Intrusion detection has been widely studied in both industry and academia, but cybersecurity analysts always want more accuracy and global threat analysis to secure their systems in cyberspace. Big data represent the great challenge of intrusion detection systems, making it hard to monitor and analyze this large volume of data using traditional techniques. Recently, deep learning has been emerged as a new approach which enables the use of Big Data with a low training time and high accuracy rate. In this paper, we propose an approach of an IDS based on cloud computing and the integration of big data and deep learning techniques to detect different attacks as early as possible. To demonstrate the efficacy of this system, we implement the proposed system within Microsoft Azure Cloud, as it provides both processing power and storage capabilities, using a convolutional neural network (CNN-IDS) with the distributed computing environment Apache Spark, integrated with Keras Deep Learning Library. We study the performance of the model in two categories of classification (binary and multiclass) using CSE-CIC-IDS2018 dataset. Our system showed a great performance due to the integration of deep learning technique and Apache Spark engine.
Purpose: Periodontal disease causes tooth loss and is associated with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis. The present study proposes using a deep learning-based object detection method to identify periodontally compromised teeth on digital panoramic radiographs. A faster regional convolutional neural network (faster R-CNN) which is a state-of-the-art deep detection network, was adapted from the natural image domain using a small annotated clinical data- set. Materials and Methods: In total, 100 digital panoramic radiographs of periodontally compromised patients were retrospectively collected from our hospital's information system and augmented. The periodontally compromised teeth found in each image were annotated by experts in periodontology to obtain the ground truth. The Keras library, which is written in Python, was used to train and test the model on a single NVidia 1080Ti GPU. The faster R-CNN model used a pretrained ResNet architecture. Results: The average precision rate of 0.81 demonstrated that there was a significant region of overlap between the predicted regions and the ground truth. The average recall rate of 0.80 showed that the periodontally compromised teeth regions generated by the detection method excluded healthiest teeth areas. In addition, the model achieved a sensitivity of 0.84, a specificity of 0.88 and an F-measure of 0.81. Conclusion: The faster R-CNN trained on a limited amount of labeled imaging data performed satisfactorily in detecting periodontally compromised teeth. The application of a faster R-CNN to assist in the detection of periodontally compromised teeth may reduce diagnostic effort by saving assessment time and allowing automated screening documentation.
This paper presents a deep learning-based road segmentation framework from very high-resolution orthophotos. The proposed method uses Deep Convolutional Autoencoders for end-to-end mapping of orthophotos to road segmentations. In addition, a set of post-processing steps were applied to make the model outputs GIS-ready data that could be useful for various applications. The optimization of the model's parameters is explained which was conducted via grid search method. The model was trained and implemented in Keras, a high-level deep learning framework run on top of Tensorflow. The results show that the proposed model with the best-obtained hyperparameters could segment road objects from orthophotos at an average accuracy of 88.5%. The results of optimization revealed that the best optimization algorithm and activation function for the studied task are Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) and Exponential Linear Unit (ELU), respectively. In addition, the best numbers of convolutional filters were found to be 8 for the first and second layers and 128 for the third and fourth layers of the proposed network architecture. Moreover, the analysis on the time complexity of the model showed that the model could be trained in 4 hours and 50 minutes on 1024 high-resolution images of size $106{\times}106pixels$, and segment road objects from similar size and resolution images in around 14 minutes. The results show that the deep learning models such as Convolutional Autoencoders could be a best alternative to traditional machine learning models for road segmentation from aerial photographs.
Purpose: The aim of the current study was to develop a computer-assisted detection system based on a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithm and to evaluate the potential usefulness and accuracy of this system for the diagnosis and prediction of periodontally compromised teeth (PCT). Methods: Combining pretrained deep CNN architecture and a self-trained network, periapical radiographic images were used to determine the optimal CNN algorithm and weights. The diagnostic and predictive accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, area under the ROC curve, confusion matrix, and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using our deep CNN algorithm, based on a Keras framework in Python. Results: The periapical radiographic dataset was split into training (n=1,044), validation (n=348), and test (n=348) datasets. With the deep learning algorithm, the diagnostic accuracy for PCT was 81.0% for premolars and 76.7% for molars. Using 64 premolars and 64 molars that were clinically diagnosed as severe PCT, the accuracy of predicting extraction was 82.8% (95% CI, 70.1%-91.2%) for premolars and 73.4% (95% CI, 59.9%-84.0%) for molars. Conclusions: We demonstrated that the deep CNN algorithm was useful for assessing the diagnosis and predictability of PCT. Therefore, with further optimization of the PCT dataset and improvements in the algorithm, a computer-aided detection system can be expected to become an effective and efficient method of diagnosing and predicting PCT.

Methamphetamine (MA) is currently the most abused illicit drug in Korea. MA is produced by chemical synthesis, and the final target drug that is produced contains small amounts of the precursor chemicals, intermediates, and by-products. To identify and quantify these trace compounds in MA seizures, a practical and feasible approach for conducting chromatographic fingerprinting with a suite of traditional chemometric methods and recently introduced machine learning approaches was examined. This was achieved using gas chromatography (GC) coupled with a flame ionization detector (FID) and mass spectrometry (MS). Following appropriate examination of all the peaks in 71 samples, 166 impurities were selected as the characteristic components. Unsupervised (principal component analysis (PCA), hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA), and K-means clustering) and supervised (partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA), support vector machines (SVM), and deep neural network (DNN) with Keras) chemometric techniques were employed for classifying the 71 MA seizures. The results of the PCA, HCA, K-means clustering, PLS-DA, OPLS-DA, SVM, and DNN methods for quality evaluation were in good agreement. However, the tested MA seizures possessed distinct features, such as chirality, cutting agents, and boiling points. The study indicated that the established qualitative and semi-quantitative methods will be practical and useful analytical tools for characterizing trace compounds in illicit MA seizures. Moreover, they will provide a statistical basis for identifying the synthesis route, sources of supply, trafficking routes, and connections between seizures, which will support drug law enforcement agencies in their effort to eliminate organized MA crime.
Flood prediction is an important issue to prevent damages by flood inundation caused by increasing high-intensity rainfall with climate change. In recent years, machine learning algorithms have been receiving attention in many scientific fields including hydrology, water resources, natural hazards, etc. The performance of a machine learning algorithm was investigated to predict the water elevation of a river in this study. The aim of this study was to develop a new method for securing a large enough lead time for flood defenses by predicting river water elevation using the a long- short-term memory (LSTM) technique. The water elevation data at the Oisong gauging station were selected to evaluate its applicability. The test data were the water elevation data measured by K-water from 15 February 2013 to 26 August 2018, approximately 5 years 6 months, at 1 hour intervals. To investigate the predictability of the data in terms of the data characteristics and the lead time of the prediction data, the data were divided into the same interval data (group-A) and time average data (group-B) set. Next, the predictability was evaluated by constructing a total of 36 cases. Based on the results, group-A had a more stable water elevation prediction skill compared to group-B with a lead time from 1 to 6 h. Thus, the LSTM technique using only measured water elevation data can be used for securing the appropriate lead time for flood defense in a river.

The amount of data generated from medical images is increasingly exceeding the limits of professional visual analysis, and the need for automated medical image analysis is increasing. For this reason, this study evaluated the classification and accuracy according to the presence or absence of tumor using Inception V3 deep learning model, using MRI medical images showing normal and tumor findings. As a result, the accuracy of the deep learning model was 90% for the training data set and 86% for the validation data set. The loss rate was 0.56 for the training data set and 1.28 for the validation data set. In future studies, it is necessary to secure the data of publicly available medical images to improve the performance of the deep learning model and to ensure the reliability of the evaluation, and to implement modeling by improving the accuracy of labeling through labeling classification.

The limitations of applying a variety of artificial intelligence to the medical community are, first, subjective views, extensive interpreters and physical fatigue in interpreting the image of an interpreter's illness. And there are questions about how long it takes to collect annotated data sets for each illness and whether to get sufficient training data without compromising the performance of the developed deep learning algorithm. In this paper, when collecting basic images based on acne data sets, the selection criteria and collection procedures are described, and a model is proposed to classify data into small loss rates (5.46%) and high accuracy (96.26%) in the sequential structure. The performance of the proposed model is compared and verified through a comparative experiment with the model provided by Keras. Similar phenomena are expected to be applied to the field of medical and skin care by applying them to the acne classification model proposed in this paper in the future.

The blind people have difficulty living an independent clothing life. The furniture and home appliance are adding AI or IoT with the recent growth of the smart appliance market. To support the independent clothing life of the blind, this paper suggests a smart wardrobe with closet control function, voice recognition function and clothes information recognition using CNN algorithm. The number of layers of the model was changed and Maxpooling was adjusted to create the model to increase accuracy in the process of recognizing clothes. Early Stopping Callback option is applied to ensure learning accuracy when creating a model. We added Dropout to prevent overfitting. The final model created by this process can be found to have 80 percent accuracy in clothing recognition.
Image classification through deep learning on the image from photographs has been a very active research field for the past several years. In this paper, we propose a method of automatically discriminating stone images from domestic source through deep learning, which is to use Python's hash library to scan 300×300 pixel photo images of granites such as Hwangdeungseok, Goheungseok, and Pocheonseok, performing data preprocessing to create learning images by examining duplicate images for each stone, removing duplicate images with the same hash value as a result of the inspection, and deep learning by stone. In addition, to utilize VGGNet, the size of the images for each stone is resized to 224×224 pixels, learned in VGG16 where the ratio of training and verification data for learning is 80% versus 20%. After training of deep learning, the loss function graph and the accuracy graph were generated, and the prediction results of the deep learning model were output for the three kinds of stone images.
