  • Combining channel coding and network coding in a physical layer in a fading channel, generalized joint channel-network coding (G-JCNC) is proved to highly perform in a two-way relay channel (TWRC). However, most relevant discussions are restricted to symmetric networks. This paper investigates the G-JCNC protocols in an asymmetric TWRC (A-TWRC). A newly designed encoder used by source nodes that is dedicated to correlate codewords with different orders is presented. Moreover, the capability of a simple common non-binary decoder at a relay node is verified. The effects of a power match under various numbers of iteration and code lengths are also analyzed. The simulation results give the optimum power match ratio and demonstrate that the designed scheme based on G-JCNC in an A-TWRC has excellent bit error rate performance under an appropriate power match ratio.

  • For the analysis of vibrational energy density and intensity of partitioned complex system structures in medium-to-high frequency ranges, A software based on the Power Flow Analysis(PFA) has been developed for the plate elements. The flexural, longitudinal and shear waves in plates are formulated and the joint element equations for multi-coupled plates are fully developed. Also, the wave transmission approach has been introduced to cover the energy transmission and reflection at the joint plate elements. To confirm the validity of the developed PFA software, the submarine-shaped complex structures are used for the analysis of vibration intensity and energy density.

  • Destination-assisted jamming (DAJ) is usually used to protect confidential information against untrusted relays and eavesdroppers in wireless networks. In this paper, a DAJ-based untrusted relay network with multiple antennas installed is presented. To increase the secrecy, a joint optimization of beamforming and power allocation at the source and destination is studied. A matched-filter precoder is introduced to maximize the cooperative jamming signal by directing cooperative jamming signals toward untrusted relays. Then, based on generalized singular-value decomposition (GSVD), a novel transmitted precoder for confidential signals is devised to align the signal into the subspace corresponding to the confidential transmission channel. To decouple the precoder design and optimal power allocation, an iterative algorithm is proposed to jointly optimize the above parameters. Numerical results validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. Compared with other schemes, the proposed scheme shows significant improvement in terms of security performance.

  • In this paper, we investigate the problem of secure communications in multiple-input-multiple-output interference networks from the perspective of physical layer security. Specifically, the legitimate transmitter-receiver pairs are divided into different categories of active and inactive. To enhance the security performances of active pairs, inactive pairs serve as cooperative jammers and broadcast artificial noises to interfere with the eavesdropper. Besides, active pairs improve their own security by using joint transceivers. The encoding of active pairs and inactive pairs are designed by maximizing the difference of mean-squared errors between active pairs and the eavesdropper. In detail, the transmit precoder matrices of active pairs and inactive pairs are solved according to game theory and linear programming respectively. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has fast convergence speed, and the security performances in different scenarios are effectively improved.

  • The paper presents the main results of computational and experimental optimization of the automatic power control system (AC) of the IBR-2M pulsed reactor in the presence of a high level of oscillatory instability. Optimization of the parameters of the AC made it possible to significantly reduce the influence of random and deterministic oscillations of reactivity on the noise of the pulse energy, as well as to sharply reduce the manifestation of the oscillatory instability of the reactor. As a result, the safety and reliability of operation of the reactor has increased substantially.

  • It is very essential to find out defects and remove them in the insulation at the early stage because the defects in the insulation induce PD which deteriorates the material, resulting in the breakdown. In the real application of high voltage, the interface of the different insulation is the weakest place for both electrical and mechanical aspects. In this paper, characteristics of PD caused by the artificial defects, such as metallic particles, voids and moist fibers, at the interfaces of the cable joint (PJB) were investigated using the specially designed electrode system.

  • Recently, Heterogeneous Network (HetNet) with Coordinated Multi-Point (CoMP) scheme is introduced into Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) systems to improve digital services for User Equipments (UEs), especially for cell-edge UEs. However, Radio Resource Management (RRM), including Resource Block (RB) scheduling and Power Allocation (PA), in this scenario becomes challenging, due to the intercell cooperation. In this paper, we investigate the RRM problem for downlink transmission of HetNet system with Joint Processing (JP) CoMP (both joint transmission and dynamic cell selection schemes), aiming at maximizing weighted sum data rate under the constraints of both transmission power and backhaul capacity. First, joint RB scheduling and PA problem is formulated as a constrained Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) which is NP-hard. To simplify the formulation problem, we decompose it into two problems of RB scheduling and PA. For RB scheduling, we propose an algorithm with less computational complexity to achieve a suboptimal solution. Then, according to the obtained scheduling results, we present an iterative Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) method to solve the PA problem. Extensive simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithms. Two kinds of JP CoMP schemes are compared with a non-CoMP greedy scheme (max capacity scheme). Simulation results prove that the CoMP schemes with the proposed RRM algorithms dramatically enhance data rate of cell-edge UEs, thereby improving UEs' fairness of data rate. Also, it is shown that the proposed PA algorithms can decrease power consumption of transmission antennas without loss of transmission performance.

  • Passive control may not provide enough damping for a stay cable since the control devices are often restricted to a low location level. In order to enhance control performance of conventional passive dampers, a new type of damper integrated with a rotary electromagnetic damper providing variable damping force and a flywheel serving as an inertial mass, called the rotary electromagnetic inertial mass damper (REIMD), is presented for suppressing the cable vibrations in this paper. The mechanical model of the REIMD is theoretically derived according to generation mechanisms of the damping force and the inertial force, and further validated by performance tests. General dynamic characteristics of an idealized taut cable with a REIMD installed close to the cable end are theoretically investigated, and parametric analysis are then conducted to investigate the effects of inertial mass and damping coefficient on vibration control performance. Finally, vibration control tests on a scaled cable model with a REIMD are performed to further verify mitigation performance through the first two modal additional damping ratios of the cable. Both the theoretical and experimental results show that control performance of the cable with the REIMD are much better than those of conventional passive viscous dampers, which mainly attributes to the increment of the damper displacement due to the inertial mass induced negative stiffness effects of the REIMD. Moreover, it is concluded that both inertial mass and damping coefficient of an optimum REIMD will decrease with the increase of the mode order of the cable, and oversize inertial mass may lead to negative effect on the control performance.
