Chattering in cutting operations are usually a cumbersome part of the manufacturing process in mechanical. Particular, machining performance such as that of the boring process is limited by cutting condition at the movable components. Among various sources of chatter vibration, detrimental point in cutting condition is found a mechanical condition on overhang. It limits cutting speed, depth, surface roughness and tool wear failure as result because the all properties are varying with the metal removal process. In this case, we have to observe the resonance frequencies of a boring bar for continuous cutting. In the established research, boring bar vibration of cutting system has been measured with the aid of accelerometer. However, the inherent parameters of internal turning operations are severely limit for the real time monitoring on accelerometers. At this point, this paper is proposed other method for real time monitoring during continuous cutting with optical fiber at the inside of boring bar. This method has been used a plastic fiber in the special jig on boring bar by based on experimental modal analysis. In this study, improvement of monitoring system on continuous internal cutting was attempted using optical fiber sensor of inside type because usually chattering is investigated experimentally measuring the variation in chip thickness. It is demonstrated that the optical fiber sensor is possibility to measure of chattering with real time in boring process.

A tragic disaster happened by capsizing O-Ryong 501 trawler at Western Bering Sea in 1st, Dec. 2014. The disaster was caused by the severe weather and the long deferred escape from the storm in fully developed high sea. Lots of sea water from poop deck rushed into the fish ponder with fishes all together after hauling net and then remove the fishes from codend. The vessel became to incline to the one side caused by the weight and the free surface effect of flood sea waters and fishes at initial stage. In spite of crews all effort to discharge the waters, but the work was not achieved successfully. For the worse thing, the order of abandon ship was issued too late. After all, the ship capsized and sank, then almost crews became to the victims of the casualty including captain. In this paper, author carried out restrictively the calculation of dynamic factors influenced on the disaster including the weather condition and effects of the flood sea waters, and found out that the most important causes of the disaster were the decrease of stabilities, GM was decreased from 0.9m to 0.08 m, and the high waves which led to the vessel disaster.

There are many unbalanced models such as helicopter's rotor blades, small-sized precision motor in industrial applications. In the real products, their gravity center usually does not accord with the desired gravity center. If the deviation is large between them, it can be a major cause of vibration and noise as the part of model rotate. Therefore the gravity center in the rotational parts should be controlled properly because of static and dynamic balancing of the parts. In the research, the rotor blade of unmanned helicopter has been selected to obtain the high quality of balancing. In order to achieve the purpose, measuring system has been developed. In the system applied principle is three point weighting method, which is one of the Multiple-point Weighting Method. It has circle fitting for compensation of machining error, after measuring the values. From this study, the results showed that the proposed measurement procedure gives reliable and precise gravity center.

This paper presents a vision based object width measurement method and its application where the light sectioning method is employed. The target object for measurement is a tread, which is the most outside component of an automobile tire. The entire system applying the measurement method consists of two processes, i.e. a calibration process and a detection process. The calibration process is to identify the relationships between a camera plane and a laser plane, and to estimate a camera lens distortion parameters. As the process requires a test pattern, namely a jig, which is elaborately manufactured. In the detection process, first of all, the region that a laser light illuminates is extracted by applying an adaptive thresholding technique where the distribution of the pixel brightness is considered to decide the optimal threshold. Then, a thinning algorithm is applied to the region so that the ends and the shoulders of a tread are detected. Finally, the tread width and the shoulder width are computed using the homography and the distortion coefficients obtained by the calibration process.

The door-lock switch is one of the most important part in the front-load washer. As an safety system, it keeps the door locked while the front-load washer or the dish washer is working and generating heat and spin. The door of front-load washer needs the emotionality as well as the safety because the consumers always get feels when using it. In this paper, We study about emotional factors in the door of front-load washer and analyze the difference of emotionality as the structure of the door-lock switch changed. For this, we analyze the force graph by using the software and the jig which can measure the force while the door is opened or closed.

This paper proposes a technological solution for improving the recognition direction of target objects for automatic vision inspection by machine vision. This paper proposes a technological solution for improving the recognition direction of target objects for automatic vision inspection by machine vision. This enables the automatic machine vision inspection to detect the image of the inspection object regardless of the position and orientation of the object, eliminating the need for a separate inspection jig and improving the automation level of the inspection process. This study develops the technology and method that can be applied to the wire harness manufacturing process as the inspection object and present the result of real system. The results of the system implementation was evaluated by the accredited institution. This includes successful measurement in the accuracy, detection recognition, reproducibility and positioning success rate, and achievement the goal in ten kinds of color discrimination ability, inspection time within one second and four automatic mode setting, etc.

In this paper, the performance analysis and the experiment of the brake system using the small piezoelectric-hydraulic pump were performed. Initially, the 3-D modeling of the brake load components was performed for the construction of the brake system. Subsequently, modeling using the commercial program AMESim was performed. A floating caliper model was used as a load for modeling the brake system. Through the AMESim simulation, load pressure, check valve displacement and flow rate under no load state were calculated, and performance analysis and changes in dynamic characteristics were confirmed by adding brake load. A jig for use in fixing the brake load during performance test was manufactured. The flow rate was assessed under no load condition and load pressure formation experiments were performed and compared with simulation results. Experimental results revealed the maximum load pressure as about 73bar at 130Hz and the maximum flow rate as about 203cc/min at 145Hz, which satisfied the requirement of small- and medium-sized UAV braking system. In addition, simulation results revealed that the load pressure and discharge flow rate were within 6% and 5%, respectively. Apparently, the modeling is expected to be effective for brake performance analysis.

In this paper, we present an inertial sensor-based gait distance measurement system using accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer. To minimize offset and gain error of inertial sensors, we performed the calibration using the self-made calibration jig with 9 degrees of freedom. For measuring accurate gait distance, we used gradient descent algorithm to remove gravity error and used analysis of gait pattern to remove drift error. Finally, we measured a gait distance by double-integration of the error-removed acceleration data. To evaluate the performance of our system, we walked 10m in a straight line indoors to observe the improvement of removing error which compared un-calibrated to calibrated data. Also, the gait distance measured by the system was compared to the measurement of the Vicon motion capture system. The evaluation resulted in the improvement of $31.4{\pm}14.38%$(mean${\pm}$S.D.), $78.64{\pm}10.84%$ and $69.71{\pm}26.25%$ for x, y and z axis, respectively when walked in a straight line, and a root mean square error of 0.10m, 0.16m, and 0.12m for x, y and z axis, respectively when compared to the Vicon motion capture system.

This work presents the design and measured results of the single channel automotive radar system for 76.5~77 GHz long range FMCW radar applications. The transmitter uses a commercial GaAs monolithic microwave integrated circuit(MMIC) and the receiver uses the down converter designed using 65 nm CMOS process. The output power of the transmitter is 10 dBm. The down converter chip can operate at low LO power as -8 dBm which is easily supplied from the transmitter output using a coupled line coupler. All MMICs are mounted on an aluminum jig which embeds the WR-10 waveguide. A microstrip to waveguide transition is designed to feed the embedded waveguide and finally high gain horn antennas. The overall size of the fabricated radar system is $80mm{\times}61mm{\times}21mm$. The radar system achieved an output power of 10 dBm, phase noise of -94 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset and a conversion gain of 12 dB.
