The jet production efficiency of radio galaxies can be quantified by comparison of their kinetic jet powers $P_{jet}$ and Bondi accretion powers $P_B$. These two parameters are known to be related linearly, with the jet power resulting from the Bondi power by multiplication with an efficiency factor of order 1%. Using a recently published (Nemmen & Tchekhovskoy 2014) high-quality sample of 27 radio galaxies, I construct a $P_B$ - $P_{jet}$ diagram that includes information on optical AGN types as far as available. This diagram indicates that the jet production efficiency is a function of AGN type: Seyfert 2 galaxies seem to be systematically (with a false alarm probability of $4.3{\times}10^{-4}$) less efficient, by about one order of magnitude, in powering jets than Seyfert 1 galaxies, LINERs, or the remaining radio galaxies. This suggests an evolutionary sequence from Sy 2s to Sy 1s and LINERs, controlled by an interplay of jets on the one hand and dust and gas in galactic nuclei on the other hand. When taking this effect into account, the $P_B$ - $P_{jet}$ relation is probably much tighter intrinsically than currently assumed.
The purpose of this study was to determine how spandex wear with compressive band affects biomechanical parameters during a golf swing. Nine male golf players, each with at least 6 years golf experienc(handy 4.5${\pm}$5.4), were recruited as the participants. Eight pairs of surface electrodes were attached to the left and right side of the body to monitor the pectoralis major(PM), external abdominal oblique(AO), erector spinae(ES), and vastus lateralis(VL). This study showed that the angular velocity of the club in EG were increased during the down swing phase but X-Factor and X-factor Stretch were reduced. Average and maximum nEMG (normalized EMG) values of the left AO(external abdominal oblique) were less in EG(experimental group) compared with CG(control group) during the back swing, whereas those of left PM(pectoralis major) in EG were greater than CG. It is more likely that EG performed effectively golf swing without excess muscle activity. Thus, the spandex wear with compressive band played an important role in improving swing performance with injury prevention. This has led to suggestions of the need for further kinetic and kinematic analyses to evaluate its function.
Bovine adenosine deaminase undergoes a nondenaturational conformational change at $29^{\circ}C$ upon heating which is characterized by a large increase in heat capacity. We have determined the transition state thermodynamics of the conformational change using a novel application of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) which employs very slow scan rates. DSC scans at the conventional, and arbitrary, scan rate of $1^{\circ}C/min$ show no evidence of the transition. Scan rates from 0.030 to $0.20^{\circ}C/min$ reveal the transition indicating it is under kinetic control. The transition temperature $T_t$ and the transition temperature interval ${\Delta}T$ increase with scan rate. A first order rate constant $k_1$ is calculated at each $T_t$ from $k_1\;=\;r_{scan}/{\Delta}T$, where $r_{scan}$ is the scan rate, and an Arrhenius plot is constructed. Standard transition state analysis reveals an activation free energy ${\Delta}G^{\neq}$ of 88.1 kJ/mole and suggests that the conformational change has an unfolding quality that appears to be on the direct path to the physiological-temperature conformer.
This research deals with the influence of nonlinearities associated with impact and sliding upon the rocking behavior of a rigid block, which is subjected to two-dimensional horizontal and vertical excitation. Nonlinearities in the vibration were found to depend strongly on the effect of the impact between the block and the base, which involves an abrupt reduction in the system's kinetic energy. In particular, when sliding occurs, the rocking behavior is substantially changed. Response analysis using a non-dimensional rocking equation was carried out for a variety of excitation levels and excitation frequencies. The chaos responses were observed over a wide response region, particularly, in the cases of high vertical displacement and violent sliding motion, and the chaos characteristics appear in the time histories, Poincare maps, power spectra and Lyapunov exponents of the rocking responses. The complex behavior of chaotic response, in phase space, is illustrated by the Poincare map. The distribution of the rocking response is described by bifurcation diagrams and the effects of sliding motion are examined through the several rocking response examples.

A method of synthetic time series generation was developed and applied to the simulation of homogeneous turbulence in a periodic 3 - D box and the hourly wind data simulation. The method can simulate almost exact sample auto and cross correlations of multiple time series and control non-Gaussian distribution. Using the turbulence simulation, influence of correlations, non-Gaussian distribution, and one-direction anisotropy on homogeneous structure were studied by investigating the spatial distribution of turbulence kinetic energy and enstrophy. An hourly wind data of Typhoon Robin was used to illustrate a capability of the method to simulate sample cross correlations of multiple time series. The simulated typhoon data shows a similar shape of fluctuations and almost exactly the same sample auto and cross correlations of the Robin.
Ultrafine titanium carbide particles were synthesized by the reaction of liquid-magnesium and vaporized TiCl$_{4}$+C$_{x}$Cl$_{4}$(x = 1 and 2) solution. Fine titanium carbide particles with about 50 nm were successfully produced by combining Ti and C atoms released by chloride reduction of magnesium, and vacuum was then used to remove the residual phases of MgCl$_{2}$ and excess Mg. Small amounts of impurities such as O, Fe, Mg and Cl were detected in the product, but such problem can be solved by more precise process control. The lattice parameter of the product was 0.43267 nm, near the standard value. With respect to the reaction kinetics, the activation energy for the reactions of TiCl$_{4}$+C$_{2}$Cl$_{4}$and Mg was found to 69 kJ/mole, which was about half value against the use of TiCl$_{4}$+CCl$_{4}$, and such higher reactivity of the former contributed to increase the stoichiometry until the level of TiC$_{0.96}$ and decrease the free carbon content below 0.3 wt.%.
The chemistry and performance characteristics of the EBDS process have been introduced, in which experimental results from laboratory, test plant, and pilot plant studies agree very well and can be understood from detailed kinetic models. The parametric dependencies of the NOx and $SO_2$, removal yields on the input conditions have been discussed and formulated quantitatively. The process is best suited for flue gas with high $SO_2$, loadings. The operation conditions, such as dose, ammonia, and water additions, can be adjusted fast upon load changes. The process works waste water free and the major product is a mixture of ammonium nitrate and sulfate that can be used as fertilizer. The up-date results show that the EBDS technology is safe and competitive with other already well-established technologies. Due to these interesting features, the electron beam process has gained much international recognition. Demonstration units of 100MW have been proposed in the United States and Japan. Further pilot plants are under construction in Poland and China, countries that make abundant use of highsulfur coal. Additional research activities are under way to further improve the energy efficiency of process, and accelerator prices have been decreasing during the past 10 years. So the EBDS process has a good chance to start a new generation of emission-control technology.

Reaction of [(bpy)Pd]$(PF_6)_2$ (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) with racemic bis(isonicotinoyl)-1,1'-bi-2-naphtholate (L) in acetone, and followed by addition of chloroform and solvent evaporation allows to form amorphous micro-bowl morphology consisting of $[(bpy)PdL]_2(PF_6)_4$ without any template or additive. In contrast, the reaction and recrystallization in acetone for 1 week produce parallel-piped single crystals consisting of $[(bpy)_3Pd_3({\mu}_3-HPO_4)_2](PF_6)_2$. The formations of micro-bowl and parallel-piped single crystal morphologies appear to be primarily associated with the kinetic and thermodynamic control, respectively. The formation of micro-bowls may be attributed to eruption of organic solvents. Cosolvent effects and chemical properties on the formation of micro-bowl morphology have been observed.

Levels of carbon dioxide gas, a metabolite of microbial growth, have been reported to parallel the onset of microbial spoilage and may be used as a convenient index for a packaged food's shelf life. This study aimed to establish a kinetic model of $CO_2$ production from perishable food for the potential use for shelf life control in the food supply chain. Aerobic bacterial count and package $CO_2$ concentration were measured during the storage of seasoned pork meat at four temperatures (0, 5, 10 and $15^{\circ}C$), and their interrelationship was investigated to establish a mathematical model. The microbial growth at constant temperature was described by using model of Baranyi and Roberts. $CO_2$ production from the stored food could be explained by taking care of its yield and maintenance factors linked to the microbial growth. By establishing the temperature dependence of the microbial growth and $CO_2$ yield factor, $CO_2$ partial pressure or concentration in package headspace could be estimated to a limited extent, which is helpful for controlling the shelf life under constant and dynamic temperature conditions. Application and efficacy of the model needs to be improved with further refinement in the model.

When there is a lack of detailed kinetic information, dFBA(dynamic flux balance analysis) has correctly predicted cellular behavior under given environmental conditions with FBA and different ial equations. However, until now, dFBA has centered on substrate concentration, cell growth, and gene on/off, but a detailed hierarchical structure of a regulatory network has not been taken into account. For this reason, the dFBA has limited the represen tation of interactions between specific regulatory proteins and genes and the whole transcriptional regulation mechanism with environmental change. Moreover, to calculate optimal metabolic flux distribution which maximizes the growth flux and predict the b ehavior of cell system, linear programming package(LINDO) and spreadsheet package(EXCEL) have been used simultaneously. thses two software package have limited in the visual representation of simulation results and it can be difficult for a user to look at the effects of changing inputs to the models. Here, we descirbes the construction of hierarchical regulatory network with defined symbolsand the development of an integrated system that can predict the total control mechanism of regulatory elements (opero ns, genes, effectors, etc.), substrate concentration, growth rate, and optimal flux distribution with time. All programming procedures were accoplished in a visual programming environment (LabVIEW).
