  • Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) is a promising approach for cellular communication due to its energy efficiency and high achievable data rate. These advantages, however, can be realized only when channel state information (CSI) is available at the transmitter. Since there are many antennas, CSI is too large to feed back without compression. To compress CSI, prior work has applied compressive sensing (CS) techniques and the fact that CSI can be sparsified. The adopted sparsifying bases fail, however, to reflect the spatial correlation and channel conditions or to be feasible in practice. In this paper, we propose a new sparsifying basis that reflects the long-term characteristics of the channel, and needs no change as long as the spatial correlation model does not change. We propose a new reconstruction algorithm for CS, and also suggest dimensionality reduction as a compression method. To feed back compressed CSI in practice, we propose a new codebook for the compressed channel quantization assuming no other-cell interference. Numerical results confirm that the proposed channel feedback mechanisms show better performance in point-to-point (single-user) and point-to-multi-point (multi-user) scenarios.

  • In this paper, we present a robust $H_{\infty}$ distributed power control scheme for wireless CDMA communication systems. The proposed scheme is obtained by optimizing an objective function consisting of the user's performance degradation and the network interference, and it enables a user to address various user-centric and network-centric objectives by updating power in either a greedy or energy efficient manner. The control law is fully distributed in the sense that only its own channel variation needs to be estimated for each user. The proposed scheme is robust to channel fading due to the immediate decision of the power allocation of the next time step based on the estimations from the $H_{\infty}$ filter. Simulation results demonstrate the robustness of the scheme to the uncertainties of the channel and the excellent performance and versatility of the scheme with users adapting transmit power either in a user-centric or a network-centric efficient manner.

  • In this paper, a extension of a fixed-complexity sphere decoder (FSD) to perform interference signal detection and cancelling is proposed for downlink multiuser multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) communication system. It is based on the application of channel matrix expansion on generalized sphere decoder (GSD), and modification of the channel matrix ordering scheme to a FSD algorithm for interference detection. A Monte Carlo simulation shows that the proposed algorithm improves the receiver performance by 3 dB as compared to maximum likelihood detection without interference cancelling at 10% packet error rate in configuration of 702 Mbit/s datarate for four users respectively on IEEE802.11ac.

  • In the wideband code division access (WCDMA) systems, a pilot channel is used to determine WCDMA network coverage, cell identification, synchronization, timing acquisition and tracking, user-set handoff, channel estimation, and so on. A wireless repeater, which is deployed in the urban area for the WCDMA system to meet the growing demand on wireless communication services, has the possibility to receive several pilot signals from a large number of base stations, however, cannot distinguish its service base station's signal among them. This pilot interference results in frequent handoffs in the user equipment, which degrades the radio reception, transmission efficiency, quality of service, and channel capacity and increases the unwanted power consumption. In this paper, thus, we propose a pilot pollution interference cancellation scheme using one of the adaptive estimation algorithms, normalized least mean square (NLMS), which is applicable to a wireless repeater. We carried out link-level and network-level computer simulations to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme in a wireless repeater. The simulation results verify the bit error rate (BER) improvement in the link level and the call drop probability improvement in the network level.

  • We propose an efficient resource allocation scheme based on interference awareness for D2D (Device-to-Device) communication in cellular networks. Recently, many researchers have studied how to allocate frequency resources to DUE (D2D User Equipment) with full interference channel information. However, it is difficult to assume a scenario where instantaneous interference information between the CUE (Cellular UE) and DUE is known to the BS (Base Station). To tackle this problem, we proposed in this paper a new scheme in which the BS allocates a resource to CUE and DUE without a full channel information and can aware interference based on only transmit power and distance between UEs. Simulation results show effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

  • In this paper, the spectrum hole prediction scheme was proposed for the cognitive radio networks using the primary user's traffic pattern. Using the channel prediction, the collision probability with primary users can be reduced and the system throuthput can be improved. Simulation result shows that the proposed method can enhance the throughput and reduce the interference to the primary user below the desired threshold.

  • In this paper, we examine what changes the next-generation wireless communication systems will experience in terms of the technologies, services, and networks and, based on that, we investigate how the inter-cell interference management should evolve in various aspects. We identify that the main driving forces of the future changes involve the data-centric services, new dynamic service scenarios, all-IP core access networks, new physical-layer technologies, and heavy upload traffic. We establish that in order to cope with the changes, the next-generation inter-cell interference management should evolve to 1) set the objective of providing a maximal data rate, 2) take the form of joint management of power allocation and user scheduling, 3) operate in a fully distributed manner, 4) handle the time-varying channel conditions in mobile environment, 5) deal with the changes in interference mechanism triggered by the new physical-layer technologies, and 6) increase the spectral efficiency while avoiding centralized coordination of resource allocation of the users in the uplink channel.

  • It is widely believed that cognitive radio (CR) networks have an opportunistic nature and therefore can only support best-effort traffics without quality-of-service (QoS) guarantees. In this paper, we propose a centralized CR network that adopts interference averaging techniques to support QoS guaranteed traffics under interference outage constraints. In such a CR network, a CR user adaptively adjusts its transmit power to compensate for the channel loss, thereby keeping the receive signal power at the CR base station (BS) at a constant level. The closed-form system capacity of such a CR network is analyzed and derived for a single cell with one CR BS and multiple CR users, taking into account various key factors such as interference outage constraints, channel fading, cell radius, and locations of primary users. The accuracy of the theoretical results is validated by Monte Carlo simulations. Numerical and simulation results show promising capacity potential for deploying QoS-guaranteed CR networks in frequency bands with fixed primary receivers. Our work can provide theoretical guidelines for the strategic planning of centralized CR networks.

  • In this paper, to improve the performance of PB/MC-CDMA system, we have researched about the decision feedback channel estimation method using the pilot symbol with data symbol. The PB/MC-CDMA system is able to obtain the improved BER by frequency diversity gain and frequency domain equalizer in the frequency selective fading channel. However, when it is not the estimating of channel exactly, it is degrading the performance of BER in the system for occurred the interference among users. To improve the performane system in the multi-user environment the proposed system is using the decision feedback to estimate channel using the channel estimated value of the first stage and second stage. The proposed system is evaluated by computer simulation. The proposed system is not only able to improve the performance of BER by decreasing the interference to each user, but also the proposed system is possible to reduce number of pilot symbol to estimate the channel. Therefore, it confirmed the proposed system improves the performance than the conventional system.

  • In this paper, the cascaded co-channel interference canceller using the dead zone decision is proposed to reduced the co-channel interference in the DS/CDMA communication with the multipath fading and its performance is analyzed. The cancellation scheme creates the replica of the co-channel interference using the data decision of correlator output and removes it at the next stage. The canceller uses the dead zone decision which is detecting strong signal to obtain a good performance in the mobile communication. The results of performance analysis show that the proposed cancellation scheme has the improved performance and the number of user is increased 4 times compared with the conventional receiver, and increased 17% compared with the hard decision. And also the perfect power control is required along with increasing the number of user.
