Existing pedagogical issues of digital design including BIM have been focused not on potential of Digital Design but on skills of BIM or digital modeling tool. Kinetic facade can move or change material state to react surrounding environment conditions. It is a suitable design object for teaching principle of Performance Oriented Digital Design. Variables of movements affect multi-criteria of performances of kinetic facade, so different design approach from fixed facade design should be explored. Kinetic facade design process is proposed to study pedagogical issues of Performance Oriented Digital Design in this paper. Through Kinetic facade design process, students can understand conditions, variables, and performances of digital design.
Background: The wall squat is considered an effective exercise because it can reduce the knee load and prevent excessive lumbar movement. However, the relationship between wall squat performance and strength of knee extensors and hip extensors remained unclear. Objects: The purpose of this study was to compare the strengths of the knee extensors and hip extensors between groups with low and high wall squat performance. Method: Nineteen males (low performance group: 9 subjects, high performance group: 10 subjects) participated in this study and performed wall squats. The subjects who were performing less than 30% of the average wall squat count were classified into the low wall squat performance group (less than or equal to 4 times) and the subjects who performed more than 30% of the average wall squat count were classified into the high wall squat performance group (greater than or equal to 8 times). Knee extensor and hip extensor strength were measured with a strength measurement system. An independent t-test was used to compare the strengths of the knee extensors and hip extensors between the groups with low and high wall squat performance. Results: The ratios of knee extensor and hip extensor strength to bodyweight were greater in the high wall squat performance group than in the low wall squat performance group (knee extensors: p<.001; hip extensors: p=.03). In the high- and low-performance groups, the ratios of knee extensor strength to bodyweight were $42.74{\pm}5.72$ and $30.76{\pm}8.54$, respectively, and the ratios of hip extensor strength to bodyweight were $31.95{\pm}10.61$ and $20.66{\pm}11.25$, respectively. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that knee extensor and hip extensor strength are needed for high wall squat performance. Thus, exercise to increase the knee and hip extensors strength can be recommended to improve squat performance.
In this paper we deal with a kinetic performance test system using hydraulic cylinder. It is possible to measure only current using the conventional electro-mechanical actuator when the bogie is in the process of the tilting. This makes impossible to measure the force acting on the tilting actuator. In order to overcome this problem a kinetic performance test system using hydraulic cylinder is proposed. The proposed system provide easy kinetic evaluation for the tilting mechanism and evaluation for the co-relation between load acting on the tilting actuator and the moving displacement(strock) of the tilting actuator.
Background: The wall squat exercise has been recommended for strengthening of the lower extremity muscles with maintaining lumbar lordosis. Although squat has been studied to be related to lower extremity extensor strength, the relationship between wall squat and lower extremity extensor strength unclear. Because squat and wall squat are biomechanically different, study on the relationship is needed. Objects: The purpose of this study was to determine the lower extremity extensor strength associated with wall squat performance. Methods: 74 healthy volunteers were recruited to participate in this study. The volunteers were measured hip and knee extensors strength and then performed wall squat exercise for maximum count. Results: We found significant relationships between wall squat performance and hip extensor strength normalized by body weight, knee extensor strength normalized by body weight and the composite value. In a regression analysis, hip extensor strength normalized by body weight explained 29% of the variation in wall squat performance in males and 35% in females. Conclusion: These results demonstrate that hip extensor strength normalized by body weight is critical to wall squat performance in both sexes.

In order to substitute current aluminum sabot and to increase the penetration performance of the kinetic energy projectiles, the research and development program for composites sabot has been conducted. For carbon/epoxy composites sabot, unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced epoxy prepreg was chosen and thick sectioned composites preforms with the different fiber angles along the circumferential direction of sabot were prepared by compression molding under the careful processing conditions at $150^{\circ}C$ for 1hour with $70kgf/cm^2$ curing pressure. The composites sabot demonstrated a weight reduction by approximately 30% than that of current aluminum sabot. The muzzle velocity of a kinetic energy projectile with composites sabot was measured to be about 63m/s higher than that with aluminum sabot. These results imply that the penetration performance is expected to be considerably increased when the composite sabot is applied to the kinetic energy projectiles.
This study aims at examining kinetic efficient shading systems and their implementation methods. These days, the importance of the shading devices are getting more significant due to the energy problem. Cordially, suitable shade designs are required as an important element for the exterior envelope of the building. This study employs the optimal shading design as an efficient shading method with the kinetic system that can be converted actively by the altitude of the sun. The proposed kinetic shading system works not only as a lightshelf in case the altitude of the sun is high but also as a vertical louver when the sun is getting lower in order to block the direct sunlight. This study has analyzed the thermal performance and shading coefficient of the kinetic shading system in comparison to existing fixed shading devices using the Ecotect. The results, in sum, conclude that the suggested kinetic shading system could decrease direct sunlights 26.2% more than the existing shading methods.

In the present study, the flame factor which primarily influence the simulation accuracy of the combustion process in a gasoline engine was modeled as a nonlinear function of turbulent intensity to laminar flame speed ratio. Multi-length-scale production rate model for turbulent kinetic energy equation was introduced to consider the different length scales of the swirling and tumbling motions in cylinder on the production rte of turbulent kinetic energy. By7 introducing the multi-length-scale production rate model for the turbulent kinetic energy equation, the predictions of turbulent burning velocity , cylinder pressure, mass burning rate and engine performance of a gasoline engine can much be improved.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of open and closed kinetic chain exercises with a sling on neck flexor thickness during chin-in movement in office workers with forward head posture. Methods: Thirty-one selected subjects randomly performed chin-in movement in open kinetic chain and closed kinetic chain exercises using a sling. All subjects were measured for their neck flexor thickness using ultrasound measurement equipment during the performance of chin-in movement in open and closed kinetic chain exercised. A paired t-test was used to compare the thickness of the total neck flexor, superficial, and deep neck flexor, respectively, between open and closed kinetic chain exercises with chin-in movement. Results: The thickness of the superficial neck flexor diminished in size more greatly during the chin-in movement with the closed kinetic chain than the open kinetic chain, but this was not a statistically significant difference (p > 0.05). On the other hand, the thickness of the total neck flexor and deep neck flexor had more greatly increased during the chin-in movement with the closed kinetic chain than the open kinetic chain, and this was a statistically significant differences (p < 0.05). Conclusion: This study suggested that chin-in movement with a closed kinetic chain is more effective in activating the deep neck flexor than the open kinetic chain. Thus, we believe that the closed kinetic chain exercise using a sling is an effective intervention to correct the postural alignment of individuals with forward head posture.

Vehicles usually have 3 types of speed pattern like acceleration, travel, and deceleration. It requires much driving energy from engine while accelerating, preserves much kinetic energy by inertia moment at travel speed, and releases the kinetic energy to the air while decelerating by the break system. If we accumulate the kinetic energy while decelerating and reuse the energy at the accelerating stage, then it can elevate the fuel efficiency, reduce the emission and improve the motive power. This paper proposes a hydraulic type energy regenerative system which converts the kinetic energy into hydraulic energy at the stage of deceleration and reuses it at the starting and accelerating stage of vehicles. The test equipment which has the field condition of city bus was prepared to evaluate the performance for energy regeneration. The test results show that both energy regeneration efficiency and fuel efficiency are improved significantly and the emission is reduced notably.

The objective of this research was to evaluate the suitability of sigmoidal and firstorder kinetic equations for simulating the methane production from solid wastes. The sigmoidal kinetic equations used were modified Gompertz and Logistic equations. Statistical criteria used to evaluate equation performance were analysis of goodness-of-fit (Residual sum of squares, Root mean squared error and Akaike's Information Criterion). Akaike's Information Criterion (AIC) was employed to compare goodness-of-fit of equations with same and different numbers of parameters. RSS and RMSE were decreased for first-order kinetic equation with lag-phase time, compared to the first-order kinetic equation without lag-phase time. However, first-order kinetic equations had relatively higher AIC than the sigmoidal kinetic equations. It seemed that the sigmoidal kinetic equations had better goodness-of-fit than the first-order kinetic equations in order to simulate the methane production.
