  • Ischemic stroke is caused by an occlusion by a thrombus or embolus in a cerebral artery, preventing oxygenated blood from reaching the brain and causing the necrosis of nerve cells. This paper summarizes the serum candidate markers associated with cardiovascular disease and atrial fibrillation (AF) disease that enable an early diagnosis of ischemic stroke studied thus far and compares the odds ratio (OR) of each marker. This study examined the effect size of these serum candidate markers using meta-analysis techniques. The academic database search screening for articles containing the keywords "cardiovascular disease," "atrial fibrillation," "ischemic stroke," and "serum marker" was limited to results for patients with ischemic stroke. The most derived markers in this study were N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-pro-BNP), D-dimer, C-reactive protein (CRP), and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), the rest being investigated individually. In conclusion, NT-pro-BNP appears to be very useful for the early diagnosis of ischemic stroke. Primarily, it is a marker of AF, and more AF markers will be uncovered and studied in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the integrated search services for integrated libraries operated by local governments in Korea. The target of analysis was integrated libraries operated by 25 local governments in Seoul, and the analysis elements were selected from service functions in 12 areas related to integrated search. The results of the study are as follows. First, the integrated library is an association of public libraries and small libraries in autonomous districts and provides integrated search services. The provided integrated search service function, types of bibliographic information, and facets are not diverse. Second, the records in the search results were mostly item types, not title types. Third, enrichment information supplementing book information consists of book introductions, related information, book-related keywords, and loan-related information. Fourth, integrated search shows the form of integrated OPAC based on integrated catalog DB rather than discovery-type search. It concentrates on providing an integrated search for catalog DBs distributed in public libraries or small libraries in the autonomous district. Fifth, most integrated libraries provide similar service types. Based on these results, improvement plans were proposed for domestic public libraries to expect discovery-type integrated search services.

  • With the development of electronic journals and the emergence of various interdisciplinary studies, the selection of journals for publication has become a new challenge for researchers. Even if a paper is of high quality, it may face rejection due to a mismatch between the paper's topic and the scope of the journal. While research on assisting researchers in journal selection has been actively conducted in English, the same cannot be said for Korean journals. In this study, we propose a system that recommends Korean journals for submission. Firstly, we utilize SBERT (Sentence BERT) to embed abstracts of previously published papers at the document level, compare the similarity between new documents and published papers, and recommend journals accordingly. Next, the order of recommended journals is determined by considering the similarity of abstracts, keywords, and title. Subsequently, journals that are similar to the top recommended journal from previous stage are added by using a dictionary of words constructed for each journal, thereby enhancing recommendation diversity. The recommendation system, built using this approach, achieved a Top-10 accuracy level of 76.6%, and the validity of the recommendation results was confirmed through user feedback. Furthermore, it was found that each step of the proposed framework contributes to improving recommendation accuracy. This study provides a new approach to recommending academic journals in the Korean language, which has not been actively studied before, and it has also practical implications as the proposed framework can be easily applied to services.

  • Recently, the satellite industry has been paying attention to the private-led 'New Space' paradigm, which is a departure from the traditional government-led industry. The space industry, which is considered to be the next food industry, is still receiving relatively little attention in Korea compared to the global market. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore future signals that can help determine the market entry strategies of private companies in the domestic satellite industry. To this end, this study utilizes the theoretical background of future signal theory and the Keyword Portfolio Map method to analyze keyword potential in patent document data based on keyword growth rate and keyword occurrence frequency. In addition, news data was collected to categorize future signals into first symptom and early information, respectively. This is utilized as an interpretive indicator of how the keywords reveal their actual potential outside of patent documents. This study describes the process of data collection and analysis to explore future signals and traces the evolution of each keyword in the collected documents from a weak signal to a strong signal by specifically visualizing how it can be used through the visualization of keyword maps. The process of this research can contribute to the methodological contribution and expansion of the scope of existing research on future signals, and the results can contribute to the establishment of new industry planning and research directions in the satellite industry.

  • This study reviews the limit of image search by considering on the image search methods related to content-based image retrieval and suggests a user interface for more efficient content-based image retrieval and the ways to utilize image properties. For now, most studies on image search are being performed focusing on content-based image retrieval; they try to search based on the image's colors, texture, shapes, and the overall form of the image. However, the results are not satisfactory because there are various technological limits. Accordingly, this study suggests a new retrieval system which adapts content-based image retrieval and the conventional keyword search method. This is about a way to attribute properties to images using texts and a fast way to search images by expressing the attribute of images as keywords and utilizing them to search images. Also, the study focuses on a simulation for a user interface to make query language on the Internet and a search for clothes in an online shopping mall as an application of the retrieval system based on image attribute. This study will contribute to adding a new purchase pattern in online shopping malls and to the development of the area of similar image search.
