  • The volatile organic compounds exposure is governed by the source distance and dispersion of the pollutant into air and groundwater. The purpose of this study was to validate suggested models for the prediction of concentration distributions. The study design was organized into different methods to simulate industry site. The distribution models generally showed a fair agreement with measured data. For graphical representation of concentration of volatile hydrocarbon, it has to obtain a continuous representation of the contamination of the site. Therefore, the used interpolative methods examined for this project are the IDW(inverse Distance Weighting) and kriging method. In the results, in summary, all two different methods can be used to quantify exposures at a particular source area, and thus provide, a solid foundation for making risk-based decisions. All the calculations can be performed using Excel's built-in functions, and the capabilities of geospatial analysis allow the results to be displayed visually. However, anyone who uses these methods should understand all of the assumptions and limitation.

  • This paper attempts to approximate the distribution function for the number of innovation activities (NIA). To this end, the dataset of 2002 Korean Innovation Survey (KIS 2002) published by Science and Technology Policy Institute is used. To deal with zero NTI values given by a considerable number of firms in the KIS 2002 survey, a mixture model of distributions for NIA is applied. The NIA is specified as a mixture of two distributions, one with a point mass at zero and the other with full support on the positive half of the real line. The model was empirically verified for the KIS 2002 data. The mixture model can easily capture the common bimodality feature of the NIA distribution. In addition, when covariates were added to the mixture model, it was found that the probability that a firm has zero NIA significantly varies with some variables.

  • $\alpha$$_1$-arantitrypsin, a member of the serpin (serine protease inhibitor) family, undergoes a large structural rearrangement upon the cleavage and insertion of the reactive site loop. This conformational change is driven by the metastability of the native serpin structures and has an important role in the regulation of the inhibitory-serpin function. (omitted)

  • High-resolution solution conformation of a novel conotoxin, [Pro 7,13] $\alpha$A-conotoxin $P_{IVA}$, GCCGSYPNAACHPCSCKDROSYCGQ-N $H_2$, has been determined by two-dimensional $^1$H nmr methods in combination with distance geometry calculation to rmsd values of 0.90 $\AA$ and 1.16 $\AA$ for the backbone and heavy atoms, respectively. Total of 324 NOE-derived interproton distance restraints including 33 long-range NOE restraints a well as 11 $\Phi$ and 7 $\chi$$^1$ torsion angle restraints were used for computation of structures. • Platelet production in blood is regulated by a lineage specific humoral factor called thrombopoietin (TPO). The amino terminal domain of TPO (TPO-N) has a sequence homology to erythropoietin (EPO) and is responsible for the signal transduction mediated by the TPO receptor, c-mpl.(omitted)

  • The report on large tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) at room temperature in magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJ), composed of two ferromagnetic electrodes separated by a thin insulating barrier, has ignite the intensive research both from scientific and technological points of view. A simple model proposed by Juliere has explained the observed TMR surprisingly well, where the TMR is expressed in terms of the spin polarization P of the ferromagnetic electrodes. (omitted)

  • Due to the limited pendulum motion range, the conventional one-pendulum driven spherical robot has limited driving capability. Especially it can not drive parallel direction with center horizontal axis to which pendulum is attached from stationary state. To overcome the limited driving capability of one-pendulum driven spherical robot, we introduce a spherical robot, called KisBot II, with a new type of curved two-pendulum driving mechanism. A cross-shape frame of the robot is located horizontally in the center of the robot. The main axis of the frame is connected to the outer shell, and each curved pendulum is connected to the end of the other axis of the frame respectively. The main axis and pendulums can rotate 360 degrees inside the sphere orthogonally without interfering with each other, also the two pendulums can rotate identically or independent of each other. Due to this driving mechanism, KisBot II has various motion generation abilities, including a fast steering, turning capability in place and during travelling, and four directions including forward, backward, left, and right from stationary status. Experiments for several motions verify the driving efficiency of the proposed spherical robot.

  • According to the "FDI-as-market-discipline" hypothesis, inward FDI acts as a mechanism of change in market structure affecting innovative activities of domestic firms. We used panel KIS data for testing this hypothesis. Binary probit estimation shows that, in contrast to the German case of Bertschek (1995), FDI is insignificant in Korean case for explaining product innovation. 1his result maybe comes from the fact that the industries in Korea are more monopolistic or oligopolistic than those of Germany. Using panel data, we tried random parameter estimation using matrix weighted average of GLS and OLS. The result shows different estimates from cross-section outcome and panel estimation with parameter homogeneity, so we can infer large parameter heterogeneity across firms. But, interpretation for FDI variable is similar across panel and cross-section estimation.

  • D-OCSP-KIS proposed by Koga and Sakurai not only reduces the number or OCSP Responder's certificate but also criers the certificate status validation about OCSP Responder to the client. Therefore, D-OCSP-KIS is an effective method that can reduce the communication cost, computational time and storage consumption in client, but it has some problems. In case an attacker accidentally acquires an OCSP Responder's session private key in a time period (e.g., one day), she can disguise as the OCSP Responder in the time period unless the OCSP Responder recognizes. She can offer the wrong response to the client using the hash value intercepted. And the server and user on I-commerce can have a serious confusion and damage. And the computation and releasing of hash chain can be a load to CA. Thus, we propose a method detecting immediately the exposure of an OCSP Responder's session private key and the abuse of hash value in D-OCSP-KIS.
