  • Objectives: Spatial analysis is useful for understanding complicated causal relationships. This paper focuses trends and appling methods for spatial analysis associated with environmental asbestos exposure. Methods: Literature review and reflection of experience of authors were conducted to know academic background of spatial analysis, appling methods on epidemiology and asbestos exposure. Results: Spatial analysis based on spatial autocorrelation provides a variety of methods through which to conduct mapping, cluster analysis, diffusion, interpolation, and identification. Cause of disease occurrence can be investigated through spatial analysis. Appropriate methods can be applied according to contagiousness and continuity. Spatial analysis for asbestos exposure source is needed to study asbestos related diseases. Although a great amount of research has used spatial analysis to study exposure assessment and distribution of disease occurrence, these studies tend to focus on the construction of a thematic map without different forms of analysis. Recently, spatial analysis has been advanced by merging with web tools, mobile computing, statistical packages, social network analysis, and big data. Conclusions: Because the trend in spatial analysis has evolved from simple marking into a variety of forms of analyses, environmental researchers including asbestos exposure study are required to be aware of recent trends.

  • In this study, the researcher aimed to increase productive reflection of pre-service elementary teachers through meta-analysis of their own reflective journals. The meta-analysis activities are expected to enhance their learning effectively as a kind of self-assesment. During 8 week simulation teaching, 26 pre-service teachers kept individual journal writing and the meta-analysis activities were implemented twice (after the 3rd and 8th week). Right after the first meta-analysis, the pre-service teachers' productive reflection increased clearly. However this would not guarantee the effect would last long time period. By analyzing 8 week reflective journals, reports on meta-analysis activities and small group interview, this study shed light on practical ways of enhancing reflective teacher education.

An Analysis of the Intellectual Structure of the LIS Field: Using Journal Co-citation Analysis (학술지 동시인용분석을 이용한 문헌정보학 분야의 지적구조 분석)

  • The study investigated the intellectual structure of the library and information science field by journal co-citation analysis on thirty LIS journals with high journal impact factors. Patterns of journal-to-journal citation show the structure of journals in the field, visualized by a networked map of the journals. The result shows journals that can be considered as the core group and as the peripheral group, which corresponds to other studies for investigating the field's intellectual structure using other techniques, such as cluster analysis and multidimensional scaling.

  • Purpose: This study was designed to investigate the trends in school health research in Korea using probabilistic latent semantic analysis. The study longitudinally analyzed the abstracts of the papers published in 「The Journal of the Korean Society of School Health」 over the recent 17 years, which is between 2004 and August 2020. By classifying all the papers according to the topics identified through the analysis, it was possible to see how the distribution of the topics has changed over years. Based on the results, implications for school health research and educational uses of latent semantic analysis were suggested. Methods: This study investigated the research trends by longitudinally analyzing journal abstracts using latent dirichlet allocation (LDA), a type of LSA. The abstracts in 「The Journal of the Korean Society of School Health」 published from 2004 to August 2020 were used for the analysis. Results: A total of 34 latent topics were identified by LDA. Six topics, which were「Adolescent depression and suicide prevention」, 「Students' knowledge, attitudes, & behaviors」, 「Effective self-esteem program through depression interventions」, 「Factors of students' stress」, 「Intervention program to prevent adolescent risky behaviors」, and 「Sex education curriculum, and teacher」were most frequently covered by the journal. Each of them was dealt with in at least 20 papers. The topics related to 「Intervention program to prevent adolescent risky behaviors」, 「Effective self-esteem program through depression interventions」, and 「Preventive vaccination and factors of effective vaccination」 appeared repeatedly over the most recent 5 years. Conclusion: This study introduced an AI-powered analysis method that enables data-centered objective text analysis without human intervention. Based on the results, implications for school health research were presented, and various uses of latent semantic analysis (LSA) in educational research were suggested.

  • A New environment SENSATION for circuit optimization and statistical analysis has been developed. It provides real time simulation and includes automatic algorithms to assist for reaching optimal solution. Furthermore, statistical analysis environment is presented which aids in Monte Carlo analysis. worst case corner analysis, and sensitivity analysis. These capabilities faciliate the characterization of the effects of several operating conditions and manufacture process paramenters on the design performances. We verify that the proposed methods can obtain the optimal solution of the objective function through several experimental results.

  • This paper mentions a fault tree analysis using not probability but natural language and fuzzy theory, Reliability estimate of each basic event and dependence level estimate among subsystems are expressed by linguistic terms. Analysis results are also expressed by natural language. The meaning of linguistic terms is expressed by a fuzzy set. In the presented analysis approach parametrized operations of fuzzy sets are considered so that analyst's subjectivity can be introduced into the analysis. This paper gives the Chernobyl accident as an example of the fuzzy fault tree analysis using linguistic terms.

  • An extended version of the minimax eccentricity factor estimation for multiple set case is proposed. In addition, two more simple methods for multiple set factor analysis exploiting the concept of generalized canonical correlation analysis is suggested. Finally, a certain connection between the generalized canonical correlation analysis and the multiple set factor analysis is derived which helps us clarify the relationship.

  • NMR-based metabolomics needs various knowledge to elucidate metabolic perturbation such as NMR experiments, NMR spectrum processing, raw data processing, metabolite identification, statistical analysis, and metabolic pathway analysis regarding technical aspects. Among them, some concepts of raw data processing and multivariate analysis are not easy to understand but are important to correctly interpret metabolic profile. This article introduces NMR spectrum processing, raw data processing, and multivariate analysis.

  • The purpose of study is to analyze the spatial population distribution and accessibility of network in urban areas. This study examines the forty-six political subdivision cities in Korea at the end of 1983, except the four metrpolitans (Seoul, Pusan, Daeku and Incheon). Evaluation indexes are classified the spatial pupulation distribution and accessibility of network. To analyze the cities, 10 indexes and the statistical techniques such as descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, factor analysis and cluster analysis were used. According to the results of cluster analysis, 15 cities (Ulsasn, Suwon, Bucheon, Chungju and etc.) are classified dispersed cities and another 15 cities (Kwangju, Daejun, Sungnam, Mokpo and etc.) are classified concentrated cities.

  • This paper is concerned with marginal analysis in the detailed estimation method. In a broad sense all estimates are marginal estimates in as much as they are concerned with creating changes from a current course of action. Only after a detailed ostinato is made can the engineering realize and exploit the advantages of marginal analysis. Marginal analysis is good tool for nonlinear break-even analysis adapted real world, and much more information and efficiency of CVP(Cost-Volumn-Profit) are provided with marginal analysis.
