To investigate the effect of soil water control on yield and quality of musk melon in plastic film house, irrigation points were treated with -10, -20, -30, -50 and -100 kPa by 10mm dripping each time at fruit developing and ripening stage, respectively. Fresh weight of stem and leaves was not significant among irrigation points, but percentage of dry matter was highest at -100kPa and lowest at -10kPa. Marketable yield was not different among -50kPa, -100kPa, -30kPa and -20kPa and lowest at -10kPa. Sugar content of the flesh fruit at ripening stage was 15.1 $^。/Brix at -50kPa and 14.4 $^。/Brix at -10kPa Therefore, optimum irrigation point at ripening stage of fruit is -50kPa by 10mm dripping each time. time.

The selection of a suitable adsorbent for removing organic sulfur compounds tetrahydrothiophene (THT) and t-butylmercaptan (TBM) from natural gas has been carried out. The saturation adsorption capacity for the sulfur compounds were determined by pulse adsorption method for a group of nanoporous materials, including Na-Y, Na-ZSM-5, Na,K-ET(A)S-10, Na-Mordenite, Na,K-Clinoptitolite, Ti/MCM-41, Ti/SBA-15 and amorphous titanosilicates. Among the materials tested, Na-Y and Na,K-ET(A)S-10 zeolites showed high adsorptive capacities for THT and TBM. The saturation capacity for THT on Na,K-ETS-10 was comparable with that on Na-Y zeolite, which is well known as an effective adsorbent. The capacity and adsorptivity for THT and TBM on Na,K-ETAS-10 were improved by an increase in crystallinity of Na,K-ETAS-10. An investigation of the competitive adsorption between THT and TBM from the breakthrough test using a simulated natural gas indicates that Na,K-ETS-10 selectively adsorbs THT. The breakthrough capacity for THT on Na,K-ETS-10 was 1.19 mmol/g. The results show that the high adsorption performance of Na.K-ETS-10 and Na,K-ETAS-10 is due to the highly exchanged cations in the zeolitic structure which exhibit the strong electrostatic interactions with organic sulfur compounds and their wide pore nature.
In order to investigate the optimum irrigation point by soil water tension in oriental melon grown in plastic greenhouse during low temperature season, irrigation points from 10 days before fruiting to 10 days before harvesting were examined with 10, 20, 30 and 50 kPa, respectively. Total amount of water applied was 92.5mm at 10kPa but not irrigated at 50kPa due to the unreach of irrigation point. Fruit weight increased with increased soil water content; it was 456g at 10kPa but 324g at 50kPa. While marketable yield of fruit was lowest at 10 kPa due to increased fermented fruit. Sugar content in fruit was highest at 30 or 50 kPa but lowest at 10kPa. As a result, for higher sugar content and marketable yield, the recommended irrigation point is 30kPa of soil water tension.
with the chemical equilibrium formula by Hailwood and Horrobin, $$m=a{\cdot}((k_1k_2h)(1+k_1k_2h)^{-1}+(k_2h)_n-k_2h)^{-1})$$, based on absorption theory, monthly equilibrium moisture content(EMC) variations in southern Korea were predicted. The results were as follows: $$k_1=47370272{\cdot}10^{-7}+477345{\cdot}10^{-7}t-502775{\cdot}10^{-8}t^2$$$$k_2=705940864{\cdot}10^{-9}+16979472{\cdot}10^{-10}t-555336{\cdot}10^{-11}t^2$$$$w=2233848{\cdot}10^{-4}+694242{\cdot}10^{-6}+185328{\cdot}10^{-7}t^2$$ Here, it is temperature degrees in Celsius, k is the equilibria between hydrate water and dissolved water, k is the equilibria between dissolved water and the water vapour pressure surrounding atmosphere, w is the molecular weight of the polymer unit that forms the hydrate, h is the relative vapour pressure, And the formula was well agreed with the data when the constant values ${\alpha}$ were given to be 2200 in January, February, October, November and December, 1850 in March, April and May, 1920 June, July, August, and September seasonally.
Fabricated were ultra-shallow $p^+-n$ junctions on n-type Si(100) substrates using decaborane $(B_{10}H_{14})$ ion implantation. Decaborane ions were implanted at the acceleration voltages of 5 kV to 10 kV and at the dosages of $1\times10^{12}\textrm{cm}^2$.The implanted specimens were annealed at $800^{\circ}C$, $900^{\circ}C$ and $1000^{\circ}C$ for 10 s in $N_2$ atmosphere through a rapid thermal process. From the measurement of the implantation-induced damages through $2MeV^4 He^{2+}$ channeling spectra, the implanted specimen at the acceleration voltage of 15 kV showed higher backscattering yield than those of the bare n-type Si wafer and the implanted specimens at 5 kV and 10 kV. From the channeling spectra, the calculated thicknesses of amorphous layers induced by the ioin implantation at the acceleration voltages of 5 kV, 10 kV and 15 kV were 1.9 nm, 2.5 nm and 4.3 nm, respectively. After annealing at $800^{\circ}C$ for 10 s in $N_2$ atmosphere, most implantation-induced damages of the specimens implanted at the acceleration voltage of 10 kV were recovered and they exhibited the same channeling yield as the bare Si wafer. In this case, the calculated thickness of the amorphous layer was 0.98 nm. Hall measurements and sheet resistance measurements showed that the dopant activation increased with implantation energy, ion dosage and annealing temperature. From the current-voltage measurement, it is observed that leakage current density is decreased with the increase of annealing temperature and implantation energy.
Antimuscarinic agent like antispasmodic actions of licorice alkaloidal fraction, obtained from the Glycyrrhiza glabra L., was compared with that of atropine quantitatively. For this purpose, the author calculated the kinetic constants and $ED_{50}$ for acetylcholine antagonism by these drugs on rat ileum and guinea-fig ileum longitudinal muscle according to Paton's theoretical equations describing the combination of an antagonist drug with its receptors. The results are as follows. 1. On rat ileum. a) Licorice alkaloidal fraction $K_1$ (association rate constant)=$4.078{\times}10^2\;(s^{-1}\;gm^{-1}\;ml)$$K_2$ (dissociation rate constant)=$6.986{\times}10^{-4}\;(s^{-1})$$ED_{50}(K_2/K_1)=1.772{\times}10^{-6}(gm/ml)$ b) Atropine $K_1=5.136{\times}10^6$, $K_2=7.714{\times}10^{-4}$, $ED_{50}=1.408{\times}10^{-10}$ 2. On guinea-pig ileum longitudinal muscle a) Licorice alkaloidal fraction $K_1=1.30{\times}10^2$, $K_2=1.25{\times}10^{-3}$$ED_{50}=9.58{\times}10^{-6}$ b) Atropine $K_1=5.75{\times}10^6$, $K_2=1.54{\times}10^{-3}$$ED_{50}=2.68{\times}10^{-10}$ Above results present that 1 r of licorice alkaloidal fraction has equal fotency of acetylcholine antagonism with $8.5{\times}10^{-5}r$ of atropine on rat ileum, $2.8{\times}10^{-5}r$ on guinea-pig ileum longitudinal muscle. This facts suggest that the site and numbers of licorice alkaloid receptors of guinea-pig ileum are different from that of rat ileum. Besides, it also gives a suggestion that licorice alkaloidal fraction may be a partial antagonist on guinea-pig ileum in this experimental conditions.

Changes of microbiological and physicochemical characteristics of gamma irradiated Doenjang with low salt were studied. Samples were prepared by mixing the Doenjang and the Chungkukjang with 6% and 8% of salinity. The mixture was irradiated by gamma-ray with dose of 0, 5, 10, 20 kGy, and each sample was stored at $25^{\circ}C$ for 8 weeks. The results showed that the Bacillus cell was inactivated by $10^4-10^5\;cells/g$ with dose of 10 kGy, and yeast and Lactobacillus group were nearly eliminated by 10 kGy. The general quality of gamma irradiated low salt Doenjang, such as amino nitrogen, protease activity, and pH, were more stable than that of control during storage periods. The sensory evaluations showed that 8% (salt)-5 kGy and 6% (salt)-10 kGy irradiated samples were more acceptable than market purchased Doenjang. Therefore, it was considered that gamma irradiation was effective for maintaining better quality of low salt Doenjang and suitable radiation dose was 5 kGy in 8% salted, and 10 kGy in 6% salted sample.

For accurate analysis of low molecular peptides using SELDI-TOF MS (surface enhanced laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry), the optimized analytical conditions should be established for a specific biological sample. This study was conducted to optimize SELDI-TOF MS analytical conditions for profiling low molecular peptide below 10 kDa presented in sorghum seeds. Analytical conditions were as follows; (1) protein chips: CM10 (weak cation exchanger) and Q10 (strong anion exchanger), (2) dilution factors of binding buffer: 1/2, 1/5, 1/10, 1/20, 1/50, 1/100, and 1/200, (3) the stringency of Q10 binding buffer: 10 mM and 100 mM, and (4) protein extraction buffers: sodium borate, sodium borate + acetone, phenol, and TCA buffers. Optimum dilution factors were selected as 1/20 and 1/50 in both protein chips, CM10 and Q10. Low stringency of Q10 binding buffer (10mM) detected more peptide peaks than high stringency (100 mM). Selected protein extraction buffers of sorghum seed for SELDI-TOF MS analysis was the sodium borate buffer in the range of 2~10 kDa, while the phenol buffer was more suitable in the range of 10~20 kDa.
Some analogs and their Mannich bases of Antineoplaston A10 (A10) were synthesized. Chemical yield for the 2-(or 3-)thienyl, benzol, and phenylpropionyl analogs were high but 1-naphthyl analog was synthesized in low yield. The Mannich bases formation of these analogs with morpholine went verywell compared to other bases. 1-Naphthyl, 4-nitrobenzoyl, and phenylpropionyl analogs of A10 showed weak in vitro activity but the other A10 analogs showed weaker or no activity at 10-1000mcg/ml. But their Mannich bases containing A10analogs showed good in vitro activity compared to simple A10 analogs.
The effect on active transport of $K^+$ and $Na^+$ of cell membrane model which irradiated by radiation was investigated. The cell membrane model used in this experiment was a $Na^+$ type sulfonated copolymerized membrane of styrene and divinylbenezene. The initial flux of the ion was increased with increase of both $H^+$ ion concentration. In this experiment range(pH $0.5^{-3}$), the initial flux of $K^+$ which was not irradiated by radiation was found to be from $7.9{\times}10^{-4}$ to $7.49{\times}10^{-3}mole/cm^2{\cdot}h$ and that of Na+ from $10.6{\times}10^{-4}$ to $7.68{\times}10^{-3}mole/cm^2{\cdot}h$. The initial flux of $K^+$ which was irradiated by radiation was found to be from $35.0{\times}10^{-4}$ to $42.4{\times}10^{-3}mole/cm^2{\cdot}h$ and that of $Na^+$ from $52.0{\times}10^{-4}$ to $43.3{\times}10^{-3}mole/cm^2{\cdot}h$. The membrane was selective for $K^+$ and the ratio $K^+/Na^+$ was about 1.10. And the driving force of pH of irradiated membrane was significantly increased about 4-5 times than membrane which was not irradiated. As active transport of $K^+$ and $Na^+$ of cell membrane model were abnormal, cell damages were appeared at cell.
