  • The hospital school is an organization designed to encourage long-term health-impaired students to receive treatment and education at the same time. There are 33 hospital schools in Korea. However, the management of hospital schools varies greatly depending on the amount of resources and support they possess, and especially the lack of manpower and quality improvement of education programs were found to be the biggest problems. This study aims to discuss the case of Hospital School in Yeungnam University Hospital (YUH), which successfully overcame internal resource limitations while solving existing hospital schools through networking and open innovation with external organizations. In particular, through cooperation with students of Herewego, volunteering club in Yeungnam University business school(YUBS), we increased the social interest of hospital school by creating a special program with financial support of Daegu city. They created customized education service programs for hospital schools that reflect their major-business management. The cooperativ e case of YUH's Hospital School and YUBS's Volunteering Club of Herewego showed that the cooperation is not only about volunteering service but also the open innovation, introduced as a platform to expand the company's source of product development. We think that this is a case of value creation through exchange of knowledge. It could have many implications for solving the problem of hospital school.

  • Today, it is difficult to re-use and share spatial information, because of the explosive growth of heterogeneous information and specific characters of spatial information accumulated by diverse local agency. A spatial analysis of subsurface spatial informa-tion, one of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure, needs related spatial information such as, topographical map, geologic map, underground facility map, etc. However, current methods using standard format or spatial datawarehouse cannot consider a se-mantic hetergenity. In this paper, the layered ontology model which consists of generic concept, measuremnt scale, spatial model, and subsurface spatial information has developed. Also, the current ontology building method pertained to human experts is a expensive and time-consuming process. We have developed the MDA-based metamodel(UML Profile) of ontology that can be a easy under-standing and flexiblity of environment change. The semantic quality of devleoped ontology model has evaluated by reasoning engine, Pellet. We expect to improve a semantic sharing, and strengthen capacities for developing GIS experts system using knowledge representation ability of ontology.

  • The status of recently expanded exotic pangasiid catfish Pangasius hypophthalmus, Pangasiidae farming in rural Bangladesh has been studied for finding research needs, through knowing the culture methods, associated activities and problems, to make the farming sustainable. Data were collected using participatory rural appraisal (PRA) tools in nine villages in three upazilas (sub-district) of Mymensingh district. The farmers have not got any formal training and have developed their knowledge on farming the fish through practice over years and sharing of knowledge among fellow farmers. Linked industries, e.g. hatcheries, nurseries, feed mills, trading of feed and fish etc. have developed that created employment opportunities. Most of the farmers produce two crops a year. About 90% of the farmers were found to practice mono culture of pangasiid catfish at high stocking density. The feeding rates started from 10-15% of the body weight per day at fingerling stage that reduced to 4-6% with growth. The average yield was found to be 25 tonslha/year. The livelihood of the farmers has been improved through farming the fish. Women and children were rarely engaged in the activities. The identified major problems in farming the fish were water quality deterioration, high feed costs and declining consumer demand and market price.

  • The computer is an important tool to design an engineering system and CAD systems are widely used for various design practice. To meet the market requirements, the old mass production system is being changed into the mass customization system. As for CAD systems, it is increasingly required to extend, automate, and customize a wide range of functionality. This article describes the state-of-the-art of the principal technologies for customizing CAD systems. And we have implemented an application that enables the parametric design by directly inputting numerical values of parameters for a CAD model. Based on this application, we have developed another system that makes it possible sharing of part family data between SolidEdge and Pro/Engineer. Through customization of CAD systems, it is possible to improve the product quality using external knowledge-based systems or to integrate with external system such as CAE tools. This paper can be a guide for engineering designers who want to customize CAD systems.

  • The change in the social paradigm has been directly reflected in design. Throughout the conversion of design paradigm based on ecological paradigm, ecological design and green design make it possible to sustain society and improve the quality of human life. Also, the conversion of design paradigm mean that it changed from Male-identified and Male-dominated design to feminism design, which emphasizes femininity. Because the characteristic of ecological design and feminism design can be understood in the same context. Feminism design is not the kind of design that embodies the stereotype of social gender but the design that reflects the femininity which can be conferred as emotional, intuitional, mutual, sharing, organic and natural. If the result of design recognizes the diversities and differences of the users -based on the female users' experiences and knowledge- and if the need and the requirement of the design are useful enough, through the unity with human environment and harmonious participation, Eco-design and Feminism design will use their abilities to sustain the society and to enhance the quality of human life.
