유한요소 모델링을 이용한 Gullwing 리드의 3차원 솔더 접합부 형상 예측 (Prediction of Three-Dimensional Solder Joint Profile in Gullwing Lead using Finite Element Modeling)

  • The three-dimensional profile of a solder fillet is predicted by minimizing the surface tension and gravity energies of the solder joint using finite element modeling. Geometric complexity stemming from the inclined plane of the gullwing lead is resolved by employing three element types. These element types are used to describe the joint profile formed on the vertical, inclined and interfacial planes. The predicted solder joint profiles show good agreements with the experimental data provided that the solder volume is adjusted considering the wicking effects. Effects of the pad length, inclined lead angle and solder volume on joint profiles are also investigated.

Static behavior of novel RCS through-column-type joint: Experimental and numerical study

  • This paper deals with experimental investigation and modeling of the static behavior of a novel RCS beam-column exterior joint. The studied joint detail is a through-column type in which an H steel profile totally embedded inside RC column is directly welded to the steel beam. The H steel profile was covered by two supplementary plates in the joint area in order to avoid the stirrups resisting shear in the joint area. Two full-scale through-column-type RCS joints were tested under static loading. The objectives of the tests were to examine the connection performance and to highlight the contribution of two supplementary plates on the shear resistance of the joint. A reliable nonlinear 3D finite element model was developed using ABAQUS software to predict the response and behavior of the studied RCS joint. An extensive parametric study was performed to investigate the influences of the stirrups, the encased profile length and supplementary plate length on the behavior of the studied RCS joint.

LIDAR를 이용한 대규모 암반 절리면의 거칠기 측정 (Measurement of Joint Roughness in Large-Scale Rock Fracture Using LIDAR)

  • 대규모 암반 절리면의 거칠기를 구하는 여러 가지 방법이 있으나, 길이 10 cm의 절리를 Barton 등이 제안한 표준절리면곡선과 비교하여 절리면 거칠기계수 JRC (joint roughness coefficient)를 결정하고 대규모 절리의 길이에 따라 보정하는 것이 가장 일반적인데, 적합한 표준 절리면곡선을 선택할 때 측정자에 따라 달라자는 경우가 많다. 따라서 대규모 암반 절리면의 거칠기 JRC는 길이에 따른 보정 없이 직접 측정하는 것이 정확할 것이나 측정방법에 한계가 있다. 본 연구에서는 대규모 암반절리를 LIDAR (light detection and ranging)로 스캔하고 절리의 길이 L과 절리면 상의 돌출부(asperity) 높이의 진폭 a를 이용하여 대규모 암반 절리의 거칠기계수 JRC를 구하였다. 그 결과 대규모의 암반 절리면에서도 절리의 길이 증가에 따라 거칠기 계수 JRC가 감소하는 비 정상상태(non-stationary)의 치수효과와 거칠기 측정방향에 따라 절리면 거칠기계수 JRC가 다른 것을 확인하였다.

워킹이 Gullwing 리드의 솔더 접합부 형상에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Wicking on Solder Joint Profile in Gullwing Lead)

  • During the reflow process in SMT, the molten solder has been observed to move upward and solidify along the gullwing lead, which is called the wicking phenomenon. In this paper, possible causes of the wicking are investigated, and its effects on the solder joint profile are quantitatively estimated by introducing the wicking constant. The free energy reduction by intermetallic formation between the copper and tin seems to be the major source of wicking action. The joint profiles of the gullwing lead are calculated using the previous finite element formulation incorporated with the wicking constant. The calculated results show reasonably good agreements with the experimental data when the wicking effects are considered.

  • To provide better understanding of a solder joint design criteria, mathematical models have been developed to calculate the shape of the solder fillets formed between the pad and lead. The effects of parameters such as solder volume and pad dimensions are described with this model. In this study, a systematic way to determine the design criteria of the SMT from the predicted 3D solder joint profile is proposed. The solder joint profile is calculated using the available 3D FEM code which minimizes the system energy due to the surface tension and gravity. The solder joint profiles of gullwing-type lead such as QFP and SOP are calculated for design parameters, and acceptable ranges are obtained. The result shows that the pad length is the most significant factor compared with the pad width and pad area.

Joint latent class analysis for longitudinal data: an application on adolescent emotional well-being

  • This study proposes generalized models of joint latent class analysis (JLCA) for longitudinal data in two approaches, a JLCA with latent profile (JLCPA) and a JLCA with latent transition (JLTA). Our models reflect cross-sectional as well as longitudinal dependence among multiple latent classes and track multiple class-sequences over time. For the identifiability and meaningful inference, EM algorithm produces maximum-likelihood estimates under local independence assumptions. As an empirical analysis, we apply our models to track the joint patterns of adolescent depression and anxiety among US adolescents and show that both JLCPA and JLTA identify three adolescent emotional well-being subgroups. In addition, JLCPA classifies two representative profiles for these emotional well-being subgroups across time, and these profiles have different tendencies according to the parent-adolescent-relationship subgroups.

후판 자동용접을 위한 용접물의 갭 측정 (Recognition of Gap between base Plates for Automated Welding of Thick Plates)

  • Many automated welding equipment are used in the industry. However, there are some problems to get quality welds because of the geometric error, thermal distortion, and incorrect joint fit-up. These factors can make the gap between base plates in case of a thick plate welding. The welding product with the quality welds can not be obtained without consideration of the gap. In this paper, the robot path and welding conditions are modified to get the quality weld by detecting the position and size of the gap. In this work, a low-priced laser range sensor is used. The 3-dimensional information is obtained using the motion of a robot, which holds a laser range sensor. The position and size of the gap is calculated using signal processing of the measured 3-dimensional information of joint profile geometry. The data measured by a laser range sensor is segmented by an iterative end point method. The segmented data is optimized by the least square method. The existence of gap is detected by comparing the data with the segmented shape of template. The effects of robot measuring speed and gap size are also tested. The recognizability fo the gap is verified as good by comparing the real joint profile and the calculated joint profile using the signal processing.

  • 3축 파이프 형상절단기에서 다양한 접합형상에 대하여 모관과 지관의 접합궤적을 수학적으로 유도하였다. 그 접합궤적에 절단폭 등의 공구 보정하여 실제로 가공할 절단궤적을 결정하여 이 공구궤적에 해당하는 CL-data를 생성하고, 또한 공구 궤적을 확인하기 위하여 ghost 기능을 구현하였다. 생성된 CL data를 PLC의 위치결정제어 모듈에 로딩하여 동시 3축($\alpha$, X, $\beta$축)의 이송을 제어하여 경로를 따라서 형상절단과 동시에 개선을 할 수 있도록 동시3축 파이프 형상절단 시스템을 개발하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 실측 데이터를 기준으로 9가지의 다양한 모델을 제안한 JTC(Joint Technical Committee) 모델을 전송 채널 모델로 채택하여 채널의 PDP(Power Delay Profile)의 불규칙성 따른 OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 통신 시스템의 성능을 분석하였다 전송 채널의 불규칙성은 Main profile의 길이, Peak 위치, Echo profile의 지연 시간, 그리고 Echo profile의 강도로 분류하여 각각에 따른 PDP를 설정하여 각 모델에 따른 OFDM 시스템의 성능 분석을 하였다.

  • It depends on the joint configuration, dimensions and constraints on the joint whether the residual stress at the root of single-sided butt weld is tensile or not. Therefore, recommendation is generally made that high R ratio should be used in the fatigue test of this type of joint in order to prevent excessively long life caused by compressive residual stress. in this research, the residual stress profile in butt weld joint was obtained through compliance method, using successive extension of a slot and measurement of the variation of strain during the slot extension. The residual stress profile was firstly assumed to be the linear summation of Legendre polynomials up to 9th order excluding 0th and 1st order. Strain variation on the surface was measured while the slot was being extended by cutting to find out the 8 unknown coefficients of each polynomial tenn. The cut was made by the electric discharge machine. It was concluded that the residual stress near the surface stayed positive, however, it turned into the negative value as soon as it passed through 2 or 3 mm depth. Several fatigue tests were also carried out under zero stress ratio. Test results showed that fatigue life coincides well with the design cuive of butt joint in British Standards, which supports that it is tensile residual stress that exists near the weld root.
