated a significant difference between the experimental group and control group in the scores of hypertension-related knowledge (t=-4.25, p<.001), self-efficacy (t=-4.20, p<.001), systolic blood pressure (t=7.70, p<.001) and diastolic blood(t=5.91, p<.001), body weight(t=2.32, p=.026) and abdominal circumference(t=2.17, p=.036). The hypertensive patients' knowledge and self-efficacy were improved, and their weight and abdominal circumference as well as systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were reduced. Therefore, it was confirmed that multilateral approaches in terms of physical and psychosocial aspects only targeting hypertensive patients were required for managing hypertensive patients in local community.
The purpose of this research is to build a database structure that can be useful for evidence-based medical practices by constructing the knowledge related to oriental medicine in the classical literature knowledge in a form that can utilize new forms of information technology. As a method, "database" is used as a keyword to search published studies in the field of oriental medicine, research is conducted on classic literature knowledge, and studies describing the contents of the data structure are found and analyzed. In conclusion, the original text DB for the preservation of the original texts and the presentation of the supporting texts should include 'Contents Text', 'Tree Structure', 'Herbal Structure', 'Medicine Manufacture', and 'Disease Structure' tables. In order to search, calculate, and automatically extract expressions written in the original text of the old literature, the tool DB should include 'Unit List', 'Capacity Notation List', 'CUI', 'LUI', and 'SUI' tables. In addition, In order to manage integrated knowledge such as herbal, medicine, acupuncture, disease, and literature, and to implement a search function such as comparison of similarity of control composition, the knowledge DB must contain 'dose-controlled medicine name', 'dose-controlled medicine composition', 'relational knowledge', 'knowledge structure', and 'computational knowledge' tables.
The purpose of this study was to examine how much knowledge dental-hygiene students had about AIDS and how they looked at that. The subjects in this study were 370 freshmen, sophomores and juniors who were majoring in dental hygiene. The findings of this study were as follows : The rate of the students who were accurately aware of AIDS dissemination ranged from 59 to 92 percent. Those who knew that the disease didn't spread through routine daily contacts stood at 63 to 91 percent, and the students who were correctly cognizant of the cause of AIDS numbered 41 to 77 percent. Those who grasped the seriousness of that disease stood at 45 to 83 percent. The students weren't properly aware of how to prevent AIDS, as just 33 to 68 percent knew about that. Concerning connections between school year and AIDS knowledge, the sophomores had a better knowledge on its dissemination, cause and AIDS itself than the freshmen and juniors. As for attitude toward AIDS, 72.4 percent considered themselves not to be susceptible to that disease, but 361 percent felt that they were likely to develop it. 44.6 percent weren't afraid of being attacked by that disease, but more students feared about that possibility. Most of the students, who ranged from 77 to 88 percent, hoped to continue to be educated about that, and as many as 92 percent believed that AIDS patients should separatedly be treated. A lot of the students, which accounted for 90 percent, felt fear in the course of treatment, but 44 percent believed that AIDS patients should equally be treated, which indicated that they had a sense of responsibility. As to the relationship of school year to altitude toward AIDS, when their ideas about the danger of AIDS were asked, the freshmen and juniors considered themselves not to be susceptible to that disease more than the sophomores did, and the former group felt, more than the latter, that AIDS infection should be more thoroughly prevented than hepatitis in dental clinic. The juniors had a stronger tendency to find themselves to be exposed to AIDS as equally as most other people, compared to the freshmen and sophomores. The sophomores felt higher need for AIDS - related education, and had a stronger sense of duty about treating AIDS patients, and were more apprehensive of the disease in the course of treatment than the freshmen and juniors did. The above-mentioned findings suggested thai every individual should be cautious not to develop AIDS, as there is still no workable vaccine. Since the nation is not free from the horrible disease, the government should put more efforts into researching and preventing it. But what's most important is that dental-hygiene students, who will be committed to dental treatment in the future, should precisely be cognizant of the seriousness of that disease, and try to stay away from it by using protective devices and handling dental supplies properly. And the type of treatment system thai could prevent AIDS infection should be established.

This study examined the associations among the factors related to self-care behavior in patients with liver cirrhosis, focusing on disease knowledge and family support. The subjects were 120 liver cirrhosis patients recruited from the medical out-patient clinic of ageneral hospital in the U metropolitan city during the period of June-August, 2015. The data were analyzed with SPSS(Version 21) program. The results showed that the average scores of disease knowledge was $12.64{\pm}2.16$ out of 18; family support was $23.28{\pm}5.68$ out of 32; and self-care behavior was $35.66{\pm}8.67$ out of 60. The study subjects had moderate levels of disease knowledge and family support, but low levels of self-care behavior. The data showedthat self-care behavior was positively correlated with disease knowledge (r=0.675, p<0.001) and family support (r=0.804, p<0.001) of the subjects. The best predictors for self-care behavior were family support, disease knowledge, frequency of alcohol consumption per week, having liver cirrhosis patients among family or relatives, and educational level, which accounted for 69.7% of the variance. In conclusion, promoting the self-care behavior of liver cirrhosis patients should be planned based on a consideration of the patient's educational level, knowledge of their own disease, and family support.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to conduct a pre-conception care program for women of childbearing age with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in Korea and verify its effects on self-efficacy for IBD management, IBD-related pregnancy knowledge, and IBD-related pregnancy anxiety. It also aimed to explore the changes in participants through the program. Methods: A convergent mixed-methods study design was adopted. In the quantitative phase, 35 women (17 and 18 in the intervention and control group, respectively) participated. The intervention group attended a program that included small-group sessions and individual tele-coaching. To confirm the effects, data were collected before and one and four weeks after the intervention. In the qualitative stage, focus group interviews and tele-coaching were conducted with the intervention group. Results: After the program ended, significant differences were observed over time between the intervention and control groups for self-efficacy for IBD management (Wald χ2 = 4.41, p = .036), IBD-related pregnancy knowledge (Wald χ2 = 13.80, p < .001) and IBD-related pregnancy anxiety (Wald χ2 = 8.61, p = .003). Qualitative data analysis revealed the following themes: (1) improving confidence in IBD management and awareness for planned pregnancy; (2) improving IBD awareness related to pregnancy and childbirth; and (3) relieving anxiety about and actively facing pregnancy. Conclusion: This study is meaningful in that, to the best of our knowledge, it is the first to develop a pre-conception care program for women diagnosed with IBD and confirm its effectiveness. Furthermore, this program is expected to be suitable for patient counseling and education in clinical practice.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the status of emergency care of pregnant women transported by paramedics, to analyze the knowledge of paramedics related to pregnant women and their self-confidence in emergency care, and to provide foundational data to improve the quality of emergency care for pregnant women. With regard to the 18 items to measure knowledge, the mean (median) of items 'don't know' was 4.9(4) items. The mean (median) of items answered wrong was 3.2(3) items. The number of items answered 'don't know' tend to show higher in those who had less education, blue color jobs and myocardiac infarction history than in their counter parts. There were higher frequency of items answered 'don't know' in those who had no hypertension 2. With regard to the level of knowledge by questionnaire about CABG, The most "I dont know" (59.1%) highly response was 'He has to be treated with anticoagulant drug to prevent revasculized vessel from obstructing.' The seond highest response (56.4%) was 'If you were hypotensive, the coronary attack would collapse. 'During the hospitalized day, the patient has complete bedrest.' The highest error probability was cholesterol has not to intake.', 'After surgery, the sexual life is need controlled for 1 year. 3. The mean of educational needs was 3.38. With regard to the level of learning needs by sentence about CABG, 'Food that benefit heart disease', 'Recurrence possibility of heart disease', 'Management method of operation site', 'Risk symptom that visit hospital or report immediately' were higher than other sentenses. With regard to the level of learning needs by factor 'food(5 items)', 'disease(9 items)' and 'exercise(3 items)' showed the highest than other factors. The educational needs by patients characteristics tend to show higher in males, under the age of 49, middle or high school degree, previous experience of admission with coronary artery disease, history of myocardial infarction, expierience of PTCA, history of cerebro-vascular accident, previous expierience of smoking than in their counter parts. 4. The number of items answered 'don't know', wrong and correct weren't correlated with the level educational needs. As the results, the number of items answered 'don't know' tend to show higher in those who had less educated, blue color jobs and myocardiac infarction history than in their counter parts. There were higher frequency of items answered 'don't know' in those who had no hypertension .There were higher frequency of items answered 'don't know' on anti-thrombolitic theraphy, hypotension and pain relief. Also there were higher frequency of items answered wrong on bed rest period, cholesterol intake, and sexual life. Educational needs were higher in young age group, had previous experience of procesure and history of other disease. And when we educate CABG patients, education for diet, recurrence possibility of disease, management methods of operation site and risk symptom should be emphasized.
