The Effects of Sa-Am Acupuncture on the Radial Pulse in Healthy Human Subjects: A Comparative Study of Pericardium jung-gyuck and Triple Energizer jung-gyuck

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of Sa-am acupuncture with Pericardium jung-gyuck (SA-acu-PC) and Triple Energizer jung-gyuck (SA-acu-TE) on the radial pulse in healthy human subjects. Methods: Sixty healthy subjects participated in this study and divided into three groups randomly: Control group(C), Pericardium jung-gyuck group(PC), Triple Energizer jung-gyuck group(TE). Radial pulse was measured by 3 dimensional pulse imaging system (DMP-3000) before, right after, 30 minutes after, and 60 minutes after acupuncture. Results: 1. The changes observed in periodic parameters are considered as the common effects of both SA-acu-TE and SA-acu-PC. SA-acu-TE was more effective than SA-acu-PC in these effects. 2. The effects of SA-acu-PC appeared in the pulse amplitude, pulse area, and pulse power volume mainly at the left chon position, and 3. The effects of SA-acu-TE appeared in the radial augmentation index and main peak angle mainly at the right gwan position. Conclusions: The effects of SA-acu-PC and SA-acu-TE can be observed in the radial pulse. The increases in pulse amplitude, pulse area, and pulse power volume at the left chon may imply the effects of SA-acu-PC. And the decrease in the pulse power volume, the increases in radial augmentation index and main peak angle may imply the effects of SA-acu-TE.

The Changes of Vitamin C and Lactic Acid Bacteria Count in Dongchimi used Different Kinds of Water (물의 종류를 달리한 동치미의 발효과정 중 비타민 C와 젖산균수의 변화)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes of vitamin C and lactic acid bacteria count in Dongchimi used different kinds of water (distilled water, purified water, Cho Jung Carbonated Natural water). Dongchimi used different kinds of water was fermented at $10^{\circ}C$ for 46 days. The changes of pH on Dongchimi used different kinds of water decreased in all samples during fermentation period, and then showed a slow decrease after 12 days of fermentation. The total acidity of Dongchimi used Cho Jung Carbonated Natural water arrived slowly at best tasting condition(0.3~0.4 point) compared with other conditions. The changes of salt content were ranked high one by one , Cho Jung Carbonated Natural water>purified water>distilled water during fermentation period. At early stage of fermentation, the changes of turbidity of Dongchimi used Cho Jung Carbonated Natural water showed highly as compared with other test conditions for 12 days of fermentation. Vitamin C content was measured high in Dongchimi used Cho Jung Carbonated Natural water during the fermentation period. Because calcium content was high in carbonated natural water, carbonated natural water had the highest calcium content during the fermentation period. The changes of lactic acid bacteria count showed the highest price at all experimental groups in 15 days of fermentation, but those of Dongchimi used Cho Jung Carbonated Natural water showed the highest price in 19 days of fermentation.

Studies of SipIMiGwanJungTang that get weight, hematology, biochemistry change by Wistar rat's aging (십이미관중탕(十二味寬中湯)이 Wister rat의 노화에 따른 변화에 미치는 실험적(實驗的) 고찰(考察))

  • Administrating PalMoolGoonJaTang and SipIMiGwanJungTang to 40-weeks-(old Wistar rat for 10 weeks so, I researched into weight change, weight change of internal organ, and hemtological and serological changews. Then I got these conclusions. 1. Observed gain in weight than control group form of SipIMiGwanJungTang to aged Wistar rat. 2. Is thought to promote activation of living body action gaining intestine weight along with gain in weight. 3. Displayed decrease of MDA's content of serum than control group form of SipIMiGwan JungTang to aged Wistar rat. 4. Change that is Wistar rat's hematological value by aging according to 10, 30, 50 week WBC, RBC, Hgb, monocytes, eosinophil etc. increase, and HCT, PLT etc. showed tendency that decrease according to old-week, and observed improvement that is hematological value than control group form of SipIMiGwanJungTang 5. Change that is Wistar rat's biochemical value by aging was measured highest in 50 week because ALT, AST, BUN, CRN, T-bili., T-chol., TG, TP, ALB, A/G, P etc. increase according to 10, 30, 50 week, and observed improvement that is biochemical value than control group form of SipIMiGwanJungTang As those results, PalmoolGoonJaTang and SipIMiGwanJungTang are effective against dacline of physical function as aging. Moreover, considered to the serogical results, SipIMiGwanJungTang is much more effective than the other.
