This study aimed to assess dental hygiene students' and other medical personnel's knowledge of dental hygienists' legal responsibilities. A self-reported questionnaire was conducted for 2 weeks from March 25 to April 9, 2017. One of the main questions focused on the legal scope of practice for dental hygienists according to current medical technicians. A total of 298 subjects' responses were analyzed. We found that 62.1% of the respondents were aware of dental hygienists' legal responsibilities. Of the dental hygiene students surveyed, 93.6% replied that they were aware of other medical personnel's expectations. Responses to 12 legal questions were shown to have different distributions depending upon the level of dental hygienist education. Overall, knowledge of dental hygienist legal responsibilities was more comprehensive for senior students in each legal topic. However, few students (1.7%) answered all 12 legal questions correctly. In conclusion, dental hygiene students' awareness of their profession's legal scope should be improved. In addition, the Korean Dental Hygienists Association needs to more actively promote understanding of the profession's legal scope as well as of medical personnel's expectations of dental hygienists' legal roles.

This informetrics study was conducted to find out the distribution of articles and authors that published in African Journal of Library, Archives and Information Studies [AJLAIS]) from 2009 to 2018; considering the year-wise growth of research articles; authorship pattern and collaboration ratio; subject and geographical distributions of authors; and authors' productivity level. A descriptive informetrics research design was adopted. Quota sampling technique was used to select all the articles published within the ten-year period. Data collected through a self-designed checklist was analyzed using frequency count and percentage. The findings revealed that 141 articles, contributed by 266 authors were published by AJLAIS during the period. An annual average growth of 1.20% was recorded. Overall year-wise authorship pattern revealed that majority of articles (62.41%) published in AJLAIS were multiple authored. Also, articles on Informetrics and ICT dominated the journal. Some subject areas not covered were identified such as: indexing and serial collections management. Average collaborative index across the 10-year period for the journal was 0.62. South Africa and Nigeria were the two major prolific contributors to AJLAIS, just as evidence-based research papers of survey type (65.25%) were the most common to the journal. There should be increased numbers of articles in each edition over the coming years, and awareness should be created by the publishers to familiarize the researchers with the publishing requirements of the journal. Also, LIS researchers should concentrate more on areas usually left untouched by previous studies. The study is original as no other similar study was found on publication pattern of articles in AJLAIS covering a ten year period of 2009-2018. The findings of the study will also serve as a feedback mechanism for the Publisher of the Journal and LIS researchers on how to improve the journal and LIS research in general.

Knowledge of airflow characteristics in nasal cavities is essential to understand the physiological and pathological aspects of nasal breathing. Several studies have utilized physical models of the healthy nasal cavity to investigate the relationship between nasal anatomy and airflow. In our laboratory, there have been a series of experimental investigations on the nasal airflow in normal, abnormal, and deformed nasal cavity models by PIV under both constant and periodic flow conditions. In this time normal and several deformed nasal cavity models, which simulate surgical operation, Turbinectomy, are investigated numerically by the FVM general purpose code and PIV analysis. The comparisons of these results are appreciated. Dense CT data and careful treatment of model surface under the ENT doctor's advice provide more sophisticated cavity models. The Davis (LaVision Co.) code is used for PIV flow analysis. Average and RMS distributions have been obtained for inspirational and expirational nasal airflows in the normal and deformed nasal cavities.
The objective of this study is to quantitatively evaluate the effects of various SAR speckle reduction methods for multisource land-cover classification by backpropagation neural network, especially over the coastal region. The land-cover classification using neural network has an advantage over conventional statistical approaches in that it is distribution-free and no prior knowledge of the statistical distributions of the classes is needed. The goal of multisource land-cover classification acquired by different sensors is to reduce the classification error, and consequently SAR can be utilized an complementary tool to optical sensors. SAR speckle is, however, an serious limiting factor when it is exploited for land-cover classification. In order to reduce this problem. we test various speckle methods including Frost, Median, Kuan and EPOS. Interpreting the weights about training pixel samples, the “Importance Value” of each SAR images that reduced speckle can be estimated based on its contribution to the classification. In this study, the “Importance Value” is used as a criterion of the effectiveness.

The developmental responses of insects to temperature are important considerations in gaining a better understanding of their ecology and life histories. Temperature-dependent phenology models permit examination of the effects of temperature on the geographical distributions, population dynamics, and management of insects. Measurements of insect developmental and survival responses to temperature pose practical challenges that depend on the chosen modality, variability among individuals, and high mortality rates near the lower and upper threshold temperatures. Different temperature levels can significantly affect larval development of Eurema hecabe. The development of E. hecabe reared on leaves of Lespedeza cuneata was investigated at three temperature regimes (20, 25, and 30℃), a relative humidity of 60%, and a light:dark photoperiod of 14:10 h. The developmental time from larva to adult was 34.3, 20.6, and 17.9 d at temperatures of 20, 25, and 30℃, respectively. Pupal rate was 47.6%, 47.6%, and 61.9% at temperatures of 20, 25, and 30℃, respectively. The developmental threshold temperature estimated from larva to pupae was 8.1℃ with 381.7 degree-days. There is an increasing need for a standardized manual for rearing this butterfly species based on adequate knowledge of its ecology.
The argument-structure distributions of predicates in the speech of two roca-type aphasic patients and one Conduction-type patient are compared with both matched controls and each other on the basis of narrative production data. Whereas English-speaking agrammatics have been reported to have difficulties producing noncopular unaccusative predicates (Kegl 1995) Korean-speaking agrammatics are found not to have particular difficulties with unaccusative predicates. On the assumption that agrammatics lack specific syntactic knowledge for the processing of displaced arguments from their lexically specified positions. it is proposed that unaccusatives in Korean do not involve the displacement of arguments for Case-theoretic reasons or involve a vacuous movement. if any.
For accureate treatment planning, new models of dose calculations are being developed which require the knowledge of the energy spectra and angular distributions of the X-rays incident on the surface of the material. In this present study, we applied the Monte Carlo methods to the systematic analysis of the spectra distribution of X-ray beams produced by medical linear accelerator. As expected, the spectra become softer as the distance is farther from the central axis. also, its influenced by the geometrical dffect of head system.

Reliability analysis of structures based on fracture mechanics requires knowledge on statistical characteristics of the parameter C and m in the fatigue crack growth law, $da/dN=C({\Delta}K)^m$. The purpose of the present study is to investigate if it is possible to predict fatigue crack growth rate by only the fluctuation of the parameter C. In this study, Paris-Erdogan law is adopted, where the author treat the parameter C as random and m as constant. The fluctuation of crack growth rate is assumed only due to the parameter C. The growth resistance coefficient of material to fatigue crack growth (Z=1/C) was treated as a spatial stochastic process, which varies randomly on the crack path. The theoretical crack growth rates at various stress intensity factor range are discussed. Constant ${\Delta}K$ fatigue crack growth tests were performed on the structural steel, SM45C. The experimental data were analyzed to determine the autocorrelation function and Weibull distributions of the fatigue crack growth resistance. And also, the effect of the parameter m of Paris' law due to variation of fatigue crack growth resistance was discussed.

This paper describes an automated system for analyzing the stress intensity factors(SIFs) of three-dimensional (3D) cracks. A geometry model, i.e.a solid containing one or several 3D cracks is defined. Several distributions of local node density are chosen, and then automatically superposed on one another over the geometry model by using the fuzzy knowledge processing. Nodes are generated by the bucketing method, and ten-noded quadratic tetrahedral solid elements are generated by the Delauuay triangulation techniques. The singular elements such that the mid-point nodes near crack fornt are shifted at the quarter-points are automatically placed along the 3D crack front. THe complete finite element (FE) model generated, i.e the mesh with material properties and boundary conditions is given to one of the commercial FE codes, and a stress analysis is performed. The SIFs are calculated using the displacement extrapolation method. To demonstrate practical performance of the present system, a semi- elliptical surface crack in a plate subjected to tension is solved.
Humanity is experiencing a very fast-paced technological evolution. As technological systems evolve exponentially, societies are becoming more global and are starting to have impacts beyond their geographic demarcations. This implies that, the actions of a person who is across the ocean from where we live could have significant impacts on our everyday lives. This article explores the complexity of globalization, identifies a number of global issues, and looks at the University and the Science and Technology Parks as potential sources of human capital to tackle current and forthcoming global challenges, ranging from new energy sources to potable water distributions. The article focuses on current efforts that are taking place across universities and science and technology parks around the world. We propose a new methodology whereby interdisciplinary work can inform the development of multidisciplinary approaches to solve some of the most complex global issues such as cyber security and educating the next generations of global leaders, providing them them with the necessary skills to be successful in a globally distributed workforce.
