  • The purpose of this study is to overview and analyze the commercial document delivery systems. to this end, the study first compared the current systems under three headings, that is, non-collection-based systems(Infotrieve, OCLC, UnCover, BIDS, Swets & Zeitlinger, Kyobobook), collection-based systems(EBSCO, ISI, UMI, BLDSC, CISTI, INIST, NCSI, JICST, KINITI), and specialized collection-based systems(Engineering Information Inc., IEEE/IEE, BIOSIS, CAS, NAL, RSC, TWI, ADONIS). Next, the study analyzeed the advantages and disadvantages of each system, based on the four performance criteria : scope of inventory/journal coverage, turnaround time, delivery ost and payment options, reliability and satisfaction rate.

  • The inhouse database can be used as an effective tool for managing inhouse/corporaterelated informations, which efficiently support business activities as they are shared by all the inhouse members. The inhouse database construction processes can be classified into a concept design, various kinds of DB format designs, abstracting/indexing, and DB operation/maintenance. This article presents a method of systematizing the concept design elements such as information flow support system, usable resources, and so on.

  • Reviews literature related to several aspects of interlending and document supply. Examines the impact of World Wide Web delivery and the ever-increasing number of periodicals being published electronically. Interlinked with these two factors is the creation of digital libraries. Discusses some of the projects undertaken by higher education institutions to deliver electronic material to researchers and students. Includes articles on various resource sharing activities highlighting the usual access versus owernership issues.

  • Introduces and analyzes basic library collection management issues regarding electronic journals, including selection, budgeting, policy making, collection evaluation, and preservation/archiving. Argues that staffing and budgeting for electronic journals can be organized on subject-based or format-based approaches, or some combination of both. Electronic journals are selected through the same three-stage process used for print journals : identification, evaluation, and selection. Most of the traditional criteria for print journals are also applicable to electronic journals, but additional criteria are superimposed on them. The cancellation and weeding of electronic journals have not been addressed ;by ;the profession, but will assume more significance in the future. There is a need for new client-centered evaluation methodologies that focus on availability and accessibility rather than ownership.

  • Tantalum silicide films are prepared from a composite $TaSi_{28}$ target source and subjected to rapid thermal annealing($500-1100^{\circ}C$, 20sec) in Ar ambient. The formation and the properties of tantalum silicides have been investigated by using 4-point probe, x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope(SEM), Auger electron spectroscope(AES), and ${\alpha}$-step. It has been found that the sample annealed above $700^{\circ}C$ forms a polycrystalline $TaSi_2$ phase, and grains grow in granular form regardless of the kind of substrates. The mechanism of the formation of tantalum silicide is the nucleation and growth by Ta-Si short range reaction. The tantalum silicide film has the relatively low resistivity($70-72.5{\mu}{\Omega}-cm$) and smooth surface roughness.

  • SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language) and its application to full-text database including a table, a figure and a picture are explained. A structure of SGML based full-text database Is defined by DTD(document type definition) written in SGML, and full-text itself is described with generalized markup depending on DTD. This article explains how to represent a document structure : a hierarchical structure like a chapter, a section, or a paragraph, or non-hierarchical(referencial) structure like a note, a table, a figure or a picture. Merits of SGML, electronic publishing, a retrieval system or hypertext and SGML tools are also described.
