One of today's most frequently discussed topics in the business world is how to escape from the intense red ocean and how to create an uncontested blue ocean. However, because there are few practical guidelines available on this topic, we will introduce a case study of an autobus company to show how it aspires to be a leader in the newly introduced autobus industry in Indonesia. Analyzed through a strategy canvas, Kano model, four actions framework and characterized as Kano-Blue Ocean approach, this case study provides valuable information on how accompany reinforces its competitive advantage from the red ocean while it transitions into a blue ocean by creating an innovative marketing strategy. This study provides a good example in the field of marketing and innovation management.

This study singled out 30 smart car features and surveyed 250 respondents. Assuming that the relationship between fulfillment of a feature or a customer need and the satisfaction with that feature is not necessarily linear, this study was conducted using Kano's method. Two devices, Timko Deviation(TD) and Kano Distribution Index(KDI), were devised to help evaluate resulting Kano table quantitatively. Previous research based on Kano's original framework showed the limit to the analysis of new or unfamiliar features: more than 85% of the features surveyed turned out to be either Attractive or Indifferent attributes. This study attempted a new empirical approach by applying customer experiences, price conditions, and customer self-stated importance. The results showed that customer experience of the surveyed features affected the overall satisfaction level, signifying that Kano's method should be conducted with care when analyzing emerging technologies such as smart cars. It is expected that this study would be utilized for better understanding of the perception and trends of customers regarding new technologies. This study also suggests a new approach to the analysis of customer requirements by providing price conditions.
The purpose of this study was to empirically examine the customer oriented quality creation by considering quality elements required by customers in the product design process. The study tried to extract attractive quality elements by using Kano's model. After identifying the elements HOQ(the house of quality) of QFD(quality function deployment) was used to identify the trend of quality elements evaluation. Test for equal means (t-test) was applied to verify the attractive quality elements of adult shoes. It made us find the customer oriented quality elements from the customer needs and latent dissatisfaction. We collected the opinions of experts on shoes and complete the cause and effect diagram and affinity diagram (KJ method). The data of the questionnaire was put to the QFD and the contents of quality elements was identified by brain storming method. We calculated indexes which were the multiplication of weight and marks of quality elements in the cross table of the HOQ by QFD. Then we tested for the equality of means between the indexes and the sum of attractive quality elements. The results for equal means were statistically significant. To create the customer quality the product design should be differentiated between the age groups over attractive quality elements.
Traditionally, one uses a method of straight-line recognition to evaluate quality of product or service. One can satisfy with the product or service if their physical requirement of are met some criterions and can not satisfy them if their physical requirement are not met. Kano, et al(1984) introduce two dimensional Quality model to evaluate quality of product or service. They classify Quality Characteristic of product and service to three categories; satisfying quality, attractive quality, expected quality. In this paper, 17 evaluation features in 6 categories of smart-card are obtained from Focus-interview and Brainstorming and classified into 3 categories of quality model by Kano's two dimensional method. This classification is expected to provide a guideline for evaluation of smart-card.
Logistic enterprises want to be competitive enterprises in fierce logistic market and worry about the securement of discriminative competitiveness for it. The standards for the judgement of logistic industry's maintenance of competitiveness are not only economic feasibility of logistic costs but also the satisfaction of users because well-established service system for variety and enhancement of logistic needs. Some of the quality attributes sufficiently satisfy expectation of customers, but not guarantee high-quality satisfaction. Therefore, it's difficult to grasp quality attributes with the existing approach of perceived service quality. Quality attribute model suggested by Kano is widely used as the concept is accurate, there is high possibility to be used at the stage of product/service planning, and it can be easily applied. Kano model has a limitation that quality attributes are classified with mode and the differences between strong property of the quality attribute and week property in quality attributes were ignored. Therefore, Timko calculated customer satisfaction coefficient with the result of Kano's survey and effects of customer satisfaction and unsatisfaction through relations between satisfaction coefficient and unsatisfaction coefficient. The purposes of this study are to use ASC, the average of satisfaction coefficient and unsatisfaction, as the satisfaction of quality characteristics, decide the importance of quality characteristics with TOPSIS, a representative multi-standard decision-making method, and calculate strategy improvement propriety of logistic service quality.
The present study is aimed at assessing medical service quality as perceived by in-patients of geriatric hospitals and at analyzing the excitement factors by using revised IPA Applying the Kano's model for users' satisfaction. The data was collected from Nov. 5 to Dec. 7, 2012. Among a total of 503 cases of questionaries, only 419 cases were used. To data were analyzed by PASW statistics 18.0 and revised IPA applying Kano's model. The paired t-test results reveal that satisfaction was higher than the expectation level at a statistically significant level across all the medical service quality factors. The revised IPA results categorized facility convenience, hospitalization and care, and kindness as basic factors and medical reliability and access as excitement factors. In conclusion, medical reliability and access, which were identified as excitement factors of medical service quality, are essential opportunity factors for users and should accordingly be used as strategic factors to increase satisfaction with a geriatric hospital and induce customer surprise.
Purpose: This study was conducted to analyze the potential customer's satisfaction for the concepts of smart audio features and utilize the results when developing the customer-oriented products. Methods: 16 different features were derived via the market research and professionals' interviews. The most satisfactory features were selected through "Kano model", the relative importance of Customer Satisfaction Coefficient, and respondents' preferences from 339 valid survey answers. Results: 15 out of the 16 features were categorized as attractive attribute. "'User Recognizing' and 'Strengthen Linking' groups", such as Auto connection with Smart-phone music player, Synchronization of TV & Audio, and Volume control situational awareness, were shown to provide higher satisfactions to those potential customers. On the other hand, Group 'Integrating Function', such as Aromatherapy and Auto lighting reaction, was shown to be relatively least preferred features. Conclusion: This study enabled which features could lead to the customer satisfaction. Nevertheless, it still requires extensive analyses in different countries and diverse cultures to target the global market. The audio product planners and R&D professionals are expected to learn useful information from such studies.
The purpose of this study is to classify the attributes of culinary educational quality by using the Kano model. This study carried out literary research and empirical analysis. Data were collected among 486 students whose major is culinary arts and analyzed with SPSS 19.0 and EXCEL 2007. It classified culinary educational quality by employing the Kano model and modified the Better and Worse quotients suggested by Timko. The results of the study are as follows. First, it was found that total 25 attributes could be classified into 17 Attractive quality attributes, 2 Must-be quality attributes and 6 Indifferent quality attributes, while One-dimensional quality, Reverse quality and Questionable quality attributes were not found. Second, according to the Better and Worse quotient by Timko, "Objective instructor's evaluation" item was the highest score in the Better quotient. On the other hand, the "Having foreign professors" item is the lowest in the Worse quotient. Third, marketing implications and limitations were discussed.
The two-way quality theory has been widely used as a method for classifying quality attributes for several decades. In particular, the Kano model that classifies attributes into not just conventional one-dimensional but must-be and attractive has gained popularity due to its applicability and ease of use. However, the wordings of the five alternatives in the Kano's questionnaire has been criticised for unclear meanings. This study proposes a new two-way model to classify attributes using 5-point Likert scale alternatives. For this, the current paper investigated a case of TV sets to examine how the proposed model works in comparison with the Kano model. The application results of the proposed model are different from the original one. The two-way model classifies quality attributes in more detail such as the "one-dimensional with an attractive tendency" attribute, which has a greater influence on satisfaction than dissatisfaction, the opposite "one-dimensional with a must-be tendency" attribute, and "highly one-dimensional" and "less one-dimensional" attributes. In this study, a potential satisfaction coefficient (PSC), a potential dissatisfaction coefficient (PDC), and an average potential coefficient (APC) to manage quality attributes are proposed and discussed for their utilization.

This study is aimed at analyzing the characteristics of each service quality and the requirements of the customers followed by the classification of service quality factors of youth sports clubs by using Kano model. For this purpose, a survey was conducted by targeting on 257 subjects in 10 youth sports clubs in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas and for data processing, Microsoft Office Excel 2016 and SPSS 22.0 were used to carry out Frequency Analysis, Factor Analysis, Reliability Analysis, Kano model Quality Classification, Timko's Customer Satisfaction Coefficient, and the computation and analysis of Public-service Customer Satisfaction Index. The following shows the research findings. First, as a result of using Kano model to classify each item of the service quality factors of the youth sports club through Dualistic Quality Theory Attribution, one-dimensional quality elements resulted in all 22 items of service quality factors of youth sports club. Second, the customer satisfaction coefficient computation result showed that satisfaction coefficient appeared by the order of 'kind response of the instructor,'(0.81), 'attitude of the instructor'(0.80), 'systematic lecture program'(0.76), and 'variety of program)'(0.76) and dissatisfaction coefficient appeared by the order of 'clean and pleasant facility'(-0.79), 'attitude of the instructor'(-0.76), 'kind response of the instructor'(-0.76), 'convenience of parking facility'(-0.73), and 'promptness of business process'(-0.73). Third, the public-service customer satisfaction index placing appeared by the order of the 'attitude of the instructor', 'kind response of the instructor', 'clean and pleasant facility' and 'systematic lecture program'.
