The Effects of Jigsaw II Expert Groupings on Studentis Knowledge, Inquiry Ability and Attitudes at Elementary School Science Study (전문가집단을 활용한 Jigsaw II 협동학습이 과학지식, 탐구능력 및 학습태도에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently, introduced open education, there are some models applied several cooperative teaming, but there is no case in applied Jigsaw Ⅱ. So this research is selected objects which are 147 students in the fifth grade in 1999' school year and 143 students in 2000's on Yongwon elementary school. It makes share a partial responsibility for planner, leader, investigator, helper, writer and reporter in the small groups, and apply the Jigsaw Ⅱ model. Qualitative and quantitative analyses show that they have effects of Jigsaw Ⅱ cooperative Learning on Student's knowledge, inquiry ability and attitudes on Elementary School Science Study. The final results are following. The significance of Knowledge has .02 in 1999 and .01 in 2000. Testification of Inquiry ability has 1.75 in 1999 and 2.25 in 2000. The significance of Attitudes has .03 in 1999 and .00 in 2000. Research that has emerged from the cooperative teaming has led us to better understandings of multi purposed roles, interactions, and communities that arise when students work together to team science. Each of students can also cooperative as co-builders, working as equal participants to create a product that is better than that while would have built by either individual alone. Upon asking their intention, cooperative loaming shows more participation.

Effect of Cooperative Learning Applying Jigsaw Model in Simulation-Based Infection Control Education on Perception of Infection Control, Intrinsic Motive and Learning Satisfaction (시뮬레이션기반 감염관리교육에서 직소(Jigsaw)모형을 응용한 협동학습이 감염관리 인식도, 내적동기, 학습만족도에 미치는 효과)

  • This study has the purpose to evaluate the effects of cooperative learning applying Jigsaw model in simulation based infection control education by comparing perception of infection control, intrinsic motive and learning satisfaction, 54 first-year health related students. It is composed of 27 students of the experimental group and 27 students of the control group. In order to evaluate the homogeneity between the two groups, it surveyed in advance perception of infection control, intrinsic motive and learning satisfaction. There was no significant difference between the two groups, The education program composed cooperative learning applying Jigsaw Model, simulation practice and debriefing to the experimental group was performed twice for 2 weeks and lecture and skill training, simulation practice and debriefing were performed to the control group. After two-week education, perception of infection control, intrinsic motive and learning satisfaction of the participants the research were surveyed. As a result of this study, the Jigsow Model indicated the perception of infection control and learning satisfaction experimental group was significantly high in statistic. Based on this research result, I suggests that utilization of cooperative learning applying the Jigsaw Model as a strategy to improve the scholatic achievement and learning satisfaction of students in the variable simulation based education.

  • Prior research in R8ED innovation in Korea has been centered around the 'three-stage development model,' which hypothesizes that the Korean innovation process goes from the introduction (of foreign technology) stage, through assimilation stage to the final modification stage. As Korean economy shifts from traditional industry-led development to innovation-centric development, such an approach loses sight of the whole picture. The current study argues that a new framework is required for adequate analysis on newly arising innovative patterns in Korea, emphasizing source technology development and technology leader strategy. For this purpose, we propose the 'Jigsaw Puzzle Model' of technology development, which is then verified by an in-depth analysis on the innovation processes of 3 representative IT products of Korea, DRAM, TH LCD, and CDMA. The model suggests that Korean innovation model is a dynamic, efficient amalgamation of foreign-acquired and dependent technologies, based on internally accumulated technological resources. The model explains better how Korean firms are achieving a rapid catch-up of technological gaps with advanced nations and are able to transfer from the technology follower to the leader position.

A Web-based Cooperative Learning System using Extended TGT Model (확장된 TGT 모델을 이용한 웹기반 협동학습 시스템)

  • As web technology and educational environments are in rapid progress, web-based cooperative learning systems have gained a lot of interests. Recently some studies have attempted to combine a learning system and simple games that enable learners to actively participate and have high interests in learning. These studies are based on TGT model, a cooperative learning model using games, and mostly remain system design levels. A few implemented systems have many problems because they focus only on pure TGT model. To solve these problems, this paper builds a extended TGT model and a new web-based cooperative learning system using this new model. The extended part contains ideas such as expert learning from Jigsaw II model, improvement scores from STAD model and making game problems by learners. A system using pure TGT model and a suggested system are implemented and used by two classes of middle school students to evaluate our system. The experimental results show that our system outperforms the other system.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a instructive strategy model of cooperative learning for practical class in technical high school. To achieve this purpose, this study has conducted related literature investigation and interviewed with professionals for reconstruction of practice contents. As a result, 15 steps instructional strategy model of cooperative learning was designed and this model based on traditional 4 steps model, Jigsaw and STAD model which have been verified as effect. To complete the final project, all the team members must cooperate themselves and tutor their peers with learning guides which are constructed as a modular system. This instructional strategy model which is correlated with modular instruction, peer tutoring and cooperative learning is expected to enhance students' school work of psychomotor domain as well as cognitive domain and affective domain.

  • The developers of mobile agent systems are considering integrating the system into the web and the developers of web servers are also considering supporting mobile agents in the future. But they are not clearly suggesting the relationship between web programming which has basically client/server architecture and mobile agent programming which is based on autonomous code mobility. In this paper, firstly, we clarify the method for integrating mobile agent programming into web programming by suggesting the model for mobile agent programming on the web. Secondly, by developing APIs for Java which is widely used for both web programming and mobile agent programming, we made it possible for programmers to use them for programming mobile agent on the web. Thirdly, we show the usefulness of the proposed model by adding and testing modules for execution environment of mobile agents on W3C's Java based web server, Jigsaw.

A Study on the Development and Evaluation of a Collaborative Problem-Solving Learning Model for Nursing Students

  • This study developed and evaluated a learning model to improve collaborative problem-solving skills for nursing students taking physiology courses. This one-group pretest-posttest design used the jigsaw cooperative learning method on 30 nursing students from one local university. We analyzed the effect of a cooperative problem- solving learning model using SPSS 21.0 to compare changes in the students' collaborative self-efficacy, problem-solving abilities, and team-member exchange. As a result, the participants showed significant increases in collaborative self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, and team-member exchange after experiencing cooperative problem- solving learning model. Therefore, we will help nursing students improve their communication skills by enhancing their collaborative self-efficacy and help them solve problems effectively in conflict situations.

Development of a Discussion-Centered Teaching and Learning Model (토의 중심 교수학습 모형 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a discussion-centered teaching and learning model for nurturing creative and convergence talents. Regarding the research method, a draft model on discussion-centered teaching and learning was devised, and the model was completed through expert validation. The final draft was revised and supplemented by verifying how valid the model was when applied in class by using the derived final draft. Compared with the draft on discussion-centered teaching and learning model, the final model focused on text-reading emphasis, methods of questioning, and question generation strategies, excluding jigsaw discussions. The discussion-centered teaching and learning model developed in this study is expected to help instructors foster creative and convergence talents. Three suggestions have been provided to effectively apply this model to the field. First, an attitude of listening and respect is required during a discussion. Second, a plan should be considered on how to induce active participation of learners participating in the discussion. Third, the importance of managing discussion time was emphasized.
