To investigate distribution characteristics of heavy metals in soils in the vicinity of King Sejong Station of King George Island, Antarctica, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Pb, Co, Cd, Cr, Ni and Mo contents were investigated under different distances and directions from King Sejong Station. 13 sample sites were distributed from King Sejong Station. In site 4, the Cd content was higher than that in other sites. The Cr content was the highest in site 9, and the Ni and Mn contents were high in site 12. Cu, Co and Zn were highly contained in distance 1~2 km from King Sejong Station. Cd, Cr, Ni and Mo contents were lower, whereas Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Pb and Co contents were higher than other heavy metal contents at all sites.

This study investigates when and why the light pink Dan-ryoung appeared as part of the official uniform of the Joseon Dynasty and which official uniform used the light pink color. The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, books written by scholars, and related laws were used as research materials. The following results were obtained by analyzing the arguments of kings and officials on light pink uniforms and laws related to official uniforms. 1. Red was the color of the king as well as the color of Dang-sang-gwan's Gong-bok (one of the official uniforms). 2. The colors such as To-hong, Dam-hong, Do-hong, Bun-hong, Cheon-hong that appeared in Sang-bok (among official uniforms) were relatively lighter than red. 3. To-hong started to be used in Sang-bok at the time of King Se-jong and was used at the time of King Seong-jong in Sang-bok because it was the preferred color. 4. In the Joseon Dynasty, safflower (the basis of red color dye) was cultivated extensively; in addition, people liked red dyeing because it was relatively easy apply; subsequently, a ban on red dyeing was continually issued. 5. Kings Se-jong and Jung-jong ordered officials to use Do-hong and Bun-hong to distinguish the red color of the king. After Im-jin-oe-ran, Cheon-hong was officially designated the color of Sang-bok. 6. The reasons why Dam-hong was used in official uniforms were twofold: the preference for red-like colors and the influence of the Confucian hierarchy to distinguish the king.

King Se-Jong, who had put much effort into maintaining the national structure, published geological documents to reinforce his authority and through these documents could see the nationwide distribution of medicinal resources. Since then the regional geological documents published in each region included information on the local medical environment of those times. This study is one that focuses on how to specifically understand oriental medicine resources and the contents of ancient medicine by applying the appropriate geological information.

It is well known that the development of mathematics in eastern Asia was based on Chinese mathematics. Investigating Chinese mathematics books that were brought into Chosun, we study how Chinese mathematics influenced Chosun mathematics. Chinese mathematics books were brought into Chosun in three stages, namely basic mathematics books in the era of King SeJong(1397-1450), Chinese mathematics books influenced by western mathematics in the 17th century and finally those with commentaries on mathematics of Song-Yuan era in the 19th century. We also study the process of their importations.

The synthesis of a series of 7-[(Z)-2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-oxyiminoacetamido]-3-(4,6-diamino-1-alkyl-1,3,5-triazinium-2-yl)thiomethyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylates is described. Variations of an oxyimino moiety in the 7-side chain and quaternary ammonium moiety in the 3-side chain were examined and structure-activity relationship was studied. The 4,6-diamino-1-methyl-1,3,5-triazinium-2-yl derivative of the 7-$\alpha$-methoxyimino series of cephalospoins, particularly 7-[(Z)-2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-(methoxyimino)acetamido]-3-(4,6-diamino-1-methyl-1,3,5-triazinium-2-yl)thiomethyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylate(C-1), exhibited broad antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

In the Taenghwa(Buddhist paintings), the clothing habits of the times can be observed since it depicts the lives of people from all walks of life. These 16th century Taenghwas were drawn based on the understanding of the ritual costumes of early Joseon dynasty appearing in works such as oryeui Se-jong-sil-lok; Sejong chronicles and Gyong-guk-Dae-jon. It shows the perception of various types of clothing such as the Myeon-Bok(King's Full Dress), Won-yu-gwan-bok(King's Ceremonial Dress), and Gon-ryong-po(royal robe at work), and describes the early King's Won-yu-gwan-bok in the early Joseon dynasty that equips Bang-sim-gok-ryong(Round Neck Band). Various officials' uniforms and various men's coats are described. From it, one can visually verify the records of Joong-jong-sil-lok; Joongjong chronicles that describes the appearances of various hats and coats. They also tell us that Chang-ot(light outer coat) was worn prior to the 17th century. It also shows us that the ritual costume of women in Koryo was passed down to early Joseon. Also, in regards to the Buddhist priest costumes, the jang-sam's gray color and ga-sa's red color has been passed down until today. The most representative characteristic for clothing materials were horsehair, silk, ramie, hemp, and cotton.

The purpose of this study is to find the theories of public policy in Confucian politics during Choson Dynasty. As a result of the analysis, there are five implications. First, the area of Confucian policy of Choson consisted in authority, organization, financial policy, affection for the people, and li(ritual propriety). Second, major political context had been maintained from King Se-Jong, through King Sung-Jong and King Yeong-Jo to King Jeong-Jo in the perspective of dynasties' characteristic. Third, there were major ideas on Confucius's idea for li in early period, $Zh{\bar{u}}z{\check{i}}^{\prime}s$ idea for the authority in late period and Mencius's idea for financial policy in major risk situation. Fourth, there were five periods with establishment, foundation, crisis, restoration and collapse in the change of public policy. Fifth, $Zh{\bar{u}}z{\check{i}}^{\prime}$ and $Ch{\acute{e}}ng{\cdot}zi$ had influenced bigger than Confucius as a factors of policy making. This study has been promoted the complement of context analysis and understanding of semantic analysis with implementing dictionary using two language with Korean and Chinese.

For the ultimate manufacture of vinegar with watermelon juice, we examined the preliminarily alcoholic fermentation of watermelon juice using Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. ellipsoideus and Kluyveromyces fragilis. The juice contained 3.2% total reducing sugar by the Somogyi-Nelson method. Strains of yeast culture, pH, temperature and concentration of sugar in the juice were important factors affecting alcoholic fermentation. Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. ellipsoideus produced 5.3% alcohol from the juice fortified with 12% glucose under the conditions of pH 5.73 and $27^{\circ}C$ for 8 days. Generally, small quantities of various salts and N-sources affected little the alcoholic fermentation of the juice. The sterilization of the juice by autoclaving improved efficiency of fermentation than that by $SO_2$ sterilization. Determination of alcohol was carried out by the gas chromatographic method using Chromosorb W: Carbowax as packing material.

Many types of new Korean Firearms were developed during the reign of King Se Jong(1418~1450). After the Chong-Tong-Deung-Rok(1448), the Ju-hwa was renamed as the Sin-Gi-Jeon. There was four kinds of rocket propelled arrows : So(small), Chung(medium), Dae(large) and San-hwa(multiple bomblets)-Sin-Gi-Jeon. Dae-Sin-Gi-Jeon is known to be the best and the largest of any rocket propelled arrows in the 15th century. This paper describes its flight test result.

The Han Zeong Mag was the typical hydro-therapy of Korea. It looks like hot air bath of western physical therapy. It developed out of the CHO-SEON, King SE JONG(1422). It is warmed fire of pine wood in the room. At first, it runs a temperature about a few hundred and drop to $80^{\circ}C$ through 12 hours then the room air is exceeding dry. After 12h. reheated in the room. Women makes use of that place with bare body. Because for use salt rub of skin. They have low back pain, pain of muscle, muscle spasm, swelling of arthritis, stiffness of joint and it takes effect on the cosmetic of skin. The treatment effect was excellent to pain(28%), next arthritis(25%). But they have not order for treatment of a doctor. It's dangers of heat stroke and heart disease. Imtortant, must educated method of it's use and danger when it's bad use.
