참다래를 가해하는 해충과 우점종인 열매꼭지나방의 가해특성 (Investigation of Insect Pests and Injury Characteristics of Stathmopoda auriferella (Walker) on Kiwi Fruit Tree)

  • 1991~1993년에 참다래 집단 재배지역인 전남 남부해안지방을 중심으로 참다래를 가해하는 해충과 우점종인 열매꼭지나방의 가해특성에 관하여 연구한 결과 해충은 총 12과 13종이 조사되었으며 그중 열매꼭지나방과 뽕나무깍지벌레가 우점종이었다. 열매꼭지나방 의 태별크기는 난이 0.12mm, 종령유충이 9.8mm, 용이 5.9mm 그리고 성충의 날개편 길이는 12.3mm이었다. 열매꼭지나방에 의한 피해과율은 평균 45.9%이었으며 지역에 따라 큰 차이를 인정할 수 없었다. 성충은 연 2회발생하며 1회는 5월하순~7월중순 , 2회는 8월중순~9월상순으로 최성기는 각각 6월상중순, 8월하순이었다. 시기별 유충과 용의 비율은 7월상순에서 100:0이었다. 중순은 96.1:3.9, 하순은 64.9:35.1 이었고 8월 상순에는 19.8:80.2, 중순은 0:100이었다. 또한 피해과는 7월상순에 4.6%로 처음 발견되었으며 7월중순 이후에는 40%이상으로서 이 시기의 피해가 당년의 피해정도를 결정하였고 가해하는 부위는 과정부가 70%, 과경부가 11.1%이었으며 품종별로는 국내 주 지배품종인 헤이워드 32.2%, 몬티 22.2% 향록 13.9%, 아보트 9.3%. 브로노 6.0% 이었다.

HPLC를 이용한 지역 농산물의 비타민 B6 함량 분석 (Determination of Vitamin B6 Content using HPLC in Agricultural Products cultivated in Local Areas in Korea)

  • Contents of water soluble vitamin $B_6$ in a total of 62 agricultural products cultivated in local areas in Korea were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detector (HPLC/FLD). To verify the method of vitamin $B_6$ analysis, a quality control chart was formulated with in-house control using a mixture of broccoli and shiitake mushrooms. Among cereals, high content of vitamin $B_6$ measured $234.3{\sim}260.3{\mu}g/100g$ in dried mung bean and soybean. Vitamin $B_6$ content of non-glutinous and glutinous black rice measured $105.0{\mu}g/100g$ and $129.7{\mu}g/100g$, respectively. In vegetables, high content of vitamin $B_6$ were measured in passion fruit ($104.3{\mu}g/100g$), gat ($55.7{\sim}84.3{\mu}g/100g$), gomchwi ($31.3{\sim}88.0{\mu}g/100g$) and garlic ($72.7{\sim}98.3{\mu}g/100g$). Among fruits, gold kiwi 'Zespri' and green kiwi 'Hayward' revealed high vitamin $B_6$ content of $116.3{\mu}g/100g$ and $78.7{\mu}g/100g$, respectively. In persimmons, daebongsi had high vitamin $B_6$ content ($36.0{\sim}72.7{\mu}g/100g$) than bansi and sweet persimmon. Vitamin $B_6$ content in dried jujube and persimmon increased more than $86.7{\mu}g/100g$ compared to fresh materials. Among specialty crops, green tea powder ($64.7{\sim}251.0{\mu}g/100g$) and sansuyu ($172.3{\mu}g/100g$) revealed high content. Of mushrooms, vitamin $B_6$ content of Sparassis crispa ($139.3{\mu}g/100g$) was the highest. Vitamin $B_6$ content information of agricultural products in local areas in Korea collected from this experiment will be used as valuable preliminary data for grasp national nutritional status.

화환 재료로서 참다래나무 절지의 이용 (Utilization of Kiwifruit Branches as a Wreath Material)

  • 화환 재료로서 참다래나무 전정가지의 이용 가능성을 조사하여 화환 재료의 다양화에 기여하고자 본 연구를 실시하였다. 참다래나무(Actinidia deliciosa cv. 'Hayward') 11-15년생 1그루당 전정가지 발생량은 직경 76cm의 화환 I개를 만들 수 있는 분량이었다. 참다래나무 전정가지를 이용해 직경 76cm 화환을 만들 때 31~40cm 길이의 가지 75개가 필요하였다. 직경 76cm인 화환 1개를 만드는데 소요되는 절지비용은 느티나무와 삼지닥나무는 약 6,000원, 화살나무와 말채나무는 약 10,000원이었다. 화훼장식가들은 화환 재료로서 참다래 절지의 광택, 섬세함, 독특한 형태, 색상의 다양함은 기존 상용 절지에 비해 낮게 평가하였으나 곡선의 아름다움, 건조 후의 변화, 이용성 빛 장래성은 좋다고 평가하였다. 따라서 참다래나무 전정가지를 화환 재료로 이용하면 농가의 소득 증가와 화환 재료의 다양화에 기여할 것으로 생각된다.

  • 본 연구는 다래 및 교잡종 다래의 수관층위에 따른 광환경 차이에 따른 광합성능력, 엽 그리고 과실의 특성 변화를 구명하고자 실시하였다. 수관층위별에 따른 광합성속도를 측정한 결과, 수관층위가 높아질수록 광합성 속도가 증가하여 광도 $1,000{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}s^{-1}$에서 하층($5.82{\mu}mol\;CO_2\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$), 중층($7.11{\mu}mol\;CO_2\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$), 상층($9.54{\mu}mol\;CO_2\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$)의 순으로 높은 광합성속도를 나타냈다. 엽의 경우, 수관층위가 높아질수록 엽폭과 엽장 그리고 엽면적이 감소하였다. 즉, 하층, 중층, 상층 수관층위가 증가할수록 엽면적은 162.8, 90.9, $68.3cm^2$ 로 각각 감소하였다. 과실의 경우에는 수관층위가 높아질수록 과실 중량 및 과실 폭과 과실 길이가 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다. 이러한 결과는 상층의 높은 광합성능력이 과실의 생육에 영향을 미친 것으로 수관상층부로의 결과지 유도를 통해 대립성 다래 과실생산이 가능할 것으로 여겨진다.

기후변화와 관련한 제주지역 농업용수의 효율적 활용 방안(I) (An Appropriate Utilization of Agricultural Water Resources of Jeju Island with Climate Change (I))

  • Rainfall, on Jeju Island varies regionally in relation to Mt. Halla with higher rainfall within southern area and lower in western area, and its variability is expected to expand according to the climate change scenario. Non-parametric trend analysis for rainfall, using both historic (1971-2010) and simulated (2011-2100) data assuming the A1B emissions scenario, shows regionally increasing trends with time. In perspective of agricultural land use, area for market garden including various crop types with high water demand is increasing over the Island, especially in the western area with lower rainfall compared to southern area. On the other hand, area for fruit including mandarin and kiwi with low water demand is widely distributed over southern and northern part having higher rainfall. These regional disparity of water demand/supply may be more affected by extreme events such as drought and heavy rainfall that has not yet been considered. Therefore, it is necessary to make policies for water resource management considering both demand and supply in different regions with climate change impacts over Jeju Island.

Food allergy knowledge, perception of food allergy labeling, and level of dietary practice: A comparison between children with and without food allergy experience

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The prevalence of food allergies in Korean children aged 6 to 12 years increased from 10.9% in 1995 to 12.6% in 2012 according to nationwide population studies. Treatment for food allergies is avoidance of allergenic-related foods and epinephrine auto-injector (EPI) for accidental allergic reactions. This study compared knowledge and perception of food allergy labeling and dietary practices of students. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The study was conducted with the fourth to sixth grade students from an elementary school in Yongin. A total of 437 response rate (95%) questionnaires were collected and statistically analyzed. RESULTS: The prevalence of food allergy among respondents was 19.7%, and the most common food allergy-related symptoms were urticaria, followed by itching, vomiting and nausea. Food allergens, other than 12 statutory food allergens, included cheese, cucumber, kiwi, melon, clam, green tea, walnut, grape, apricot and pineapple. Children with and without food allergy experience had a similar level of knowledge on food allergies. Children with food allergy experience thought that food allergy-related labeling on school menus was not clear or informative. CONCLUSION: To understand food allergies and prevent allergic reactions to school foodservice among children, schools must provide more concrete and customized food allergy education.

Selection of KYC 3270, a Cellulolytic Myxobacteria of Sorangium cellulosum, against Several Phytopathogens and a Potential Biocontrol Agent against Gray Mold in Stored Fruit

  • During 2002-2008 in Korea, 455 extracts from myxobacteria consisting of 318 cellulolytic and 137 bacteriolytic myxobacteria were isolated, which were then screened for antifungal activity against the phytopathogens Botrytis cinerea, Colletotrichum acutatum, Penicillium sp., Pyricularia grisea, and Phytophthora capsici. 204 isolates had antifungal activity, causing both a clear zone due to blocked spore germination and inhibition of mycelial growth; most (199) were from cellulolytic (Sorangium cellulosum) and only five were from bacteriolytic myxobacteria. B. cinerea, the best controlled among the five tested pathogens, had a unique group of antifungal isolates of myxobacterial extracts compared to the other pathogens' groups. Among seventy-nine bioactive myxobacteria, four isolates, KYC 3130, KYC 3247, KYC 3248 and KYC 3270, were selected and all were cellulolytic. Liquid culture filtrates of these four myxobacteria were applied to tomato, cherry tomato, strawberry, and kiwi fruits 5 h before inoculation with gray mold conidia; then the treated fruits were placed in an airtight container and the experiment was repeated six to eight times. Incidence (%) of gray mold on fruit of the infected control treatment was 84-98%, whereas it was only 5-21% after the KYC 3270 treatment. After KYC 3270 treatment of the four fruits, mold control was 79-95%, which was highest among the filtrates and statistically the same as treatment with fludioxonil, a registered chemical against gray mold of stored fruits.

영남지방의 무속(巫俗)과 불교(佛敎) 제의(祭儀)에 나타난 음식문화 연구 (A Study on the Food Culture Manifested in the Memorial Rites of the Shamanism and Buddhism in the Young-nam Area)

  • This paper is intended to survey the literature about Shamanistic and Buddhistic memorial services and to examine the food culture manifested in them. In Shamanistic rituals, fish and meat were not prohibited except in special cases whereas Buddhism Prohibited fish and meat. For Shamanistic rituals, rice cake, cooked rice, liquor and the walleye pollack were commonly used. Besides there were such important offerings as a boiled pork head, chestnuts, jujube and persimmons (dried persimmons) . For Buddhistic memorial services, such foods as cooked rice, soup, cooked pot-herbs, saute, rice cake, confectionary (or candies), chestnuts and jujubes, were dedicated such offerings as cooked rice, rice cake, cooked pot-herbs and fruits were commonly used for both Shamanistic and Buddhistic memorial rites. Particular fruits were not prohibited in either case. Buddhistic rites in particular offered such foreign fruits as pineapples, kiwi and oranges, which showed that the foods of Buddhistic memorial services reflected the popular foods of the day more than those of Shamanistic ones. Water (Jung-hwa-su) brought from the well at daybreak for Buddistic memorial rites came from Shamanism, where as oil-and-honey pastry (Yu-gwa) used for Shamanistic rites came from Buddhism, which showed that the offerings of Buddhistic memorial services and Shamanistic ones were influenced by each other.

천연 항균제처리를 병용한 과채류의 자연 저온저장기술 개발에 관한 연구 (Inhibitory Effects of Natural Antimicrobial Agenton Postharvest Decay in Fruits and Vegetables under Natural Low Temperature)

  • In order to prevent the postharvest decay and to promote the freshness retention of fruits and vegetables grapefruit seed extract(GFSE), natural microorganism control agent, was applied to the preservation of fresh fruits and vegetables. Freshfruits and vegetables treated with GFSE and stored in polyethylene film (0.1mm) at 1$0^{\circ}C$-15$^{\circ}C$ of natural low temperature low kept better qualities in color and texture than the GFSE -not- treated control. The treatment using GFSE ina 250ppm to 500ppm concentration seemed to be an effective one for the control of Botrytis cinerea isolated in red wine grapes. After 4 weeks of storage the firmness rate of cucumbers treated with the dilute GFSE was four times higher than that of non-treated ones. GFSE showed effective inhibitory action towards plant pathological bacteria and fungi which were involved in the decay of fruits and vegetables. Minimum inhibitory concentrations of GFSE towards them were in the range of 250ppm to 500ppm .Direct visualization of microbial cells and spores using electron microscopy showed microbial cells and fungal spores the function of which was destroyed by treating with the dilute solutions of GFSE. It was observed that GFSE would reduced disease damages and have bactericide & fungicide properties during the storage of such fruits and vegetables as egg plant, wild edible greens , kumquat, and kiwi fruit.

감마선 조사에 의한 단백질분해효소의 특성변화 (Changes of Proteolytic Enzyme Property by Gamma Irradiation)

  • Effects of gamma irradiation onf the activity and the properties(amino acid compositions, in vitro digestibility and SDS-PAGE pattern) of proteolytic enzymes were investigated. The proteolytic activity of soluble human serine protease, enzyme in kiwi and pineapple decreased 10% and 30~65% by 5 kGy and 30 kGy, respectively. In dried pancreatin and lysozyme, the proteolytic and antimicrobial activities decreased 6~14% and 10~20% by 5kGy and 40kGy, respectively. The analysis of above 10kGy-irradiated soluble human serine protease by SDS-PAGE revealed radiolysis of the enzyme into protein or peptides of lower molecular weights. The irradiation of skim milk, hammastein casein, and lysozyme up to 40kGy had no deleterious effect on either the in vitro digestibility or amino acid compositions.
