  • Recently, emergence of smart-phones and Social Networking Service(SNS) would offer the market environment changes and the opportunities for new business. For the case analysis comprehensive survey were implemented. And those data were analyzed along the research framework. The late-comer firms offered differential services, maintained creative and opened corporate culture, shoed learning capabilities which means absorption and organization of external knowledge, innovative efforts to control the insurgents than early-mover firms. When we analyze these phenomena along the developmental stages of late-comer, we can perceive that the stage of late-comers firms were moving from the "tracing the path" stage to "jumping the path" stage which means the creating capabilities were more or less enhanced and the firms become more stable in terms of business operation. In business model, early-mover firms showed clear definition for each business element, especially the revenue structure, while late-mover firms seemed unstable or unclear revenue structure.

  • This paper provides a general overview and critical assessment of Daedeok Science Town (DST) in Korea, mainly through the lens of the related literature. DST symbolizes the government-led creation of a new science town and represents a bold attempt to consolidate national R&D efforts in a designated area with a view to supplying basic scientific knowledge to industries nationwide. It has achieved considerable success by improving the research environment and promoting venture spin-offs and network formation. However, while DST has played a pivotal role in ushering in the era of the knowledge-based economy, new measures are required for it to remain viable. To this end, efforts should be made to direct government support toward new firm establishment, finance, and tighter networking. DST also needs to host large corporations in the area as these could both act as a market for venture businesses and serve as providers of funds.

  • Business Process Intelligence (BPI) is one of the emerging technologies in the knowledge discovery and analysis area. BPI deals with a series of techniques from discovering knowledge to analyzing the discovered knowledge in BPM-supported organizations. By means of the BPI technology, we are able to provide the full functionality of control, monitoring, prediction, and optimization of process-supported organizational knowledge. Particularly, we focus on the focal organizational knowledge, which is so-called the BPM activity-performer affiliation networking knowledge that represents the affiliated relationships between performers and activities in enacting a specific business process model. That is, in this paper we devise a statistical analysis method to be applied to the BPM activity-performer affiliation networking knowledge, and dubbed it the activity-performer correspondence analysis method. The devised method consists of a series of pipelined phases from the generation of a bipartite matrix to the visualization of the analysis result, and through the method we are eventually able to analyze the degree of correspondences between a group of performers and a group of activities involved in a business process model or a package of business process models. Conclusively, we strongly expect the effectiveness and efficiency of the human resources allotments, and the improvement of the correlational degree between business activities and performers, in planning and designing business process models and packages for the BPM-supported organization, through the activity-performer correspondence analysis method.

  • In the 21st century, knowledge is an important asset to improve productivity in the business world. In today's rapidly changing business environment, companies have rigorously brought in knowledge management system in order to secure the sustainable competitiveness and effective knowledge management. Knowledge management has now become mandatory, not optional. Today many companies which have built knowledge management on top of information technology and hardware-based infrastructure are having a difficulty in creating organizational culture in knowledge management. Even though companies have invested substantial time and money in knowledge management, the performances have not met their expectations. To solve this problem, software oriented strategy for knowledge management such as education and networking is more needed rather than hardware oriented strategy such as information technology systems. Though the knowledge management framework suggested in this study is exploratory, this study contributes to the clarification of the critical elements that companies which are about to build knowledge management should take in account.

This research also conducted a review of the tools needed for effective personal information management (PIM) and assessed perceptions about improving PIM through Internet use. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews conducted among 26 graduates of the Department of Information Studies at Kuwait University. These participants are currently employed in different sectors engaged in a variety of information-related activities. This study's findings indicated that participants gathered different types of information from a variety of sources. This information was stored using several devices and services, including desktop computers, shared drives, clouds, bookmarked websites, e-mail correspondence, and favorites lists. Participants organized information in personal folders according to categories such as subject/topic, time, project, document type, and geographical region. Preferred methods for information re-finding included searching by keyword and browsing through folders. Interviewees reported problems of information overload, fragmentation, and anxiety. Most were active in social media via mobile device, while some of them used Siri or Ask Google to retrieve information. Tools used for PIM included calendars, tasks, schedules, e-mail management tools, clouds, and social networking tools. Participants reported that the Internet helped with personal information management practices, but that some privacy issues arose in this context.

  • Identifying clinical pathways for disease diagnosis and treatment process recommendations are seriously decision-intensive tasks for health care practitioners. It requires them to rely on their expertise and experience to analyze various categories of health parameters from a health record to arrive at a decision in order to provide an accurate diagnosis and treatment recommendations to the end user (patient). Technological adaptation in the area of medical diagnosis using AI is dispensable; using expert systems to assist health care practitioners in decision-making is becoming increasingly popular. Our work architects a novel knowledge-based recommender system model, an expert system that can bring adaptability and transparency in usage, provide in-depth analysis of a patient's medical record, and prescribe diagnostic results and treatment process recommendations to them. The proposed system uses a set of parallel discrete fuzzy rule-based classifier systems, with each of them providing recommended sub-outcomes of discrete medical conditions. A novel knowledge-based combiner unit extracts significant relationships between the sub-outcomes of discrete fuzzy rule-based classifier systems to provide holistic outcomes and solutions for clinical decision support. The work establishes a model to address disease diagnosis and treatment recommendations for primary lung disease issues. In this paper, we provide some samples to demonstrate the usage of the system, and the results from the system show excellent correlation with expert assessments.
