In this study, the assessment of livestock manure nitrogen loading for recycling farming in Yeoju-Gun carried out comparing manure units based on the cultivation areas and the N-amount of manure that are generated from livestock manure. Manure units (MU) are used in the permitting, registration, because they allow equal standards for all animals based on manure nutrient production. An MU is calculated by multiplying the number of animals by manure unit factor for the specific type of animal. The manure unit factor for MU determination was determined by dividing amounts of manure N produced 80kg N/year. In this study, manure unit by nitrogen concentration and amount of animal manure was calculated as follows: Hanwoo multiplied by 0.36, dairy cows multiplied by 0.8. swine multiplied by 0.105. The laying hens and broilers multiplied by 0.0079, 0.0049, respectively. The analysis of liquid manure unit per ha shows that the N loading by LMU is quite different by region. When it comes to nitrogen loading, the LMU per ha of cultivated land in excess of the N-amount was the highest in the Bukne-myeon province with 2.76 MU/ha, which is higher than the appropriate level. The Ganam-myeon province came next with 2.53 LMU. To be utilized as a valid program to build the environmentally friendly agricultural system, diverse measures shall be mapped out to properly determine manure units, evaluate N-loading and to properly manage their nutrient balance of each region.
The present study investigated the effects of loose farrowing type during gestation and after farrowing on reproductive performance and of lactating sows. A total of 22 primiparous sows (Landrace; average initial body weights [BW], 228.54 ± 12.79 kg) were allotted to one of two treatments on the basis of body weight. Sows were divided into two experimental groups, conventional farrowing crates (CON), and loosed-farrowing pens (LFP). The experiment duration was around 38 days ranging from 10 days before parturition to 28 days after parturition. Gestating sows at the age of 105 d were placed in gestational stalls (group housing). All the sows were fed a common diet according to the National Research Council requirements for lactation. Cross-fostering was performed within 1 day of parturition. From 1 day after weaning, estrus detection was performed twice-daily (0900 and 1730 h) for 10 min by boar exposure. There were significant effects of LFP housing type on the farrowing duration, and farrowing interval. At the farrowing time, none of the litter parameters including total born, stillborn, mummy, born alive piglets and total litter weight and piglet weight were affected. There were no effects of housing type on the mortality of piglets at d 1, 3, 7, 21, and 28. In conclusion, the result of this study showed that there is no performance difference between the crated or LFP sows, which indicate that the LFP housing has the potential to be used as an alternative to the crated house without any detrimental effects in reproduction performance of lactating sows.
Objective : This study was undertaken to determine if Juglandis Semen herbal acupuncture(Ja) has a protective effect against glycerol-induced acute renal failure in rats. Methods : Rats were dehydrated for 24hr and then injected with 5 ml/kg of 50 % glycerol, one-half of dose in each hindlimb muscle. In experiments for Ja effect, rats received 0.1 ml of Ja extraction in both sides of corresponding $Sh\grave{e}nsh\bar{u}(BL_{23})$ of human body and non-acupuncture points(the root of tail) for 3 days after injection of glycerol. The experimental group were divided into the Normal group, the Control group, the Ja to $Sh\grave{e}nsh\bar{u}(BL_{23})$ group(Ja-AS), the Ja to non-acupuncture points group(Ja-AN). Results : There were significant decrease of urine volume, BUN, fractional glucose excretion, fractional phosphate excretion, total protein level in Ja-AS as compared with the control group. Conclusion : This suggests that Ja-AS could be used in prevention and treatment of acute renal failure. However, the precise mechanisms of Ja protection remain to be determined.
Background: Cyanazine is used as a pre-emergent herbicide once during the growing season to control weeds of many upland crops worldwide. This study aimed to establish a method to determined cyanazine residue levels in major medicinal crops by using high performance liquid chromatography-UV detection/mass spectometry (HPLC-UVD/MS). Methods and Results: Cyanazine residue was extracted with acetone from the raw products of four representative medicinal plants - Scutellaria baicalensis, Paeonia lactiflora, Platycodon grandiflorum and Angelica gigas. The extract was diluted with a large volume of saline water and directly partitioned into dichloromethane to remove polar co-extractives in the aqueous phase. It was then purifined using optimized Florisil column chromatography. HPLC analysis conducted using an octadecylsilyl column allowed the successful separation of cyanazine from co-extractives of the samples, and the amount was sensitively quantified by ultraviolet absorption at 225 nm with no interference. The accuracy and precision of the proposed method were validated by conducting recovery experiments on each medicinal crop sample fortified with cyanazine at two concentration levels per crop in triplicate. Conclusions: The mean recoveries ranged from 91.2% to 105.3% for the four representative medicinal crops. The coefficients of variation were less than 10%, irrespective of the sample types and fortification levels. The limit of quantification of cyanazine was 0.02 mg/kg as verified by the recovery experiment. A confirmatory method was performed by liquid chromatography/MS using selected-ion monitoring technique to clearly identify the suspected residue.
This study aimed for the examination of quality characteristics and safety of potassium sorbate-free meat products. Therefore, experiments were carried out on the frankfurter sausage and pressed ham, which were stored at 4 and 30$^{\circ}C$ for up to 40 days. The potassium sorbate concentrations of the frankfurter sausage and pressed ham obtained from local market ranged from 1.087 to 1.449g / kg, which were below the permitted value as prescribed in the Korean Hygienic Regulation. At the 0 day the total aerobic bacterial counts of frankfurter sausage and pressed ham were in the level of around 103.0 and 103.4 CFU / g, respectively. However, they were prominently increased after 20 days at 4$^{\circ}C$ and 10 days at 30$^{\circ}C$ to higher than 105 CFU / g. After 30 days the counts were increased to 106.5 and 107.2 CFU / g, respectively. The growth curve of lactic acid bacteria was shown to be similar with that of total bacteria. the counts of lactic acid bacteria of the products stored at 4$^{\circ}C$ were 101∼102 CFU / g lower than those stored at 30$^{\circ}C$. Coliform bacteria was not detected in both of the products stored at 4$^{\circ}C$ even after 40 days storage, but after 10 days at the 30$^{\circ}C$. No significant differences in the microbial counts examined in this study were observed between frankfurter sausage and pressed ham. The biochemical tests on the isolated colonies from Clostridein agar showed no presence of Clostridium botulinum and Clostridium perfringens in the meat products examined. The pH of frankfurter sausage and pressed ham at the beginning was about 6.6, which level was maintained relatively constant during the storage at 4$^{\circ}C$, but it was increased after decrease to about 5.5 during the storage at 30$^{\circ}C$. TBA value was increased slightly till 30 days, but after that time increased sharply. VBN value was increased slowly during the whole storage, but it was more than 30 mg% for the samples stored at 30$^{\circ}C$.

The more detailed studies about these trace mineral status should be required.
Objectives : The transient inflammation has been demonstrated to alter visceral motor response (VMR) and acute mucosal inflammation may precede the manifestation of visceral hyperalgesia in animal models. The purpose of our study is to compare effects of the different frequencies applied electroacupuncture (EA) on acupoints in acute colitis induced by trinitrobenzenesulphonic acid (TNBS). Methods : In Male Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 250~400g, a single colorectal administration of TNBS (5mg/kg) was made and electrode for electromyography (EMG) recording were stitched into the external oblique musculature. EA of either ST25 or ST36 were applied and stimulation parameter was modulated as follows: 2, 10, or 100 Hz with intensity of 2 mA and 1 ms pulse duration for 30 min. The balloon was inserted intra-anally and VMR to colorectal distension (CRD) was quantified with an EMG recording system. Results : The VMR increased significantly 3 days after TNBS intra-rectal colonic injection in rats. Both 2 Hz and 10 Hz EA on ST36 suppressed VMR to CRD in the acute colitis model but not 100 Hz. Only 10 Hz EA on ST25 suppressed VMR to CRD in the acute colitis. Conclusions : These data show that 10 Hz EA potently inhibits hypersensitivity of colorectum after TNBS induced colitis.
The studies were attempted to evaluated the therapeutic effects of various fractions(ether, methanol, butanol) of Caragana chamlagu roots on the hyperlipemia induced by feeding the diet containing 1%, cholesterol and 0.5%, cholic acid in rats, and on the hyperglycemia induced by streptozotocin in rats. Also the preventive effects of these fractions were studies on the liver damage in $CCl_4-intoxicated$ rats. The followings were obtained as the results: 1.The butanol fraction was significantly shown to down the serum lipid level in 1%, cholesterol and 0.5%, cholic acid diet-feeding rats and streptozotocin-induced hyperglycemic rats. Cholesterol level in $CCl_4-intoxicated$ rats was reduced in the case of all pre-treated groups. 2.The serum glucose level of streptozotocin-induced hyperglycemic rats was significantly decreased by the administration of various fractions of C. chamlagu roots, and the lipid-peroxidation of pancreas was significantly decreased in the case of administration of these fractions. 3.The activates of s-GOT and s-GPT were decreased by the administration of various fractions, especially in butanol fraction, of C. chamlagu roots in the $CCl_4-intoxicated$ rats. The liver lipid-peroxidation was decreased by administration of 200mg/kg of these fractions in the $CCl_4-intoxicated$ rats. In histological observation, hepatic cellular necrosis and fatty acid deposit were increased remarkably by $CCl_4-intoxication$, but the pretreatment of various fractions of C. chamlagu roots improved the pathological change of parenchymatous cell necrosis and fatty change around centrilobular area of the control.

To study on antioxidant effects in the liver of 40-week-old mouse, the sample were orally pretreated 5mg/kg/day for 5 days with red ginseng saponin components(total saponin, protopanaxadiol saponin, protopanaxatriol saponin, ginsenoside-Rd, ginsenoside-Re, compound-K) for 5 days. The ability of saponin to protect the mouse liver from oxidative damage was examined by determining the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD), glutathione peroxidase(GPx) and the contents of glutathione, the level of malondialdehyde, The only protopanaxadiol among the ginseng saponin fractions was significantly increased the hepatic SOD activity(p<0.01). The red ginseng saponin induced a slight increase of GPx activity, especially ginsenoside Rd, compound K and protopanaxatriol treatments significantly increased its activity. The content of glutathione was significantly increased by total saponin, protopanaxadiol and ginsenoside Rd(p<0.01), but the oxidized glutathione level was lowered in all the red ginseng saponin. Finally, the level of malondialdehyde was significantly decreased by ginsenoside Rd and protopanaxadiol. In conclusion, protopanaxadiol and ginsenoside Rd among the saponin fraction were especially increased in the activity of hepatic antioxidative enzyme and decreased the lipid peroxidation that was expressed in term of MDA formation. This comprehensive antioxidant effects of red ginseng saponin seems to be by a certain action of saponin other than a direct antioxidant action.

Friction mechanisms is a very important role in the industrial machinery. However, many experiments have been conducted to reduce the loss of energy resources and parts used due to friction because the friction force adversely affects parts, efficiency, noise, and the like of the power unit. Therefore, in this study, the friction coefficient according to the characteristics of the lubricant was measured to find out which Grease Lubricant maintains the low friction coefficient without being most affected by external conditions. A total of five grease lubricants were tested in this study: GHP CAL 301, GHP EP 2, GHP KG 10, GHP HPG 2, and GHP HTG 2. And the friction coefficient was conducted by changing the load conditions (2, 4, 6, 8, 10N) and rotational speed (24, 48, 67, 86, 105, 124, 143, 162vrpm) using a pin-on-disk wear test system. Also, duty number were calculated. As a result, it was confirmed that in all grease lubricants, the speed did not significantly affect the friction coefficient, and it was confirmed that in all lubricants, the size of the friction coefficient decreased as the load increased from a small load to a large load. In addition, it was determined from the experimental results that GHP EP 2 is the most suitable as a grease lubricant and GHP CAL 301 is not the most suitable.
