In this research, the linear electrical generator in wave energy farm utilizing resonance power buoy system is studied. The mechanical resonance characteristics of the buoy and the wave are analyzed to maximize the kinetic energy in a relatively small wave energy area where WRPS is operated. In this research, we chose an analog model of the linear electrical generator of which size is one-hundredth of an actual size of it in WPRS (Wave energy farm utilizing Resonance Power buoy System) prior to verifying the characteristics of actual model of linear electrical generator in WRPS. In addition, the finite element analysis is conducted using commercial electromagnetic analysis software named MAXWELL to examine the electric characteristic of linear generator. Finally, for the verification of dynamic and electric characteristics of linear generator, the prototype was manufactured and the experiments to measure the displacement and the output electric power were performed.
In this paper, the study of analysis of uranium isotopes in environmental samples with a kinetic phosphorescence analyzer (KPA) was described. After leaching uranium fraction from soil and glass material with microwave acid digestion technology, uranium isotopes were purified with UTEVA column, and then measured using KPA. Linearity and repeatability tests for measurement of uranium isotopes were carried out in the uranium standard solution with KPA. The reliability for analytical method of uranium with KPA was validated by its application to uranium standard solution, ground water, IAEA and NIST reference samples.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to present a recoil measurement and analysis of K2 rifle for the development of a virtual reality marksmanship training in the Republic of Korea Army. Methods: For the recoil measurement, a test-bed is built by a barrel that has exact dimensions of K2 rifle and three piezoelectric pressure sensors mounted on the barrel. Data of over 200 rounds of 5.56mm M193 and K100 bullets are collected and analyzed from live fire experiments. For the recoil analysis, both the free recoil method and the gas exhaust aftereffect method are used to calculate a recoil velocity, momentum and kinetic energy of K2 rifle by applying the law of conservation of momentum. In addition, a new method is proposed that uses the third law of motion and the chamber pressure model for the recoil measurement Results: The results show how different between the previous and proposed methods with respect to M193 and K100 bullets of K2 rifle. In M193, the free recoil method demonstrates 1.113, 4.197, and 2.335, the gas exhaust aftereffect method computes 1.698, 6.407, and 5.441, and the proposed method calculates 0.990, 3.734, and 1.848 in recoil velocity, momentum and kinetic energy, respectively. In K100, the free recoil method demonstrates 1.190, 4.487, and 2.669, the gas exhaust aftereffect method computes 1.776, 6.699, and 5.949, and the proposed method calculates 1.060, 3.998, and 2.119 in recoil velocity, momentum and kinetic energy, respectively. Conclusion: This study implements live fire experiments to provide recoil velocity, momentum, and kinetic energy of K2 rifle using both M193 and K100 bullets. For the development of the army virtual reality marksmanship, the results in this paper would be useful to design and produce a gun and/or a rifle of virtual reality.

In this paper molecular dynamics simulations have been carried out to investigate energy and momentum transfer of hydrogen ions impacted on the Ni (100) surface with $45^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$ incident angles. The initial kinetic energies of the hydrogen ion were ranged from 100 eV to 1,600 eV to study the layer-by-layer energy variation as a dependence of incident energies and angles. At low incident energies, the scattering energy transfer is dominated by the normal motion of surface layers due to thermal vibrations and multiple collision effects. For higher incident energies, the scattering energy transfer in a normal direction is greater than that in a parallel direction. In the case of penetration, the amount of transferred energies do not affect much on Ni layers at low incident energy. It was found channeling effects through Ni layers with increasing incident energies.
The progressive collapse phenomenon is generally regarded as dynamic. Due to the impracticality of nonlinear dynamic computations for practitioners, an interest arises for the development of equivalent static pushover procedures. The present paper proposes a methodology to identify such a procedure for sudden column removals, using energetic evaluations to determine the pushover loads to apply. In a dynamic context, equality between the cumulated external and internal works indicates a vanishing kinetic energy. If such a state is reached, the structure is sometimes assumed able to withstand the column removal. Approximations of these works can be estimated using a static computation, leading to an estimate of the displacements at the zero kinetic energy configuration. In comparison with other available procedures based on such criteria, the present contribution identifies loading patterns to associate with the zero-kinetic energy criterion to avoid a single-degree-of-freedom idealisation. A parametric study over a family of regular steel structures of varying sizes uses non-linear dynamic computations to assess the proposed pushover loading pattern for the cases of central and lateral ground floor column failure. The identified quasi-static loading schemes are shown to allow detecting nearly all dynamically detected plastic hinges, so that the various beams are provided with sufficient resistance during the design process. A proper accuracy is obtained for the plastic rotations of the most plastified hinges almost independently of the design parameters (loads, geometry, robustness), indicating that the methodology could be extended to provide estimates of the required ductility for the beams, columns, and beam-column connections.

The three-dimensional numerical analysis for in-cylinder flow of four-valve engine without intake port has been successfully computed. These computations have been performed using technique of the general coordinate transformation based on the finite-volume method and body-fitted non-orthogenal grids using staggered control volume and covariant variable as dependent one. Computations are started at intake valve opening and are carried through top-dead-center of compression. A k-$\varepsilon$model is used to represent turbulent transport of momentum. The principal study is the evolution of interaction between mean flow and turbulence and of the role of swirl and tumble in generating near TDC turbulence. Results for three different inlet flow configuration are presented. From these results, complex flow pattern may be effective for promoting combustion in spark-ignition engines and kinetic energy of mean flow near TDC is well converted into turbulent kinetic energy.
In this work, we extend the previously developed split kinetic energy (dubbed KEP) method by Mineo and Chao (2012) by modifying the mass parameter to include the negative mass. We first show how to separate the total system into the subsystems with 3 attractive delta potentials by using the KEP method. For repulsive delta potentials, we introduce "negative" mass terms. Two cases are demonstrated using the "negative" mass terms for repulsive delta potential problems in quantum mechanics. Our work shows that the KEP solution scheme can be used to obtain not only the exact energies but also the exact wavefunctions very precisely.

Fine grid computations were attempted to analyze the turbulent flows in the near wall low Reynolds number region and the numerical analyses were incorporated by a finite-volume discretization with full find grid system and low Reynolds number k-.epsilon. model was employed in this region. For the improvement of low Reynolds number k-.epsilon. model, modification coefficient of eddy viscosity $f_{\mu}$ was derived as a function of turbulent Reynolds number $R_{+}$ and nondimensional length $y^{+}$ from the concept of two length scales of dissipation rate of turbulent kinetic energy. The modification coefficient $f_{\epsilon}$ in .epsilon. transport equation was also derived theoretically. In the turbulent kinetic energy equation, pressure diffusion term was added in order to consider low Reynolds number region effect. The main characteristics of this low Reynolds number k-.epsilon. model were founded as : (1) In high Reynolds number region, the present model has limiting behavior which approaches to the high Reynolds number model. (2) Present low Reynolds number k-.epsilon. model dose not need additional empirical constants for the transport equations of turbulent kinetic energy and dissipation of turbulent kinetic energy in order to consider wall effect. Present low Reynolds number turbulence model was tested in the pipe flow and obtained improved results in velocity profiles and Reynolds stress distributions compared with those from other k-.epsilon. models.s.s.
A method for application of the equivalent time and temperature point for estimating kinetic parameters was proposed. The feasibility of the method was demonstrated with both theoretical and empirical kinetic data. The theoretical kinetic data were obtained from the arbitrarily chosen time-temperature data for three chemical reactions whose kinetics are well established. The experimental kinetic data were obtained for the acid (0.0005 N HCl) catalyzed hydrolysis of sucrose(2%). The activation energy and the frequency factor determined by the proposed method were $104.74{\pm}1.87kJ/mol\;and\;5.62{\times}10^{14}\;hr^{-1}$ respectively and the results agreed well with those obtained by a different method of kinetic parameter estimation, i.e. the linearly increasing temperature method.
Kinetic parameters on heat-induced color changes of anthocyanin pigment from purple sweet potato were determined in the temperature range of $121{\sim}141^{\circ}C$. Color change determined by a browning index $(A_{532}\;nm/A_{420}\;nm)$ followed second order reaction kinetics. Activation energy values of purple sweet potato pigment solutions of pH 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 were 69.57, 76.68, 81.07 and 92.98 kJ/mol, respectively, indicating that temperature dependency of the reaction increased with pH. Apparent kinetic compensation effect between preex-ponential factor and activation energy value was observed.
