Kim et al.. (2003) developed an Economic Instability Index (EII) by using mean squared error (MSE) from the neural network (NN) trained on the 1995 KOSPI. In this paper we study validity of the NN. For this we compare the NN with the well known Box-Jenkins linear auto-regressive processes. Our conclusive understanding of the problem is that the NN provides quite effective EII because it tends to overfit.

This study was intended to develop and suggest 'residents-driven and citizen-participatory restoration procedures' for degraded ecosystems in BaigDooDaeGahn. With some concerns of current engineering-focused restoration approach for damaged ecosystem, the proposed procedures were designed based on the analysis of several case studies on citizen participatory projects such as the Habitat Movement, the Taean tidal wetland restoration effort in Korea, and some historical and innovative cases in Japan and the United States. The suggested procedures were considered to be a dialectical spiral model which was consisted of two goal axis, six system elements, four developmental stages, and five restoration steps. The new system and procedures were applied to damaged farmland areas (about 0.3 ha) on the top of BaigDooDaeGahn, Kangneung city with participation of more than 100 local residents and a dozen of citizen from Seoul. Both high level of possibilities and some barriers for future extended application were identified and adopted for the final version of the proposed procedures for ecological restoration.

A law and enforcement ordinance related to "ubiquitous city" (U-city) has been announced officially in Korea and practical standardization which is connected with U-city is in progress. The U-city defines citywide service over a city providing its infrastructure. The key facilities of U-city include intelligent equipments, networks, and operational facilities. Especially, the main focus of them is the intelligent equipments that are defined as facilities being applied to information technology. However, U-city has not been provided with standards related to actual construction of intelligent equipments so far. In this article, we survey standards for intelligent equipments for existing infrastructure and U-city's services.

유비쿼터스도시(u-City) 에서 제공할 서비스 즉, u-City서비스를 실제로 구현하기 위해서 사용되는 기술을 u-City 기술이라고 할 수 있다 본 논문에서는 u-City서비스, u-City 기반시설 그리고 u-City 기술들 간의 관계를 명확히 설명하기 위한 도구로서 u-City 기술 참조모델을 정의하였다. 이러한 참조모델을 사용함으로써 u-City 구축자, 서비스 제공자, 운영자, 이용자 등 여러 u-City 참여자들이 공감할 수 있는 서비스-기술 연계 모델을 제시하였으며 향후 u-IT 세부 기술이 발전하고 새로운 u-City 서비스가 추가되어도 이를 원활히 수용할 수 있도록 하였다.

This paper comprises of details of the infrastructure issues of demonstration schemes for EVs worldwide. The aim of the paper is to highlight the different approaches being lused and to assess their effectiveness.
