  • PET FDY was heat set at various temperatures and times and the microstructural changes was investigated through crystallinity, birefringence and melting behavior analyses. Crystallinity of heat set PET increased as the treatment temperature and time increased. Birefringence also increased as temperature and time increased. The melting behavior of heat set PET was as follows: In most cases, PET showed double melting peaks. As temperature and time increased, form II crystal became sharp and increased in size, and form I crystal decreased in size. The slower the heating rate, the higher the programmed heating effect during DSC analysis.

  • This paper reports the impeller performance of centrifugal pump, modified HES65-250. Developed CFD code uses SIMPLE algorithm, power-law scheme, standard $k-{\espilon}$ turbulence model in curvilinear coordinate system. The calculations are conducted for 5 cases, from 0.6 to 1.4 of flow rate ratio with 0.2 increment. The flow characteristics inside of impeller are analysed. The results show that reversal flows exist at the inlet of impeller which have small rotary stagnation pressure. The obtained results are compared with the experimental data at impeller exit and shows good qualitative agreement.

  • A petroleum-based isotropic pitch fiber spun by melt-blown method was oxidized in air flow at various conditions. The oxidized pitch fiber obtained was tested for its infusibility and its elemental composition during the process of stabilization. The structural changes were traced by using solvent solubility, FT-IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The samples showed a gradual increase in weight with increasing the oxidization temperature. The weight gain of sample oxidized at $320^{\circ}C$ for 10 min was about 4.5%. The concentration of the pyridine and toluene soluble fraction decreased with an increase in stabilization temperatures. The oxygen uptaken in the stabilization process converted aliphatic side chains into the carbonyl groups. As stabilization proceeded, the more ether and carboxylic acid groups were formed through the oxidations of aldehyde and primary alcohol, and then the carboxylic acid was dehydrated to be aromatic anhydride.

  • Space may be a scarce resource in manufacturing shops, warehouses, freight terminals, and container terminals. This Paper discusses how to locate temporary storage Inventories In limited storage areas. A typical inventory is delivered from the location of the preceding process to the storage area and stored In the storage area during the certain period of time. And it may be relocated from the storage position to another. Finally. it is delivered from the final storage area to the location of the next process. Because this logistic process for an inventory requires handling activities, transportation activities, and storage spaces, the limitation in capacities of handling equipment, transportation equipment, and storage space must be considered when allocating spaces to the inventory. This problem Is modeled as a multicommodity minimal cost flow problem. And a heuristic algorithm for the Problem is proposed. Numerical experiments are presented to validate the mathematical model and the heuristic algorithm.

  • Automatic measurement system is required since cycle time and cost of production are increased by various factors in manual systems. This paper presents a machine vision based prototype measurement system for the automotive axisymmetric shape parts which are generally measured by a manual system that is required the tolerance of the part is very small on each machined surface. This measurement system adopts a method in which optical lens is transferred along the profile of the part to minimize measurement cycle time. The main interest of this paper is a development of an optimum measurement algorithm to the outside diameter of the parts that can be applied to various combinations of hardware. The operating system used to implement the whole system is Window XP and corresponding environment.

  • Mountain Wells are very important water source for the most of the climbers in Seoul area. But the facilities around the wells are not modernized to prevent from contamination of microorganism and the other pollutants. We focussed our intention on the detection of some harmful chemical ingredients and contaminants. A total of 58 wells were examined according to the Standard Methods(APHA) and the following results were obtained: 1) Among the examined 58 wells, only 10 wells were adequate to the drinking water standard, 2) 7.9mg of liberated $CO_2$ was found in the Tchun-Ho-Dong Mineral Well, 3) Chemically harmful ingredients were not found, 4) The Mountain Wells were contaminated by Coliform groups as many as 18 times than rural wells.

  • Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagions disease of cloven-hoofed animals and occurs in many non-European countries, in particular in huge parts of Asia including Turkey, in most countries of Africa and in parts of South America. The extreme contagiousness of the disease requires comprehensive to control an outbreak, causing high economic losses. The outbreak of FMD, which affects livestock including cattle, swine, sheep, goats, deer and other animals as a highly communicable disease that affects. The agency issued a statement noting that FMD disease does not spread to humans. The disease and meat from infected animals are news reports that more than 3.400.000 livestock have been ordered slaughtered so far across the country.

  • The study on the nerve cells in the subesophageal ganglion of 5-day-old cabbage butterfly, Pieris rapae L., was performed to observe their ultrastructures and classify them on the basis of the differences in size, shape and relative distribution of cell organelles. 1. Type I neurons: These cells are neurosecretory granules ranging 100 to 300 nm in size. 2. Type II neurons: As giant neurons averaging 25 to $30{\mu}m$ in size, such as mitochondria and Golgi apparatus. 3. Type III neurons: These spindle-shaped cells range 9 to $15{\mu}m$ in width. 4. Type IV neurons: These cells have a range of diameter from 12 to $16 {\mu}m$. The cells are abundantly observed in the subesophageal ganglion. 5. Type V neurons: These cells are very small nerve cells with 4.5 to $8.0{\mu}m$ in size and have a prominent nucleus.

  • This study was conducted in order to evaluate the quality characteristics of Gouda cheeses supplemented with fruit liquor (Prunusmume or Cornus officinalis). Fruit liquor was supplemented to Gouda cheeses during preparation. Changes in chemical composition, lactic acid bacterial population, pH, water-soluble nitrogen, sensory characteristics, and proteolysis were monitored in the prepared ripened cheese. The electrophoresis patterns of cheese proteins, fruit liquor functional component concentrations, and the flavonoid content of the cheeses were also determined. The addition of fruit liquor did not affect (p> 0.05) the appearance or sensory characteristics of the cheeses. Higher amounts of crude ash, mineral, and flavonoids (p< 0.05) were observed in the liquor supplemented cheese than in the control cheese. Findings from this study suggest that wine supplemented Gouda could provide additional nutrients while maintaining flavor and quality.
