Objectives : In order to provide basic data necessary for developing oral health education plane for school continued oral health education by understanding knowledge and activities of oral health. Methods : This study was performed against 324 students at 5th grade of 2 elementary schools in Iksan-si, Jellabuk-do selected through convenience sampling, who were in mixed dentition period that might experience dental caries of permanent tooth. Results : As results, For the knowledge level on oral health by questions, it was found that the case that the elementary school students had correct knowledge on oral health was 'chocolates, snacks, and candies were foods that might often cause dental caries' and 95.8% of the students recognized it well. It was found that for 'must do toothbrushing before going to bed', 'during toothbrushing, I clean my tongue', and 'Proper time necessary for toothbrushing is about 3 minutes', 89.3%, 93.2%, and 89.3% of the students knew the, respectively. When oral health knowledge level by groups was divided into 3 groups and observed, they were classified into Low (0-4 points), Mid (5-7 points), and High (8-10 points). It was found that the knowledge level of each group was High 64.1%, Mid 33.9%, and Low 2.0% and it was identified that the high group took the largest ratio. It was suggested also for oral health knowledge level depending on their father's academic background that there was a statistically significant difference in the group higher than university graduate(p<.05). It was found for oral health knowledge level depending on parents' dental condition that an answer that both parents were good was high and there was a statistically significant difference. But post-analysis resulted that there was no apparent difference among groups. It was found that the ratio of respondents who answered for toothbrushing method 'toothbrush should be moved and rotated downward for the upper teeth and upward for the lower teeth to clean the teeth and gum' were 33.2% of male students and 29.4% of female students and showed statistically significant difference (p<0.05). It was found also that the ratio of respondents who answered to use a toothbrush for about 3 months' were 29.4% of male students and 25.5% of female students and showed statistically significant difference (p<0.05). Conclusions : Oral health program through the elementary school students and their parents for the development of proper oral health care education programs continue to be made should be considered.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of video-and discussion-based smoking cessation intervention for adolescents. And this study is intended to provide a basic database for the development of health education, to serve health promotion for adolescent. The subjects were 472 high school students in K yungkido. The data was collected from September 23th to October 31 st, 2002. The data was collected by the measurement of knowledge, attitude, and intention toward smoking. Pre-research was conducted before smoking cessation education and post-research was performed twice, immediately after the education and 4 weeks later. Collected data was analyzed by using the SPSS 10.0 which is a computational statistical program. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Total knowledge points in smoking cessation program-based group are higher than any other groups and the statistical difference is significant. 2. The students' attitude points in experimental groups are higher than that of the control group and the statistical difference is significant. However, the meaningful statistical difference disappeared after 4 weeks. 3. The non-smoking students' intention points do not show any significant difference. And the smoking students' intention points in experimental groups are higher than that of the control group but the statistical difference is insignificant. 4. There are correlations among knowledge, attitude and intention toward smoking: knowledge and attitude are negatively correlated, knowledge and intention are positively correlated for non-smoking students, and for smoking students, attitude and intention have a negative correlation.
The objectives of this study were; (1)to determine if socio-demographic variables influence energy conservation attitude, energy conservation knowledge, energy conservation behavior of consumer, (2) to determine if energy conservation attitude and energy conservation knowledge influence energy conservation behavior of consumer, (3) to examine the causal relationships among variables which influence energy conservation behavior of consumer. The model for this study included following variables; (1) socio-demographic variables, which are the independent variables; (2) energy conservation behavior of consumer, which is a dependent variable; (3) energy conservation attitude of consumer, which is an intervening variable ;(4) energy conservation knowledge of consumer, which is an intervening variable. The data used in this study included 502 homemakers living in Seoul. Statistics used for data analysis were ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation and Path Analysis. The major findings were follows; (1) Energy conservation attitude and energy conservation behavior difference significantly according to the level of family income among socio-demographic variables such a age, educational level and family income. Energy conservation knowledge differenced significantly educational level, and family income. Energy conservation knowledge difference significantly educational level. (2) Energy conservation behavior differed significantly according to energy conservation attitude and energy conservation knowledge. (3) Energy conservation attitude and energy conservation knowledge had positive effects on energy conservation behavior directly and indirectly. (4) Family income had negative effects on energy conservation behavior directly and indirectly through energy conservation attitude. Education had positive effect on energy conservation behavior indirectly through energy conservation knowledge.

Purpose: The study was done to identify variations in Nurses' CPR knowledge, attitude and performance before and after BLS Education. Method: This study was designed to evaluate the differences in Nurses' CPR knowledge, attitude and performance. For the study we selected 167 nurses working in Daegu K University hospital. The study group was given a test before (pre test) and after (post test) BLS education. The BLS education was given by two BLS instructors certified by the American Heart Association, using a DVD and manikin. Result: The results showed a statistically significant difference the nurse's knowledge, belief, emotion and performance but there was no significant difference in their behavior after BLS education. CPR knowledge and performance was higher among emergency room nurses compared to surgical ward nurses. Conclusion: CPR education has shown to have a positive effect on nurses' attitudes towards CPR. It also improved their related knowledge and performance. Therefore, cardiopulmonary education should be given continuously, and different steps of CPR education programs need to be developed in order to fill the knowledge deficiency gap.
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the knowledge and attitude about organ donation and organ transplantation among the organ donation candidates. Methods: The subjects were 91 candidates who are enrolled in organ transplantation center in general hospitals for organ donation or transplantation. The knowledge and attitude instruments about organ donation and transplantation by Matten, et al. (1991) were utilized. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS/WIN 14.0: descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The mean score of knowledge was relatively low ($9.61{\pm}3.47$, out of 21.0). The mean score of attitude was relatively high ($4.24{\pm}0.97$, of max score 5). There was significant difference (p<.05) in knowledge according to academic career, registered period as a candidate, the intention to participate in an organ donation education. There was significant difference (p<.05) in attitude according to occupation, family's consent, and recommendation to family. The relationship between knowledge and attitude was not stylistically significant (r=.043, p=.683). Conclusion: These findings suggest that nurses should develop educational programs to increase knowledge and positive attitude toward the organ donation and transplantation.
The purpose of this study was to investigate knowledge and attitude about oral contraceptive between Korean and Japanese university students in order to provide better sex education programs and direcrion. Korean subjects of this study were 337 university students in M city, during the period from April 1 to April 20, 2001 and Japanese subjects 245, during the period from June to August, 2001. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients with SPSS package. The results from this study were summarized as follows : 1. The mean age of Koreans and Japanese students was $21.0{\pm}3.2$ and $19.6{\pm}3.2$ years old. The number of Japaneses youths having the parter with sexual intercourse was larger than that of Korean university students. 2. Comparison of knowledge and attitude about oral contraceptives between Korean and Japanese university students ; 1) Comparison of sexual differences : Oral contraceptives related knowledge of Korean university students marked $55.7{\pm}7.5$ of male students and $56.7{\pm}6.2$ of females with a range of 15 to 75. The level of female students' knowledge was higher than that of male's but there is not statistically a significant difference (p=.080). Oral contraceptives related attitude of Korean university students marked $81.1{\pm}12.2$ of male students and $76.9{\pm}10.3$ of female's with a range of 24 to 120. The level of male students' attitude was higher than that of female's and there is statistically a significant difference(p= 002). Oral contraceptives related knowledge of Japanese university students marked $55.3{\pm}6.7$ of male students and $57.0{\pm}6.3$ of female students. The level of female students' knowledge was higher than that of male's but there is not statistically a significant difference (p=.159). Oral contraceptives related attitude of Japanese university students marked $80.3{\pm}10.1$ of male students and $80.4{\pm}9.9$ of female students. The level of female students' attitude was higher than that of male's and there is not statistically a significant difference(p= .928). 2) Comparison between the country : Oral conceptives related knowledge of Korean university students marked $56.2{\pm}6.8$ and $56.7{\pm}6.4$ of Japanese university students with a range of 15 to 75. The level of Japanese university students' knowledge was higher than that of Korean's but there is not statistically a significant difference(p= .361). Oral conceptives related attitude of Korean university students marked $78.9{\pm}11.4$ and $80.4{\pm}9.9$ of Japaneses with a range of 24 to 120. The level of Japanese university studentss' attitude was higher than that of Korean's and there is not statistically a significant difference(p=.100). 2. Wanted age of oral contraceptives taking medicine and age was correlated positively (r=.178, p=.004) and total knowledge score of oral contraceptives and total attitude score were correlated positively(r=.467 p= .000) in Korean university students. Japanese university students can know that it is appearing by side effect, supernumerary prescription being not right, knowledge insufficiency, sexual feeling inflammation worry, economical burden, social prejudice, sexual morality decline and other person reverse. Think that this is result by dissimilar health medical system and cultural difference between two countries.
This study was surveyed the knowledge and attitude toward the elderly in dental personnels, who play an important role in oral health of the elderly in the aging society, In order to arrange the basic data that is conducive to development in the mouth care of the elderly, the research was conducted from January 7 to February 14, 2008, targeting 270 dental personnels in Daejeon & Chungnam area, who are in charge of oral duties in the current clinic. As a result of analyzing so that questionnaire can be prepared with the self-administered questionnaire, the following results were obtained 1. The knowledge level on the elderly in dental hygienist was 13.47 marks out of 25-mark perfection. There was no difference in knowledge depending on job category and volunteer-work activity experience, And, there was no difference even depending on physical & physiological sphere, psychological sphere, and family & social sphere. 2. The attitude level toward the elderly in dental hygienist was 91.63 marks out of 150-mark perfection. Dental hygienist showed positive attitude in personality characteristic, emotional characteristic, and self-management ability by sphere, and showed statistically significant difference (p=0.011). 3. In case of having volunteer-work activity experience, the attitude level toward the elderly was 92.57 marks out of 150-mark perfection, A case of having volunteer-work activity experience showed positive tendency in emotional characteristic, self-management ability, and judgement-ability characteristic by sphere, And, the attitude toward family relation was indicated to be negative tendency, thus there was statistical significance(p=0.022). 4. As for the correlation between knowledge and attitude toward the elderly, dental hygienist was indicated to have high interest in the volunteer-work experience, the elderly education experience, and the elderly problem(r=0. 444). The knowledge and attitude toward the elderly had slightly positive correlation(r=0.155). Dental hygienists are being required gradually as the primary staff for the elderly people's dental care in the aging society. A continuous education is needed so that dental hygienists can have positive sight in understanding, knowledge, and attitude. And, the development in a mouth care program for the elderly in line with it is considered to be necessary.

Purpose : This study is to supply basal data need to development of First-Aid education program for female college students of non-health department that we surveyed safety awareness practice, First-Aid knowledge, educational requirement and necessity of the female college students of health and non-health department. Methods : This date was collected from September 1th in 2012 until October 5th by 5 person selected of which explain to purpose and method of the writing. We distributed the subject questionnaire of total 410 and analyzed questionnaire 385 only. Results : The results of this study are follows. First, the health group was higher than non-health group in conductive score of safety awareness and score of First-Aid knowledge in female students and there was statistically significant difference. Second, There was significant difference in Economical state, Educational state of the Safety awareness Practice score and First-Aid knowledge score about the general characteristic of the female college students of health department. Third, there wasn't significant difference in most of all item of the Safety awareness Practice score and First-Aid knowledge score about the general characteristic of the female college students of non-health department. Conclusion : Finally, We found that the female college students of health department lower than the female college students of non-health department in First-Aid knowledge level and surveyed that they felt the needs of First-Aid education. Therefore, there are able to need the opening of a course in order to raise the quality of safety awareness and First-Aid knowledge or to needs construction of educational system in continuously.
This study investigated the effects of nursing in formation given verbally and a booklet on the knowledge, Physical symptoms, anxiety and daily activities of patients recovering from open heart surgery from just before discharge to six weeks after discharge. The convenience sample was of patients who had undergone open heart surgery in Seoul National University Hospital. The first 25 patients who agreed to participate in the study became the control group. They did not receive the intentional information but the usual nursing care. The next 28 patients became the experimental group who received a booklet about their post-discharge care which was discussed with them by the researcher before discharge. This study used a non equivalent control group non - synchronized quasiexperimental design. The tools included a 30 item knowledge scale, a 9 item physical symptom scale, Spielberger's state anxiety scale, and a 28 item daily activity scale. The instruments were applied before discharge and at two and six weeks after discharge. For data analysis, frequency, t-test, Pearson's Correlational Coefficient and Cronbach's $\alpha$ were used. The results were as follows : 1. Information given through the booklet was effective in increasing the knowledge of patients recovering from open heart surgery. The experimental group's knowledge was higher at 2 weeks after discharge than prior to discharge (P<0.05). 2. There was no significant difference in physical symptoms between the two groups at two and six weeks after discharge. 3. Information given through the booklet was effective in decreasing the State Anxiety two weeks after discharge (P<0.001) but at six weeks after discharge, there was no significant difference in anxiety between the control and the experimental groups. 4. There was no significant difference in daily activity between the two groups at two and six weeks after discharge. 5. There was a negative correlation between knowledge at discharge and at 2 weeks and anxiety at 2 weeks after discharge. There was a positive correlation between knowledge at discharge and daily activity at 2 weeks after discharge. There was a negative correlation between knowledge at 2 weeks and Physical symptom at 6 weeks after discharge.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the difference in knowledge and learning needs of the coronary artery disease according to the general characteristics of the patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Method: The participants were 188 patients who had diabetes mellitus. Data were obtained between January and April 2006 by asking the knowledge and learning needs of the coronary artery disease. Data were analyzed using SAS program. Results: Participants' knowledge level was high in the cause and prevention, but the level was low in the symptom and occurrence of pain. Learning need for "Influence of smoking on heart disease" and "The structure and functions of the heart" was great, but learning need for "Complete diagnosis" and "Management of pain and pressure on the sternum" was little. No significant differences were found in the knowledge level of the coronary artery disease according to the general characteristics. Learning needs were greater in participants under 60 years of age (p=0.011) and in those with low education level (p=0.049). There was a significant correlation between knowledge and learning needs of the coronary artery disease (p=0.003). Conclusion: In planing the education programs, the general characteristics of the patients should be considered.
