  • This study aimed to compare and analyze librarian teacher evaluation index from evaluation of teachers' competency development with the the topics of information utilization education. To this end, LDA topic modeling was conducted by collecting papers related to information utilization education published in four major journals in the field of literature and information from 1995 to May 2022. As a result of topic modeling, it can be seen that information utilization education (T10) was the most actively discussed at 12.0% of the 20 topics, followed by library utilization classes (T2) 10.4% and user service (T3) 8.8%.On the other hand, 3.3% of reading discussion (T7), 2.9% of reading education (T19), 2.1% of manpower management (T13), and 2.1% of librarian teacher job satisfaction (T17) showed the lowest distributions 3.3%, 2.9%, 2.1%, and 2.1%, respectively. In addition, although librarian teacher's class model development (T1) and curriculum development (T20) are essential processes for collaborative classes and information utilization education, they were not reflected in the current teacher competency development evaluation index. Therefore, this study proposed that 'instructional model and curriculum development' indicator should be added on 'training and support classes' factors in the Librarian Teacher Evaluation Index in Teachers' Competency Development Evaluation for further evaluation.

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of emotional labor level on the level of job satisfaction and library information service provision in public libraries. The research model used emotional labor levels as an independent variable; job satisfaction and level of library information service provision as a dependent variable; and organizational culture as a control factor. The data were collected randomly from 220 librarians of public libraries in Seoul by distributing and collecting internet surveys. Reliability analysis, correlation coefficient analysis, multiple regression analysis, and regression analysis were performed using the SPSS 18.0 program. The statistic hypothesis test results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, public library librarians did not like to express their emotions to users, trying to express their emotions more positively than what they were actually feeling. Second, although librarians experience emotional labors, they feel a sense of achievement when undertaking their tasks and develop pride and happiness in their work. As librarians perceive their work professional, they overcome emotional labors, and have pride in their work. Third, although librarians experience emotional labors, a reasonable job evaluation with goals, and their relationships with colleagues would lead to accomplishment in their work. In addition, although the evaluation of employees is focused on performance, librarians improve their service if library users are satisfied with their service and the services are provided adequately.

As an instrument, self-reported questionnaires were sent to 1,251 full-time Korean female librarians throughout the country with regular librarian's certificate, currently engaging in public, college or university, and special libraries. Based on the data gathered, the interrelationship between their career pattern inclination and its influential factors were examined through hypothesis testing. Major findings of the survey are outlined in the following: 1). Female librarians' career patterns were classified into five categories with the group represented as Categories-2 (single; wishes to continue working after marriage; places an emphasis on the sense of occupational accomplishment and social prestige) accounted for the highest proportion$(33.4\%)$. 2). The result of the hypothesis testing revealed that there is no significant relationship statistically between social factors(parents' socio-economic status, etc.) and female librarians' career patterns. So the hypothesis concerning social factors were rejected. 3). In psychological factors(job satisfaction ; self-concept sex role attitude ; role conflict ; and achievement motivation), all except for self-concept were shown to be relevant with female librarians' stable career pattern. So the hypotheses concerning psychological factors were supported. 4). According to the result of multiple discriminant analysis conducted between the above four statistically significant psychological factors and career patterns, the most influential factor for female librarians' career patterns was job satisfaction and sex role.
