From the environmental aspects, primary productivity of phytoplankton plays the most improtant role in enhancement of marine culture oyster production. This study may be divided into two branches; one is estimation of maximum oyster meat production per unit facility(Carrying Capacity) under the present enviromental conditions in Kamak Bay, the other is improvement of carrying from increase of primary productivity by changing the environmental conditions that cause not ot form an unfavorable environment such as the formation of oxygen deficient water mass using the eco-hydrodynamic model. By simulation of three-dimensional hydrdynamic model and ecosystem model, the comparison between observed and computed data showed good agreement. The results of sensitivity analysis showed that phytoplankton maximum growth rate was the most important parameter for phytoplankton and dissolved oxygen. The estimation of mean primary productivity of Wonpo, Kamak, Pyongsa, and Kunnae culture grounds in Kamak Bay during culturing period were 3.73gC/$m^2$/d, 2.12gC/$m^2$/d, 1.98gC/$m^2$/d, and 1.26gC/$m^2$/d, respectively. Under condition not ot form the oxygen deficient water mass, four times increasing of pollutants loading as much as the present loading from river increased mean primary productivity of whole culture grounds to 4.02gC/$m^2$/d. Sediment N, P fluxes that allowed for 35% increasing from the present conditions increased mean primary productivity of whole culture grounds to 3.65gC/$m^2$/d. Finally, ten times increasing of boundary loadings from the present conditions increased mean primary productivity of whole culture grounds to 3.95gC/$m^2$/d. The maximum oyster meat production per year and that of unit facility in actual oyster culture grounds under the present conditions were 6,929ton and 0.93ton, respectively. This 0.93ton/unit facility is considered to be the carrying capacity in study area, and if the primary productivity is increased by changing the environmental conditions, oyster production can be increased.
Character of oceanic conditions in the bay is investigated by taking hydrographic data on june in Kamak Bay which has two channels and four submarine topographic parts of its own. This bay has four remarkable water mass influenced greatly by the above topographical factor: inner bay water, Yosu harbor water, the middle water and outer bay water. General characteristics of these four water mass were as fellows: inner bay water has a stagnation character with the influence of inland, Yosu harbor water has a out-sea character with the low salinity caused by run-off of Somjin river, outer bay water has a out-sea character with same values vertically coused by eddy current or bottom turbulunce and the middle water has a middle character among the inner bay water and outer bay water. Outer waters flowed in the bay through both channels during the flood are come upon at a near by Daekyong-do and Hangdae-ri of Dolsan-do. Eddy current or bottom turbulunce in the vincinity of Kunnae-ri which is located at south of the bay are showed sinking of water during the flood flow, while that during the ebb flow shelved up-welling phenomena.
To develop new products for aquaculture, which fishermen at South Sea can get high income, after bay scallop was transplanted from Sandong province in China from October 17, 1996 to March 18, 1997 at Duekrang Bay in Janghung gun and Kamak Bay in Y대녀 City on Chollanam province, Sumjin river estuary in Hadong gun and Gejae Bay in Keoje city on Kyongsangnam proince. Temperature was decreased from 20.5$^{\circ}C$ to 5.1$^{\circ}C$ in February and then it was increased to 12.0 in March. Ranges of salinity, DO and Chlorophyll-a were 22.40-34.70 psu, 5.24-9.77 mg/l and 1.27-22.28 $\mu\textrm{g}$/l, respectively, and low temperature, sudden changes of salinity and low concentration of chlorophyll-a influenced the growth of bay scallop. bay scallop in the rearing period showed the fastest growth from October 17 to November 18 through the every size rages, while it grew slowly or stopped growing from December 18 to March 18. Among 4 transplanted areas, young scallop at Duekrang Bay showed the fastest growth and then Kamak Bay, Gejae Bay, Sumjin estuary in order. The daily growth rate of young scallop in the middle size range (5.70%) was higher than those in large (2.07%) and small (5.49%) size range. The meat weight index showed the highest in December. Survival rates from October to December were high, not related to the size ranges, but survival rate of the small young scallop from January to March was higher than Those of the rest. As the Result, transplanted bay scallop at South Sea was shown to grow by the middle of December (around 1$0^{\circ}C$ temperature).
The distributions of the temperature and salinity in Kamak bay which has two channels and three sea bottom topographic parts were studied by taking the detailed hydrographic data at the ebb and flood during four seasons from May, 1988 to Feb., 1989. The general pattern of the distributions of characteristics which the temperature and salinity has in Kamak bay is basically formed by the topography and sea water movement of the bay. The changes of these distributions by seasons mainly come from the heating and cooling of the sea surface and the increase of the run-off. The bay has three remarkable water masses and the their general characteristics are follows: the inner bay water has a stagnation character influenced by the inland and the concave of the sea bottom in the north west, Yosu harbor water has an estuary character of the low salinity caused by the run-off of Somjin river and Yon Tung brooklet in the north east, and the outer bay water has an out-sea character, as it is located near by the big mouth in the south of the bay. The distributions of those water masses at the ebb and flood show some different features due to the flow patterns, and the daily changes of oceanic conditions at the vicinity of Hangdae-ri are so big that it may influence the habitation and production of the living things in the bay.
In order to determined the appropriate processing season of Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas), 30 individuals cultured in Kamak Bay on the southern coast of Korea were taken bimonthly 7 times a year, and seasonal variation of edible portion weight, edible portion yield and coefficient of fatness were investigated. There were close relationships between edible portion weight (X) and total weight (Y) and between coefficient of fatness (X) and edible portion yield (Y), which were expressed in regression lines, i.e. Y=0.2709X-1.9094 (r=0.9254) and Y=44.0596X+ 15.1127 (r=0.8485), respectively. From the results of seasonal variation of edible portion weight, yield and coefficient of fatness, the appropriate processing season of raw Pacific oyster was between winter and spring, that is, between December and following April the next year.
The pathogenic organisms occurred in cultured marine fishes in Kamak Bay were investigated from March to November in 1993. The samples were collected at 7 sampling stations once a month. Nine species of pathogenic organisms (Vibrio sp., Edwardsiella sp., Flexibacter sp., Streptococcus sp., Micrococcus sp., Caligus sp., Trichodina sp., Lymphocystis and Staphylococcus sp.) were identified as pathogenic organisms from four different species of fish (Sebastes schlegeli, Paralichthys olivaceus, lateolabrax japonicus and Pagrus major) collected in the study areas. Most of pathogenic organisms were found at over 20^{\circ}C$ of sea water temperature from June to October in 1993. On the test of drug sensitivity, Vibrio sp. (KS-9303) was sensitive to oxytetracycline and chloramphenicol ; Edwardsiella sp. (KP-9315) to oxytetracycline ; Flexibacter sp. (KP-9318) to oxytetracycline, chloramphenicol and oxolinic acid ; Streptococcus sp. (KP-9319) to erythromycin, chlorampheicol and oxytetracycline. However, all these 4 isolated bacteria were resistant to ampicilin, steptomycin, sulfamethoxazole and nitrofurazone.
The three-dimensional eco-hydrodynamic model was applied to estimate the physical process in terms of COD (chemical oxygen demand) and net supply(or decomposition) rate of COD in Kamak Bay to find proper management plan for oxygen demanding organic matters. The estimation results of the physical process in terms of COD showed that transportation of COD is dominant in surface level while accumulation of COD is dominant in bottom level. In the case of surface level, the net supply rate of COD was 0 -0.50 mg/m2/day. The net decomposition rate of COD was 0 -0.04 mg/m2/day in middle level(3 -6m) and 0.05 -0.1 5 mg/m2/day in bottom level(6m -bottom). These results indicates that the biological decomposition and physical accumulation of COD are occurred predominantly at the northern part of bottom level. Therefore, it is important to consider both allochthonous and autochthonous oxygen demanding organic matters in the region.

In order to investigate the properties in distribution and movement of anchovy school catches by the lift net in the Kamak bay and their relation to the environmental factors, I. e., the amount of chlorophyll-a and turbidity were observed from June to August in 1997 and compared with the catch of anchovy by the lift net. The results obtained are summarized as follows;1) The amount of chlorophyll-a ranged from 4.0 to 12.0 mg/$m^3$ on July and from 3.0 to 15.0 mg/$m^3$ on August in horizontal distribution, the amount of chlorophyll-a ranged from 3.0 to 8.0mg/$m^3$ on June, from 5.5 to 11.6 mg/㎥ on July, and from 6.0 to 11.1 mg/$m^3$ on July and from 1.0 to 6.0ppm on August, respectively. 2) Anchovy school can be presurmed, they are come from north of bay, visited and distributed through east of bay at the middle of June. Moreover, they spreaded in all bay. Then gradually, when July arrive, they go to the south the nearest the coasts, and they are outflow through the south entrance of bay at the end of August.3) The catch of anchovy was highest on July, poor second on August, and lowest on June. The chlorophyll-a and the turbidity influenced remarkably on the distribution and movement of anchovy school and the influence of chlorophyll-a was alrgest.
This study was carried out to investigate the distribution of the benthic polychaetous community in Kamak Bay, in summer of 1993. Polychaetes, the dominant faunal group comprising 74.5% of the total number of fauna, consisted of a total of 84 species with a mean density of 112 indiv.m/SUP -2/. The number of species and density were higher in the mouth area of the bay than in the rest of the bay. The most dominant Polychaete was Tharyx sp.(31.9%), followed by Lumbrineris longifolia (27.5%), Chone sp.(4.5%) and Glycera chirori (4.2%). The correspondence analysis revealed that the study area could be divided into four regions. Northeastern channel and southern mouth region of the bay, named Tharyx-Chone assemblage, sustained higher polychaetous density and species number due to the active water exchange with the outer off-sea, whereas northwestern region of the bay had the poorest polychaetous assemblage in the species number and faunal density owing to the blocking water exchange, high organic enrichment in sediment, and low dissolved oxygen content of bottom water. The central region, named Praxillella-Terebellides assemblage and Gly-cera assemblage, was the transition zone between another two region in species composition.

The three-dimensional eco-hydrodynamic model was applied to estimate the effect of water quality improvement by the effluent treatment of landbase-seawater culture system in the Kamak bay The computed residual currents were dominated southward flow at the northern narrow strait and eastward flow and clockwise water circulation at the mouth of the bay, strongly. The mean relative errors of DIP, DIN and COD between the simulated and observed results at 9 stations in the Kamak bay were shown 14.3%, 25.8% and 14.4%, respectively. There were high concentrations of DIP, DIN and COD at the northwestern bay which is influenced by pollution loads. The simulations were performed using an ecosystem model under the conditions of DIP 90%, DIN 80% and COD 60% treatment efficiency by the ozone treatment system of landbase-seawater culture system. As a results of simulation, the improvement effects of DIP, DIN and COD are 34.4~54.0% (average 46.4%), 0.4~25.4%(average 8.4%) and 15.6~29.4%(average 22.7%), respectively. Therefore the area of seawater quality grade I based on COD was extended in the bay.
