우주날씨 관측을 위한 큐브위성 도요샛 임무 (SNIPE Mission for Space Weather Research)

  • 도요샛(Small Scale magNetospheric and Ionospheric Plasma Experiment, SNIPE)의 과학임무는 전리권 상층부 소규모 플라즈마 구조의 공간적 시간적 변화를 관찰하는 것이다. 이를 위해 4개의 6U 큐브위성(10 kg)이 고도 약 500 km 극궤도로 발사될 예정이며, 상호 위성 간 거리는 편대 비행 알고리즘에 의해 수 10 km에서 수 1,000 km 이상으로 제어된다. 운영 초기에는 4기의 위성이 같은 궤도 평면에 위치하는 종대비행을 하다가 경도상에서 나란히 배치되는 횡대비행으로 전환하여 4기의 서로 다른 지점에서 공간적인 변화를 관측하게 된다. 도요샛에는 입자 검출기, 랑뮈어 탐침, 자력계로 구성된 우주날씨 관측 장비가 각 위성에 탑재된다. 모든 관측기는 10 Hz 이상의 높은 시간 분해능을 가지며 큐브위성에 최적화 설계되었다. 이 외에도 이리디듐 통신 모듈은 지자기 폭풍이 발생할 때 작동 모드를 변경하기 위한 명령을 업로드할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다. 도요샛은 극 지역 플라즈마 밀도 급상승, 필드 정렬 전류, 고에너지 전자의 국소 영역 침투, 적도 및 중위도 플라즈마 거품의 발생 및 시공간적 진화에 대한 관찰을 수행할 예정이며, 이를 통해 태양풍이 우주날씨에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 탐구하게 된다. 도요샛은 2023년 상반기 러시아 소유즈-2에 의해 카자흐스탄 바이코누르에서 발사될 예정이다.

천해역 취득 데이터를 이용한 수중음향통신 수신기 성능분석 (Performance Analysis of Receiver for Underwater Acoustic Communications Using Acquisition Data in Shallow Water)

  • 본 논문에서는 25 kHz의 반송파와 5 kHz의 심볼율을 갖는 QPSK (Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) 통신시스템에서 수신된 신호를 100 kHz로 샘플링하여 전송데이터를 복원하는 수중통신용 수신기의 구조에 대하여 논한다. 또한, 천해역에서 제작한 센서를 이용하여 취득한 데이터를 2:1의 비율로 간축한 후 설계한 수신기의 입력으로 하여, 결합채널등화기 출력신호의 BER (Bit Error Rate) 을 최소화하는 결합채널등화기의 FF (Feed-Forward) 및 FB (Feed-Back) 필터 탭 수 및 RLS (Recursive Least-Square) 알고리듬의 망각인자 등의 설계 파라미터를 도출하였다. 취득 신호의 전송거리는 각각 1.4 km, 2.9 km, 4.7 km이다. 분석결과 BER을 최소화하기 위한 결합채널등화기의 FF 와 FB 탭 수는 전송거리에 따라 상이하나 망각인자는 0.997에서 최적 또는 최적에 가까운 성능을 보이는 것을 확인하였다. 그러므로, 수중음향통신 수신기 설계시 망각인자, ${\lambda}$,는 0.997로 고정하고, 전송거리에 따라 최적의 성능을 갖는 결합채널등화기의 FF 필터 탭 수와 FB 필터 탭수를 가변적으로 변경할 수 있는 구조를 갖는 수신기를 설계하는 것이 바람직하다는 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 또한, 수신기 성능 분석을 통하여 본 논문에서 고려하는 시스템에서는 16탭 길이를 갖는 간단한 형태의 필터를 161탭 길이를 갖는 정합필터 대신에 수신기의 저역통과필터로 사용하더라도 성능의 열화가 적음을 확인하였다.

하지 외골격 로봇을 위한 인솔 센서시스템 및 보행 판단 알고리즘 개발 (Development of Insole Sensor System and Gait Phase Detection Algorithm for Lower Extremity Exoskeleton)

  • This paper is about the development of an insole sensor system that can determine the model of an exoskeleton robot for lower limb that is a multi-degree of freedom system. First, the study analyzed the kinematic model of an exoskeleton robot for the lower limb that changes according to the gait phase detection of a human. Based on the ground reaction force (GRF), which is generated when walking, to proceed with insole sensor development, the sensing type, location, and the number of sensors were selected. The center of pressure (COP) of the human foot was understood first, prior to the development of algorithm. Using the COP, an algorithm was developed that is capable of detecting the gait phase with small number of sensors. An experiment at 3 km/h speed was conducted on the developed sensor system to evaluate the developed insole sensor system and the gait phase detection algorithm.

DFT 기반의 개선된 페이저 연산 기법을 적용한 거리계전 알고리즘 (Distance Relaying Algorithm Using a DFT-based Modified Phasor Estimation Method)

  • In this paper, we propose a distance relaying algorithm using a Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT)-based modified phasor estimation method to eliminate the adverse influence of exponentially decaying DC offsets. Most distance relays are based on estimating phasors of the voltage and current signals. A DFT is generally used to calculate the phasor of the fundamental frequency component in digital protective relays. However, the output of the DFT contains an error due to exponentially decaying DC offsets. For this reason, distance relays have a tendency to over-reach or under-reach in the presence of DC offset components in a fault current. Therefore, the decaying DC components should be taken into consideration when calculating the phasor of the fundamental frequency component of a relaying signal. The error due to DC offsets in a DFT is calculated and eliminated using the outputs of an even-sample-set DFT and an odd-sample-set DFT, so that the phasor of the fundamental component can be accurately estimated. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated for a-phase to ground faults on a 345 kV, 50 km, simple overhead transmission line. The Electromagnetic Transient Program (EMTP) is used to generate fault signals. The evaluation results indicate that adopting the proposed algorithm in distance relays can effectively suppress the adverse influence of DC offsets.

딥러닝 기반의 특징점 추출 알고리즘을 활용한 고해상도 해저지형 생성기법 연구 (Research on High-resolution Seafloor Topography Generation using Feature Extraction Algorithm Based on Deep Learning)

  • In this paper, we propose a technique to model high resolution seafloor topography with 1m intervals using actual water depth data near the east coast of the Korea with 1.6km distance intervals. Using a feature point extraction algorithm that harris corner based on deep learning, the location of the center of seafloor mountain was calculated and the surrounding topology was modeled. The modeled high-resolution seafloor topography based on deep learning was verified within 1.1m mean error between the actual warder dept data. And average error that result of calculating based on deep learning was reduced by 54.4% compared to the case that deep learning was not applied. The proposed algorithm is expected to generate high resolution underwater topology for the entire Korean peninsula and be used to establish a path plan for autonomous navigation of underwater vehicle.

  • 비접촉 거리측정 장치인 레이저스캐너를 이용하여 무인차량의 평행주차 및 직각주차 알고리즘 개발을 목적으로 하였다. 이 알고리즘을 검증하기 위하여 GPS와 차량에 6대의 레이저스캐너를 장착하여 이용하였고, 레이저스캐너를 이용한 위치 계산의 오차를 줄이기 위해 타이어 미끄러짐을 최소로 할 수 있도록 5km/h로 차량의 이동 속도를 제한하였다.

Optimization of a composite beam for high-speed railroads

  • The paper describes an optimization method based on the mathematical model of interaction within multibody 'bridge-track-cars" dynamic system. The interaction is connected with considerable dynamic phenomena influenced by high traffic speed (up to 400 km/h) on high-speed railroads. The trend analysis of a structure is necessary to determine the direction and resource of optimizing the system. Thus, scientific methods of decision-making process are necessary. The process requires a great amount of information analysis dealing with behavior and changes of the "bridge-track-cars system" that consists of mechanisms and structures, including transitions. The paper shows the algorithm of multi-criteria optimization that can essentially reduce weight of a bridge superstructure using big data analysis. This reduction is carried out in accordance with the constraints that have to be satisfied in any case. Optimization of real steel-concrete beam is exemplified. It demonstrates possibility of measures that are offered by the algorithm.

  • Analyses of Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) microwave radiometer (TMI) and precipitation radar (PR) data show that the rainfall inhomogeneity, represented by the coefficient of variation, decreases as rain rate increases at the low resolution (the footprint size of TMI 10 GHz channel). The rainfall inhomogeneity, however, is relatively constant for all rain rates at the high resolution (the footprint size of TMI 37 GHz channel). Consequently, radiometric signatures at lower spatial resolutions are characterized by larger dynamic range and smaller variability than those at higher spatial resolution. Based on the observed characteristics, this study develops a low-resolution (${\sim}40{\times}40$ km) rainfall retrieval algorithm utilizing realistic rainfall distributions in the a-priori databases. The purpose of the low-resolution rainfall algorithm is to make more reliable climatological rainfalls from various microwave sensors, including low-resolution radiometers.

Predictive Control Algorithms for Adaptive Optical Wavefront Correction in Free-space Optical Communication

  • To handle the servo delay in a real-time adaptive optics system, a linear subspace system identification algorithm was employed to model the system, and the accuracy of the system identification was verified by numerical calculation. Experimental verification was conducted in a real test bed system. Through analysis and comparison of the experimental results, the convergence can be achieved only 200 times with prediction and 300 times without prediction. After the wavefront peak-to-valley value converges, its mean values are 0.27, 4.27, and 10.14 ㎛ when the communication distances are 1.2, 4.5, and 10.2 km, respectively. The prediction algorithm can effectively improve the convergence speed of the peak-to-valley value and improve the free-space optical communication performance.
