An Experimental Study on the Galloping of Inclined Cables

  • A series of wind tunnel tests was conducted to investigate the existence of the galloping instability of inclined dry cables and also to Identify the influence of some parameters on it. These parameters are the structural damping and cable surface roughness, which may have significant impact on the vibration characteristics. The test results showed both the divergent type of galloping instability and the limited amplitude high wind speed vortex shedding excitation. Galloping instability was observed in only one case. Parametric study shows that the vortex shedding oscillation can be easily suppressed with an increase of structural damping. It was also shown that the instability criterion indicated by earlier research was too conservative compared to the results obtained from the present study.

Urban Growth of Chuncheon City Observed by Landsat Satellite Images

  • In this study, 8 Landsat(TM/ETM+) satellite images acquired from 1984 to 2002 were used to investigate the growth of Chuncheon city, Kangwon-do, Korea. The images were geocoded and classified using training set collected from field survey. Four land-use types were classified such as urban area, green zone, agricultural land and water body. It also showed rapid increase of urban area in the past two decades from 1166ha in 1984 to 3358ha in 2002. About 2182ha of agricultural land and green zone have been changed to urban area. Agricultural land was newly formed from the green zone.

다중시기 11월 Landsat 영상을 이용한 강원도 일대 임상의 변화관찰 및 상록수 영급의 구분 (Observation of Forest Change and Estimation of Tree Ages of the Conifer over Kangwon-do by using Multi-Temporal, November-Landsat Images)

  • 이 연구에서는 다중시기 Landsat 영상을 이용하여 강원도 일대 임상의 변화를 살펴보고 상록수의 영급을 구분하는 알고리즘을 개발하여 적용하였다. 1980년대에서 현재까지 축적된 Landsat-5와 Landsat-7영상 중에서, 대부분 지역에 활잡목 및 활엽수가 낙엽이 지고 눈이 아직 쌓이지 않을 시기인 11월에 촬영된 영상만을 이용하였다. 각 영상에서 양지바른 상록수, 활엽수, 그늘진 지역, 도시 및 바다 등을 클래스로 지정하여 감돌분류를 하였다. 분류 결과에서 양지바른 상록수만 추출하여 5개의 영상을 이진 분류체계로 조합한 후 임상의 시기적 변화 양상을 관찰한 결과, 강원대 연습림의 조림 기록 및 현황도와 상당히 일치함을 확인하였으며, Path 115, Row 34에 해당하는 강원도 일대로 연구지역을 확대하였다. 향후 Kompsat-2를 비롯한 고해상도 11월 영상이 지속적으로 촬영된다면, 이 연구에서 개발된 이진 분류체계 방법을 통하여 산림변화의 모니터링을 보다 용이하고 효율적으로 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Preparation of Ultrafine $SnO_2$ Powders by Spray-ICP Technique

  • The Spray-ICP technique uses the ICP(Inductively Coupled Plasma) of ultra-high temperature which is produced by r.f power. The ICP is well-kwown as a clean heat source for the preparation of pure ceramic particles because the ICP is a electrodeless-thermal plasma without contamination. In this study,{{{{ { SnO}_{2 } }}}} particles were sythesized from metal salt solution by Spray-ICP technique. The effects of concentration of solution, collecting location of powders were investicated. The prepared {{{{ { SnO}_{2 } }}}} particles from each concentration of solution had same crystalline phase(tetragonal {{{{ { SnO}_{2 } }}}}) a nd the mean size decreased in proportion to the increase of solution concentration. Each {{{{ { SnO}_{2 } }}}} p owders collector in reactor and electrostatic collector had same crystalline phase and morphologies. The mean size of {{{{ { SnO}_{2 } }}}} p articles prepared by Spray-ICP technique was below 30nm.

  • The basidomycetes fungus, Agaricus blazei Murill has been well known as the biologically active polysaccharides. They do not attack cancer cells directly, but produce their antitumor effects by activating various immune responses in the host. This present study was designed to investigate the immune activity of polysaccharides extracted from fruiting body, culture broth, and mycelia. In order to examine the optimum conditions of polysaccharide production, medium and C/N ratio were examined in flask culture. The fine polysaccharides were isolated and purified by DEAE cellulose and Sephadex CL-6B, respectively. Each fraction was spplied to recognize NO synthesis and TNF-${\alpha}$ for immune activity test.

  • $^1H$ and $^{13}C$ NMR spectra of series of (E)-1-aryl-(2- and 3-thienyl)-2-propenones, that are aldol condensation products between 2- and 3-thiophenecarbaldehydes and m- and p-substituted acetophenones, were examined to make complete assignments of the chemical shifts. Long range couplings, $^4J$ and $^5J$, are observed in the $^1H-^1H$ COSY of both 2- and 3-thienyl compounds, which makes the elucidation of the conformation in solution possible. In contrast, the 2-furyl analogue shows the long range coupling phenomena, but the 3-furyl and phenyl analogues do not show similar phenomena.

Thermal fixing of multiple holographic gratings in magnesium oxide lithium niobate crystal

  • The photorefractive properties of 4% mol magnesium oxide doped lithium niobate have been investigated at room temperature. The recording and erasing time constants were measured as a function of intensity and analyzed by using the two active species (electron-hole) model. The results were used to compute the exposure schedule for multiple hologram recording. We have recorded grating of five holograms by angular multiplexing at room temperature and fixed them by means of a thermal cycling procedure. The highest diffraction efficiency of a fixed grating is up to 50% of an unfixed one.

  • 본 논문에서는 PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor)의 구동 효율을 향상시키기 위한 최대 효율 제어 기법에 대해 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 전동기의 입력 전력이 최소가 되도록 Gradient Decent 알고리즘을 기반으로 하는 최적화 기법인 Adaptive 알고리즘을 통해 전류각을 조정한다. 제안된 기법을 통해 동손을 최소로 제어하는 기존 MTPA(Maximum Torque Per Ampere) 제어 방식 보다 구동 효율을 향상시킬 수 있으며 전동기의 제정수 오차에 강인하다. 1.7kW IPMSM의 모의실험을 통해 제안된 기법의 효용성을 검증하였다.

HID-lamp용 Full-Bridge 전자식 안정기의 손실 특성 규명 (Examination of Loss Characteristics of Full-Bridge Electronic Ballast for HID Lamps)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the calculated method of loss characteristics of full-bridge eletronic ballast for 250Watt HID lamps by approximated modeling. These lamps have the most emit effiency and color rendering. Especially, the majority of losses appear to the MOSFET do full-bridge, L of output terminal and driver IC, besides losses occur to the R in the ballast. These losses cause heating and breakage of MOSFET. When HID-lamp arrivals the steady-state, loss of ballast is measured 9% and analyzed value is 8% approximately. Accordingly it is not too much to say that greater part of losses is examined.
