  • The capitalization of know-how, knowledge management, and the control of the constantly growing information mass has become the new strategic challenge for organizations that aim to capture the entire wealth of knowledge (tacit and explicit). Thus, knowledge mapping is a means of (cognitive) navigation to access the resources of the strategic heritage knowledge of an organization. In this paper, we present a new mapping approach based on the Boolean modeling of critical domain knowledge and on the use of different data sources via the data mining technique in order to improve the process of acquiring knowledge explicitly. To evaluate our approach, we have initiated a process of mapping that is guided by machine learning that is artificially operated in the following two stages: data mining and automatic mapping. Data mining is be initially run from an induction of Boolean case studies (explicit). The mapping rules are then used to automatically improve the Boolean model of the mapping of critical knowledge.

  • There are growing interests for knowledge-based information to build up competitiveness both in public and in private. Construction industry compared to other industries, shows strong knowledge usages in products and process. R&D investment over the construction industry has been decreased since economic crisis (IMF), so technology status of domestic construction industry has gap of 4.6 years with developed countries. Information infra also lowers in use of information and investment than other industries. In case of knowledge management, usage of information technology and vision establishment show high status but knowledge sharing and evaluation stay in low level. For the administration of knowledge-based information, there are needs of continuous R&D investments, educations for inspiring employees to knowledge share, systems for knowledge estimation and evaluation, and organizational culture.

  • A large and reliable citation database is necessary to identify and analyze citation behavior of Korean researchers in science and technology. Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) built the Korea Science Citation Database (KSCD), and have provided Korea Science Citation Index (KSCI) and Korea Journal Citation Reports (KJCR) services. In this article, citing behavior of Korean scientists on Korean journals was examined by using the KSCD that covers 459 Korean core journals. This research dealt with (1) statistical numeric information of journals in KSCD, (2) analysis of document types cited, (3) ratio of domestic to international documents cited and ratio of citing different disciplines, (4) analysis on immediacy index, peak time, and half-life of cited documents, and (5) analysis on impact of journals based on KJCR citation indicators. From this research, we could find the immediacy citation rate (average 2.36%), peak-time (average 1.7 years) and half-life (average 5.2 years) of cited journals in Korea. We also found that the average journal self-citation rate is more than 50% in every field. In sum, citing behavior of Korean scientists on Korean journals was comprehensively identified from this research.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of learning expectation and perceived knowledge sharing on user satisfaction and IS continuance in the Korean Army which is currently using the Regiments' Information System to help their Integrated Administration Management. Based on both the Information System(IS) Continuance Model and IS Success Model, this study also examine the role of system quality on user satisfaction. We develop a research model(structural equation model) and its hypotheses that learning expectation, perceived knowledge sharing, and system quality increase users' satisfaction, which leads to IS continuance. The effect of learning expectation on perceived knowledge sharing is also hypothesized. Design/methodology/approach Online Survey using e-mails was administered to test our research model and associated hypotheses. Among the 360 e-mail letters including our survey questionnaire, 285 responses were collected via e-mails. Meaningful 225 cases were analyzed for our study. SPSS Statistics 24.0 and SmartPLS 3.0 were used to analyze both measuremant test and hyotheses test by using the data set. Findings Survey results show that learning expectation(confirmation variable), learning expectation, perceived knowledge sharing(a perceived usefulness variable), and system quality(a system characteristic) each increases user satisfaction, which leads to IS continuance, under the control of the effect of habit to use information systems. Learning expectation also has a positive influence on perceived knowledge sharing. Theoretical and practical implications are presented.
