In order to investigate the longevity of the reticulocyte in peripheral blood, samples were taken from the jugular vein at birth; 2nd, 4th, 7th, and 14th day after birth in eight healthy Korean native goats (body weight 1.5 to 2.0kg). The samples were stained in 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, 24, and 48 hours after bleeding, and observed the reduction in the number of reticulocytes and the degree of the staining. The data have shown that the number and staining degree of reticulocytes in Korean native goots were appeared as normal untill 24 hours after bleeding, however, the number and staining degree were reduced in 48 hours after bleeding.

To test their roles in rumination behavior, metabolites (acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid and glucose) were intravenously infused into the jugular vein of goats during fasting. The heads of four female goats tested were locked in a stanchion of cages in an experimental room. Ruminating behaviors with regard to number of ruminations, ruminating time, number of remastications and remasticating time were significantly decreased by acetic acid infusion (p < 0.05), and tended to be depressed more on values in butyric acid infusion or glucose infusion than those in pre-infusions, but propionic acid infusion decreased a little. Those data suggest that rumination receptors sensitive to VFAs and glucose are more likely to be situated in the area, where they would respond too blood levels.
A study was undertaken to determine the incidence of short oestrus cycles and associated serum progesterone levels in Nili-Ravi buffaloes. Forty lactating buffaloes were kept under observation for oestrus activity for a period of sixty days. Blood samples from jugular vein from twenty buffaloes were used to determine associated serum progesterone levels during short oestrus cycles. Incidence of short oestrus cycles was 15.5 percent (Nine out of fifty eight oestrus cycles) and most of the short oestrus cycles occurred between first and second oestrus after calving. Lengths of short oestrus cycles ranged from 6 to 14 days. The most frequent length was 11 days. Serum progesterone levels were lower at oestrus and increased gradually attaining peak levels of 1.3 and 1.8 ng/ml on 7th day of 9 and 11 day short oestrus cycles. One buffalos exhibiting a short oestrus cycle of 12 days conceived which indicated that ovulation took place at the oestrus of short cycle.
Serum progesterone concentrations of pregnant and non-pregnant Hanwoo were compared to evaluate the possibility of early pregnancy prediction. Twenty five female Hanwoo were devided into two groups. Eighteen heads were injected with 980$\mu\textrm{g}$ tiaprost trometamol salt(Iliren:PGF2$\alpha$ analogue) for estrous synchronization and fifteen heads of them were inseminated artifically and seven heads were non-treated. Blood samples were collected from the jugular vein before PGF2$\alpha$ injection and on day 0, 18, 21 after estrous induction. Pregnancy of cattle was confirmed by rectal palpaton after 60 days of artificial insemination. The serum progesterone concentrations at heat showed no significant differences between pregnant and non-pregnant while on day 18 and 21 after estrous induction showed significant differences(p<0.05). The accuracy of pregnancy diagnosis on day 18 and 21 after estrous induction was 85.7 and 71.4% respectively while that of non-pregnancy were 71.4 and 100.0% respectively.
Aneurysms of the subclavian artery are rare in comparison with other peripheral aneurysm. Most of these aneurysms arise from atherosclerosis, thoracic outlet obstruction, or trauma. We have experienced two cases of false aneurysms occurring the subclavian artery. One was occurred in right subclavian artery distal to right thyrocervical trunk due to trauma [falling] and was corrected with resection of the aneurysm and replacement with right external jugular vein. The other was occurred in the left subclavian artery lateral to the left internal mammary artery with complication of left hemothorax probably due to infection and was corrected with resection of aneurysm and replacement with Dacron graft. Postoperative course of both were uneventful without complication.
Dogs with canine babesiosis may present with wide variation in the severity of clinical signs, ranging from a hyperacute, shock-associated, hemolytic crisis to an inapparent, subclinical infection. Dogs typically present with the acute form of babesiosis, which is characterized by general findings such as pyrexia, weakness, mucous membrane pallor, depression, hemorrhagic anemia. This study was conducted to investigate the prevalence of babesia spp. infection in dogs of Seogwipo-si. A survey of canine babesia spp. infections among 173 dogs in Seogwipo-si was performed from July 2008 to August 2008. Blood samples were collected from dogs raised outdoors through cephalic or jugular vein and Babesia spp. was diagnosed by examination of blood smear stained with Giemsa stain. Of 173 dogs, 9 dogs (5.2%) were infected with the babesia spp. This result was a little lower than the prevalence of Babesia spp. in dogs of other areas.

Metabolites, such as isopropyl alcohol (IPA) produced by rumen fermentation, were intravenously infused into a jugular vein of goats during feeding to explore the mechanism and roles of IPA in ruminating behavior (number of boli and ruminating time). Three female goats were confined in metabolism cages with a stanchion, The ruminating behavior measured by the number of ruminations, ruminating time, number of remastications, and remasticating time decreased (p<0,05) with intravenous IPA infusion. The IPA concentrations and VFA concentrations increased in the blood circulation. Our data suggest that sensitive receptors of rumination to IPA are more likely to be in an area such as the brain stem where they can respond to blood metabolite levels.

The effects of prostaglandins (PG) and indomethacin, a PG synthesis inhibitor, on ovulation in the perfused fowl ovary were studied. Laying hens were killed by cutting the jugular vein 18-19 h before expected ovulation of the second follicle of a clutch sequence. The cannulated ovary was dissected free and connected with a recycling perfusion apparatus. Agents to be studied for their effects on ovulation were added to the perfusion fluid. $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ at 0.1 and 1 mg/l induced ovulation, with a success rate of 25% and 30%, respectively. The same doses of $PGE_2$ were effective at 60% and 63%, respectively. Indomethacin partially blocked gonadotrophin-induced ovulation. It is suggested that PGs may play a supportive role in the process of follicular rupture in the domestic fowl.
This study was designed to examine therapeutic effect of honeybee venom on wound healing in tail-docked dog. Blood samples were taken of jugular vein and hematological values were analyzed in condition of pre,3- and 6-day after canine caudectomy. Apitherapy group was subcutaneously treated with an Italian honeybee(Apis mellifera ligustica). Antibiotic therapeutic group was intramuscularly iaiected with a standard dosage ol'penicluin ,G procaine(20,000 Units/kg of body weight). Changes of leucocyte, erynlrocytel hematocrit, platelet and fibrinogen were not significantly different between bee sting and penicillin injection during wound healing. No changes of wound healing in tine tests, groups were onseren. Whole honeybee venom has been shown to have a antiinflammatory effect in tail-docked dog. It may be concluded that honeybee venom is effective drug being useful far wound healing and disinfection without tissue trauma in dog.
Ponies were administered at the level of 0.1mg per kg of body weight of acetylpromazine malate through the jugular vein. Sedative effect, clinical signs such as body temperature, and changes of red blood cell counts and serum glucose concentration were investigated. Sedation was induced 5 to 6 minutes after injection of acepromazine and sedative effect was lasted for 30 to 40 minutes. Responsive reactions, however, to external stimuli were remained. Change of body temperature was not observed and heart beat was increased at the stage of induction and respiratory rate was decreased during the sedative period. Red blood cell count was considerably decreased during sedation, and concentration of serum glucose showed a tendency to increase gradually from the induction.
