  • Recently, developments of engineering technology are too fast change to educate the students in the college of engineering. The lag between the innovation of the technology and the education of the college of engineering becomes larger and larger. In this situation, the appropriate education update system is needed to change the curricula for the updated engineering education. In this paper, the job analysis method which is used in the technical service area is transformed to design the curriculum of the general higher education area. The job analysis method which is used in the technical service area derives the competence too detail and complex to used in the higher education area. for the higher education area, the social activity analysis of the alumni is needed to extract the representative jobs of the area. Also using this representative jobs, the job analysis and competence derivation is conducted. If needed, the regular expert meeting is held to converge the job-site opinions of the graduate and industry people. This curriculum changing process is provided as a part of the circular self-improve education system of the Electrical Engineering of the MyongJi University.

  • Korea's labor productivity in construction sites is dependent on experience and act in accordance with the human element of the construction workers. In order to increase the work productivity of the construction site that requires a strategic management to potentially hindrance factors of labor productivity. However, without considering the potential problems, management of labor productivity in prior studies is focused only on the immediate problems. The purpose of this study is to compare the site-specific analysis of labor productivity impediments using easy IPA to identify potential causes. As a result of the analysis was to identify the realistic problems of job insecurity and poor working conditions as well as economic problems. It is expected that it is possible to provide the basic data to strategy suggestions for long-term labor productivity improvement of the construction site.

Development of exchange period program for chemical cartridge feasible in the work spot (1) - Experiment of estimated breakthrough time using discarded cartridges (작업장에서 사용 가능한 방독마스크 정화통 교체주기 프로그램의 개발(I) - 폐정화통을 이용한 파과시간 예측 실험)

  • Many researches for service-life of chemical cartridges of respirators have been performed in many countries. On the result of these researches a few softwares programs were eventually developed to be used. In spite of that, it is difficult to apply these researches and softwares practically in the work spot because of too many factors that influence on service-life of chemical cartridges. This study was the first of two conducted for the purpose of developing program for estimating exchange period or service-life of chemical cartridges available feasibly in the workplaces. Collecting plan of cartridges discarded after use is in principle that three cartridges from three workers at a time, three steps of 1/2 exchange time due to smelling, just routine exchange time and 1.2 to 1.3 expanded time of routine exchange, total nine cartridges are collected in the same job site. 33 cartridges for organic vapor were collected in paint spray process of ship yard and paint factory, and 6 cartridges for acid were collected in plating process. These cartridges were analysed the remaining breakthrough time in 3M Innovation Center. Challenge vapor and breakthrough concentration were complied with Korean regulation for chemical cartridge respirators. Estimated breakthrough time was determined from previously used time plus breakthrough time for the remaining. Exchange period of cartridge would be the shortest time among three estimated breakthrough times. On the result breakthrough time for organic vapor was found to be relatively easily estimated, but that for acid aerosol or vapor was difficult to be confident. Even though this method was difficult to be precisely predicted exchange period of cartridge, it could be an alternative program practically available in the job site.

Comparative Analysis on the Impact of Construction Site Working Conditions on Worker Satisfaction - Regarding the Korean and Korean-Chinese Workers - (건설현장 근로조건이 근로자의 직무만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 비교 분석 - 한국인과 조선족 근로자를 대상으로 -)

  • This research focuses on comparing the impact that working conditions have on the job satisfaction of Korean and Chinese-Korean construction workers. The data shows that factors such as the quality of wages, food catering, and leisure facilities showed a positive correlation on the workers' satisfaction. Further comparative analysis showed differences between the effect these factors have on the satisfaction of Korean workers and Chinese-Korean workers, who occupy the highest portion of the foreign workforce in Korea. The analysis concluded that to the Chinese-Korean workers, wage had the strongest impact on their satisfaction over other factors, whereas this difference was not present in the Korean workers. The results of this study highlighting these differences between the worker groups can contribute to developing the efficiency of the management of construction sites in Korea.

The Problem and Solution Associated with Increasing Number of Ophthalmic Optics Student (안경광학과 입학정원의 증가에 따른 문제점과 해결방안)

  • Purpose: We have studied the problems associated with increased number of ophthalmic optics students and its effects on the supply and demand of optician. Methods: We collected data from Education Statistics, a white paper of Minister for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, academyinfo web site and University (College) web site. Results: We forecasted an estimate for supply and demand of optician using the entrance number of ophthalmic optics. Conclusions: The numbers of produced optician are in excessive supply. The excessive supply of optician can contribute towards worsening working conditions and lower job satisfaction of an optician. Therefore this can result infrequent turn over of jobs within the same field and migration into the different field of areas. To solve these problems, we will need to act with the manpower policy of government by gathering the voices of the related optician agencies. Then expansion of job domain, improvement of quality level, the improvement of the working conditions for optician can be accomplished by the unification of university system and reduction of entrance numbers for department of ophthalmic optics.

Measurement for Coefficient of Thermal Expansion of Concretes Made with Recycled Concrete Aggregates (재생골재를 함유한 콘크리트의 열팽창계수 측정)

  • PURPOSES : This study was performed to determine a systematic approach for measuring the coefficient of thermal expansion (COTE) of concrete specimens. This approach includes the initial calibration of measurement equipment. Test variables include coarse aggregate types such as natural aggregate, job-site produced recycled concrete aggregate, and recycled aggregate processed from an intermediate waste treatment company. METHODS : First, two cylindrical SUS-304 specimens with a known COTE value of $17.3{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$. were used as reference specimens for the calibration of each measurement system. The well-known AASHTO TP-60 COTE apparatus for concrete measurement was utilized in this study. Four different measurement apparatuses were used with each LVDT installed and a calibration value was determined using each measurement apparatus. RESULTS : In the initial experimental stage, calibration values for each measurement apparatus were assumed to be almost identical. However, using the SUS-304 samples as a reference, the calibration values for the four different measurement apparatuses were found to range from 3.49 to $8.86{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$. Using different adjusted values for each measurement apparatuses, COTE values for the three different concrete specimens were obtained. The COTE value of concrete made with natural coarse aggregate was $9.91{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$, that of job-site produced recycled coarse aggregate was $10.45{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$, and that of recycled aggregate processed from the intermediate waste treatment company was $10.82{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$. CONCLUSIONS : We observed that the COTE value of concrete made from recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) was higher than that of concrete made from natural coarse aggregate. This difference is due to the fact that the total volumetric mortar proportion in the RCA mix is higher than that in the concrete mix made with natural coarse aggregate.

  • On the Seoul Metropolitan Subway Construction of No. 3, 4 Line, the total length is 57 Km and it is now undergoing almost 55% progress. The working method is classified into Open Cut of 70% and the rest of 30% tunnelling method in the 48 job site. Above tunnelling method is execute by American Steel Support System and the rest of 10 job site carried out by New Austria Tunnelling Method. This paper describes Blasting Standardizations works on the above Tunnelling ' Open Cut Method under big slogan, first safety, second execution. As a superintendent, I strived standardization of works with Better powder, Better Drills ' Better Pattern. Geological structure of Seoul area is composed by Jurassic Granite and also the above rockgroup are over burden by Alluviums as a Unconformity. First of all, I carried out the standard amount of powder and burden through experimental standard blasting by each powder as following Blasting works in the subway construction is surrounding shop Building, under pass the city river and also under pass highest building basement floor. I made allowable Blasting Vibration Value by West-Germany Vornorm DIN 4150, Teil 3 and should measure each blasting works as fellows all of powder is used basically Low-Gravity and Low Velocity such as Slurry, Ammonium Nitrate ' Finex I, II. for Smooth Blasting Instead of Gelatin Dynamite. Electric Detonation Cap is used basically M/S Delay Cup instead of Electric delay ' Simultaneous cap. I applied following formula V=KW3/4 $D^{-2}$ V=Particle Velocity (Cm/sec) K=Ginh Huh's Value W=Delay Charge (Kg) D=Distance(m) In the Open Cut, within 1m distance from H-pile I made to use the Concrete breaker, as following V=7W/$^{0.5}$V/$^{-1.75}$ On the Concentrate Building area, I advise to use Light class drill ø36m Bit and advance 1.1m per round blasting the three boom jumbo drill over ø45mm used only suburb of city.e Light class drill ø36m Bit and advance 1.1m per round blasting the three boom jumbo drill over ø45mm used only suburb of city.

  • The main objective of this study was found to be empirically seeing whether on-site training for students in the field of education and various programs in the field of SMEs michyeotneun any impact on production duties. Results of sub-areas of education and training educational experience, training motivation, training, experience, demographic characteristics and performance of education and training, and because there is a close correlation as sub-areas of business productivity, industrial welfare, governance, education, the period of increased productivity by properly adjusting the sub-variables of education and training it can maximize the educational experience of the work. This study provides the policy implications and implications for the future so that the unemployed(including unemployed youth) re-employment training and on-site training is satisfactory to shine and develop more good quality programs.

  • Construction work is a labor-intensive industry, which is required systematic production activities using materials, manpower, and equipment. Among them, manpower resources play a very important role in achieving efficiently production in the organization. Construction work is highly dependent on construction craft workers, and the level of proficiency can be directly related to the construction productivity and quality. However, a rapidly aging construction craft workers in Korea, is being replaced by a foreign construction craft workers because of advoidance of new laborers in the construction site. In the future, if the continuous development and management of construction manpower is not made properly, it may be lead to adverse effects such as setbacks in production, delayed completion, faulty construction, industrial disasters, and decreased productivity in construction site. In this study, it was proposed four important factors for work capacity management of construction craft workers. These were ensuring of physical strength through the health management of construction craft workers, securing of proficiency through career management, ensuring of productivity through work capacity and establing of informatization through work capacity management. By introducing a systematic system, it is possible to improve construction craft workers' professionalism, enhancing the level of welfare, reflecting the realities of labor costs, increasing the quantitative and qualitative levels of construction craft workers, Futhermore it was demanded the continued interest and policy support for the realization of effective management of construction craft workers.

Searching information on online questions by Korean dental hygienists: Case report (온라인 질문에 나타난 치과위생사의 정보요구도: 증례보고)

  • Online data can be explored for topics browsed by an unspecified population to detect professional information demands more quickly. The purpose of this study was to collect and analyze online questionnaires in order to find information required by dental hygienists. We analyzed the frequency of posting words after isolating nouns from questions of the Korean Dental Hygienists Association homepage's Q & A section, the Naver Knowledge-iN service, and a dental hygienists' online meeting site in Naver. We found that queries of the Korean Dental Hygienists Association's homepage were concentrated on education renewal and license notification. The queries about dental hygienists in the Naver Knowledge-iN service used words related to job or career choice, and the queries of the dental hygienist-affiliated site had many words related to dental practice, dental work, and turnover. This study showed that the information needs of unspecified dental hygienists varied depending on the online environment such as homepage, blog, and information service.
