  • The purpose of this study is to calculate transmission loss of KHST passenger vehicle's wall section accurately Typical transmission loss measurement of wall in the laboratory condition was carried out in advance, which is easier than KHST. Transmission loss results were compared with those by statistical acoustic method. Transmission loss values of KHST calculated by experimental method are compared with those from closed form solution.

  • Tn this study, the crashworthy design of the full rake of KHST (Korean High Speed Train under development in G7-project) is numerically evaluated using 2-dimensional crash dynamics. The results of KHST are compared with those of TGV-K (TGV for Seoul-Pusan line). KHST shows better crashworthy behaviors after impact. Specifically, impact forces, decelerations and overriding displacements are much reduced in KHST All the design guidelines under SNCF accident scenario (collision against a movable rigid mass of 15 ton at 110 km/h) are satisfied in KHST.

  • The KHST(Korean High Speed Train) which had been developed by through 'G7-R&D project' has succeeded trial running test up to 350km/h on the Kyoung-Bu High Speed Track in December 16th, 2004. In order to evaluate the function and characteristics of KHST, various experimental conditions have been considered and conducted. In this paper, measured current collection characteristics and dynamic behaviors of KHST's pantograph are analysed over 300 to 350km/h in running speed of KHST. A measuring system developed and installed on the KHST for measuring the performance and mechanical characteristics of the KHST's pantograph was used for this trial running test and eventually, we proofed that KHST has a remarkable and stable current collection characteristics as it had been designed.

  • The Korean High Speed Train(KHST) had been developed and evaluating on the Kyoung-Bu High Speed Line by through 'G7-R&D project'. In order to evaluate the function and characteristics of high speed train system, various experimental conditions have been considered and conducted. In this paper, current collection characteristics of KHST between pantograph and catenary system and dynamic behaviors are measured and analysed over 300 to 350km/h in running speed of KHST.   • Transmission loss of KHST passenger vehicle was calculated using measured acoustic data: In order to verify the transmission loss results for KHST case, similar experiment was carried out in laboratory condition, which result was compared those by geometric acoustic method. The computational results shows good agreement with the transmission loss magnitude from experiments. This paper also mentions items to obtain more accurate transmission loss values, i. e. how to assure reverberant field condition, the selection of source speaker' location.

A Study on Indoor Noise Prognosis for KHST (한국형 고속전철(KHST) 실내소음 예측에 관한 연구)

  • It is required that the indoor-noise level of KHST (Korean high speed train) should be lower than 66 ㏈(A) at 350 km/h. In this study, the indoor-noise level of KHST has been predicted to determine the maximum allowable sound power levels of major noise sources. It is found that the indoor-noise requirement for KHST can be met by increasing the transmission losses of the floor and side-wall structures as well as by lowering the sound power levels of two major noise sources including the motor fans.

  • We test the running performance of KHST(Korean High Speed Train) that is developed in Korea. The interior noise of high speed train is dependent on the train speed generally and is one of the most important problem recently. In this paper, we present the test results of interior noise for KTX and KHST and examine into the cause of interior noise for KTX. From the analysis results, we know that the interior noise of KHST is lower about $2{\sim}5dB(A)$ than KTX and also the noise levels of KTX at 80Hz and 250Hz in tunnel increase very highly.

A Study on Strategical Penetration of the Korean High-Speed Train System into Chinese Market through the Technology Transfer (한국형 차세대 고속전철의 기술이전을 통한 중국진출 방안 연구)

  • Studied was a strategic plan for the Korean High-Speed Train system to penetrate the Chinese railway market in exchange of the technology of KHST. Firstly, taken was a glance at Chinese Government plans to extend total length of his railway lines and to construct the Beijing~Shanghai high-speed railway line. Then, disparity of railway technology in Korea and China was reviewed. From the review, SWOT Analysis were carried out to penetrate the foreign markets. Countermeasures to cope with SWOT were also considered. Strategical governmental supports and the establishment of the special organization to be in charge of penetration of KHST into foreign markets were proposed. Finally, also proposed was the transfer of KHST technology to Chinese counterparts in exchange of tangible benefits for Korean side. The benefits may include (1) adoption of KHST as the type of rolling stock for the Beijing~Shanghai line, (2) guarantee of participation in the project and royalty for the KHST technology used for the future high-speed railway line construction, (3) prior written approval and partnership when making its way to third country, and (4) participation of Korean construction companies in Chinese railway construction project, etc. Adoption of KHST in China indeed gives chance to integrate the high-speed railway network after reunification of Korean peninsular, and enhance the economic ties between two countries.
