Sensitivity Improvement and Operating Characteristics Analysis of the Pressure Sensitive Field Effect Transistor(PSFET) Using Highly-Oriented ZnO Piezoelectric Thin Film

  • We demonstrate the improvement of sensitivity and analysis of operating characteristics of the piezoelectric pressure sensor using ZnO piezoelectric thin film and FET(field effect transistor) for sensing applied pressure and transforming the pressure into electrical signals, respectively. The sensitivity of the PSFET(pressure sensitive field effect transistor) was improved by using highly-oriented ZnO film perpendicular to the substrate surface and the operating characteristics was investigated by monitoring output voltage with time in various static pressure levels.

  • As a final step for developing a small-scale solar thermal power generation technology, a demonstration project for a dish-stirling power system has been carried out by KIER. During the two years project period, 10kW solar-only power system was built in Jinhae city and successful solar operations were demonstrated. In this paper an example of typical clean day operation and analysis results was introduced.

  • For improving magnetic properties of the amorphous Fe-B-Si alloy, we annealed in a magnetic field oriented in the plane of the ribbon longitudinal to its long axis. By field annealing, coercive force and total core loss are reduced from 0.04 Oe to 0.02 Oe, and from 0.25 watt/kg to 0.15 watt/kg respectively comparing with non-field annealed specimen. These reductions were caused by the formation of $180^{\circ}$ domains parallel to the annealing field due to the induced anisotorpy.

  • As a train control system becomes a large scale and complex, it is necessary to control rigorously the system requirements specification of the train control system at the early phase. This paper describes Use Cases and activity diagrams of ATS functions requirements in the train control system. Basic functions of the train control system refers to IEC 62290-land are suggested. And the basic functions includes train operation without a driver. It is anticipated that this paper will be helpful for the analysis of ATS functions, ATO functions and EI function in the train control system.

  • Objective : It is well known that Gagamsojeokbackchool-san show antitumor effects and its activities are result from enhancement of immune function, we investigated the antitumor effects of Sambonggangyongbaneo-tang and its mechanism. Methods : We measured change of body weight, weight of immune organs (Spleen, Thymus), Liver, Kidney, tumor weight, cytotoxicity for investigation of antitumor effects of Sambonggangyongbaneo-tang. Results : 1. The body weight of mouse has no significant difference between control and sample groups. 2. The weights of immune organs (Spleen and Thymus) decreased significantly in sample groups. The weights of Liver and Kidney have no significant difference. 3. The tumor weights in mouse decreased significantly in sample groups and showed dose-dependent effect. 4. Cell viability of Sarcoma 180 has no significant difference in sample groups. 5. HeLa cell viability has no significant difference in low concentration, but it decreased significantly in high concentration. Conclusions : According to the above results, it could be suggested that Sambonggangyongbaneo-tang has prominant antitumor effects and cytotoxicity.

New HDAC inhibitor, IN2001 induces apoptosis/cell cycle arrest in human breast cancer cells

  • The acetylation of histone is one of the mechanisms involved in the regulation of gene expression and is tightly controlled by two core enzymes, histone acetyltransferase (HAT) and deacetylase (HDAC). There are several reports that imbalance of HAT and HDAC activity is associated with abnormal behavior of the cells in morphology, cell cycle, differentiation, and carcinogenesis. Recently, an increasing number of structurally diverse HDAC inhibitors have been identified that inhibit proliferation and induce differentiation and/or apoptosis of tumor cells in vivo and in vitro. In this study, we have investigated the effects of novel HDAC inhibitors, IN2001 on ER positive and ER negative human breast cancer cell lines. The growth inhibition, cell cycle arrest and apoptosis of cells by HDAC inhibitors were determined using SRB assay, DNA fragmentation, and flow cytometry. We found that IN 2001 as well as Trichostatin A inhibited cell growth dose-dependently in both ER Positive and ER negative human breast cancer cell lines. The growth inhibition with HDAC inhibitors was associated with profound morphological change. The result of cell cycle analysis after 24 h exposure of IN2001 showed G2-M cell cycle arrest in MCF-7 cell and apoptosis in T47B and MDA-MB-231 cell. In summary, IN2001 has antiproliferative effect on human breast cancer cells regardless of the expression of estrogen receptor. These findings heights the possibility of developing HDAC inhibitors as potential anticancer therapeutic agents for the treatment of breast cancer.

Multi-band Folded Monopole Internal Antenna for Mobile Handset Applications (이동통신 단말기용 다중대역 폴디드 모노폴 내장형 안테나)

  • In this paper, a multi-band folded planar monopole internal antenna for mobile handset applications is proposed. The proposed antenna has multi-resonances, which is different from a conventional folded monopole antenna, and it provides a wide bandwidth at high frequency bands. The measured impedance bandwidth (VSWR < 3) is 180 MHz and 1880 MHz in lower and higher frequency bands, respectively. The proposed antenna can effectively cover most wireless communication bands including CDMA, GSM, GPS, DCS, PCS, and W-CDMA, WiBro and S-DMB.

  • Studies suggested an increase in the competitiveness and roles of mainline railways like speed and accessibility improvement, as a fundamental direction of the National Transport Network Plan. At this point, topics presented especially for strengthening the role of human and environment centered transportation: as to the greatly improved speed competitiveness, there are an operational speed above 180km/h ~ 200km/h and traveling within 2 ~ 3 hours among big cities. As to accessibility improvement, there are accessibility to main railway stations within 30 minutes, and the improvement of accessibility, safety, eco-friendliness, amenity etc. As a part of these suggestions, field specific plans were proposed for the establishment of expressed mainline railway network in Korea such as train's, civil structures, trolley lines etc. In this paper we analyzed the conventional lines and systems to figure out whether to change details in terms of H/W of signaling system. Additionally, we reviewed the compatibility or difference of signalling system depending on train's speed. With this result, we deduced the number of virtual blocks specific to the speed of 180km/h, 200km/h and 230km/h, which were showed for the speed improvement considering each variable like blocks, braking distance etc. In this way, we suggested the railway signal system establishment plan considering safety operation.

Estimation of Noise around the Turnout System Induced by the Tilting Train (틸팅열차 운행 시 분기기 인근의 소음특성 평가)

  • A turnout system which permits trains to pass from one track to another is a combination of the switch, the crossing, lead rails which are necessary to connect the switch and the crossing, two guard rails and a switch machine for operating the switch. In Korea, it has been planned to adopt the high speed tilting train which is suitable for the circumstance of Korea and operates at the maximum speed of 180 km/h, at conventional lines by the year of 2010. For the present, the prototype of the tilting train has been fabricated, and has undergoing a trial run. In this study, evaluation of noise around the turnout system induced by the tilting train has been implemented through the field measurements.

  • Chest lateral decubitus is a chest examination to determine the persence of pleural fluid in thorax. In this study, we prepare recumbent holding position time standard of chest lateral decubitus. The records of 15 patients with chest lateral decubitus between May and Jun. Recumbent holding time is 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 210, 240 seconds. The result is fluid level change between 0.88mm to 9.63. Fluid heigh change between 9.9 percent to 42.5 percent. We can confirm fluid level change with chest decubitus image. The proper time for fluid level change is 180 seconds.
