In Italy, numerous jewelry ornaments have been actively manufactured from long time ago, since Italian has been highly interested in jewelry from the ancient limes, therefor jewelry industry of Italy has been improved at an alarming pace with latest cutting-edge technology through their highly-talented artistic sense and workmanship of precious metals that have been inherited without any interruption based on the traditional history and culture. One out of five ornaments in the whole world is made in Italy, so Italy is the biggest maker to manufacture ornament made of gold, silver and precious stone recording more than 70 billion dollar of annual sales. The diversified composite factors-handmade oriented ornaments with artistic concept based on their inherited craftsmanship from generation to generation and refinedly and sensationally harmonized design -have resulted in development and mass manufacturing for ornaments. Now days the jewelry maker of Italy have actively introduced improved management know-how and international approach for marketing and made a strenuous effort to newly technology and creative design through close relationship with designers.

Except for traditional industrial art and history of design development, Korea jewelry industry before 1980's, had little meaning in the aspect of marketing and business. Domestic jewelry market which have changed from the value of goods to value of ornaments, faced important transition point for jewelry industry by the chance of in Asian Game held in 1986, and money of overseas traveler after 1980s. The rapidly-grown Jewelry field by the introduction of detail casting method to make it possible mass-production of the products before 1990's, began to change into new system, with introducing CAD/CAM after 1990's. Jewelry industry has changed from manual work called handmade to the detail casting industry based on master for mass-production. For this, the development of master, with the design development, have been suggested as important task to jewelry industry firms, and by the introduction of CAD/CAM, the diversification of design and master development has been made up. In this study, we would try to find out current status of domestic jewelry field and to understand CAD/CAM, and advantage of CAD/CAM, and through this, suggest good solution to precipitate domestic jewelry market.

The purpose of the study is to understand the symbolic meaning of jewelry. Among various characteristics of symbols, the symbolic meaning represents the correlation between meanings. Wearing jewelry is an instinctive action that can be witnessed from ancient civilizations. Man used jewelry for various purposes, as an ornament, an amulet, a symbol of wealth or power or as a token of love. In this study, I have researched the symbolic meaning of jewelry in its historic background focusing on rings that show the strongest symbolic characteristic among jewelries. Whereas the symbolic meaning of jewelry was strongly accentuated in the ancient and medieval times, it was gradually weakened in the modern time. Also, while jewelry in the ancient and medieval times showed commonness and universality, jewelry in modern time expressed individuality. Although the meaning of jewelry changed progressively by interacting with the external environment, jewelry has always roused sense and symbolism from our hearts and has acted as a means to express ideas and emotions of human beings.

Art Nouveau started from the purpose of making art young by reforming art. Rising in revolt against historical style imitation, Art Nouveau was a movement that demanded modern and trend-fitting styles which were embracing general revolution of life and surrounding environment. In jewelry, new styles were tried to be constructed too, breaking from previous styles. Together with new trial of materials, fine jewelry that technical skills of master craftsmen were emphasized on were shown. Styles of Art Nouveau had been diversely developed, fitting to culture of each country in the whole Europe. They were the bases of styles after the 20th century. Jewelry after Art Nouveau repeated development by being divided into industrial and artistic jewelry. They have influenced on a lot of development until modern times. Art Nouveau led jewelry to the establishment of artistic worth, exceeding the worth of goods. There is a difference between aesthetic jewelry expressed through diverse formativeness of Art Nouveau and modern jewelry designs centered on simple precious jewelry which is biased toward productivity and functionality. Modern times are the times of culture and art that are laying stress on personality and ego-expression and pursue creative and ingenious designs. So, various color expression of Art Nouveau and jewelry styles of diverse materials and motives which were expressed through time period and thought will become examples in leading new design development and design flows of modern jewelry.

It was developed exporting jewelry products so that export those goods by industrial-educational corporation. I concluded an agreement with Hyun-dai co. Ltd, known as a specialist of the cultural goods producing company. By differentiation of the designs for expressing cultural images of korea, we tried to make competitive goods so that it can give value-added profits to the company. And we tried to settle specialization, securing specialty, outsourcing and utilize the spearheaded instrument Jewel CAD, R/P System. Also we tried to contribute to achieve the aims that cost down, task cooperating, systematization by reporting those things to the jewelry business world.

The Jewelry-relation industry is being placed in the crises which are serious with depression of domestic market, design development and a major force absence also high labor cost charge. The consumers have the value of the price preparation maximum and product differentiation which they want. The Jewelry CAD and RP equipment shorten cost of production enterprise which depended hand-metal work provided for the various design and a rapid new product. But until now, it was necessary to the original work of best condition casting vacuum cycle as difficult with direct casting of synthetic resin from RP equipment. I intend to imply significance about through the CAD and RP equipment application result with it analyses, after jewelry CAD and RP work applicable to direct casting will be possible and able to through the casting vacuum cycle produce the product which is suitable in the original production. Through the this paper jewelry secures a quality improvement of the product and discrimination characteristic being various competitive power of design and provide a new base in product production.

This is the study on the preference of men's jewelry in Korea and China. It started to change and develop the market of modern men's jewelry, which is increasingly growing. The men's jewelry market, in Korea, has developed as small market as part of women's, and since 2006, it has started to grow as men's jewelry. However, it is still treated only by some brands. It is a time when innovation is needed because design diversity is weak. The men's jewelry market in China is rapidly developing under the influence of young emerging rich people. However, as in Korea, a research on the design of men's jewelry is insufficient, so it is urgent to study the preference for men's jewelry. Each survey was conducted on a the tie-pin and cufflinks as the most representative men's jewelry in Korea and China. As a result, both countries were not satisfied with the designs currently being sold. In Korea, the popularity of the tie-pin and the cufflinks is made to some extent, and customizing to consumer and innovative development are required. And, in China, the popularity of the tie-pin and the cufflinks made it possible to expect the growth of the men's jewelry market.

Prior to the introduction of automated systems such as jewelry CAD and CAM, the jewelry manufacturing industry had many originals made by hand. However, after the introduction of the automated system, original craftsmen with high technology have disappeared, and computer designers and 3D printing print engineers are taking their place. The introduction of automated systems such as CAD and CAM in the existing hand-made production line has resulted in diversification of designs and cutting-edge and specialization of jewelry manufacturing. In the domestic jewelry industry, the dependence of automation systems such as CAD and CAM in the manufacturing process continues to increase, and the situation is taking up more and more parts in the jewelry design curriculum of universities. From these results, the CAD/CAM automation system field in the jewelry manufacturing industry becomes an essential and important field in the future.

The master pattern manufacturing process is one of the most important processes in jewelry industry because the process takes 20% of total jewelry manufacturing costs. The previous jewelry manufacturing process has many steps of "rough design${\leftrightarro}$ detailed drawing${\leftrightarro}$ wax pattern manufacturing ${\leftrightarro}$ lime soda flask mold manufacturing ${\leftrightarro}$ silver master pattern manufacturing ${\leftrightarro}$ mass production of wax pattern ${\leftrightarro}$ investment casting process ${\leftrightarro}$ final jewelry product." A novel process that reduces processing steps by using a rapid prototyping system (RP) has been suggested. The process is "3D CAD design ${\leftrightarro}$ DuraForm mold manufacturing by RP ${\leftrightarro}$ manufacturing master pattern by low melting alloy ${\leftrightarro}$ mass production of wax pattern ${\leftrightarro}$ investment casting process${\leftrightarro}$ final jewelry product." Molds are made with DuraForm powder, of which melting temperature is 19$0^{\circ}C$, by a selective laster sintering type RP. An alloy of Pb-Sn-Bi-Cd, of which melting temperature is $70^{\circ}C$, is casted in the DuraForm molds. Spheres and rings of diameter 20 mm are made by this process. The dimension deformation rate is less than 2%, and the post processing of the castings is convenient. The casting made by the suggested process can be used as a master pattern of jewelry products.of jewelry products.

This thesis examined the characteristics of constructivism that brought about expanded expression of modern jewelry, and also organized how the constructivism was utilized for jewelry. The objective of this study is to examine the attempts of new materials based on constructivism and various expression styles, and also to understand the concept of constructivism developed into an element of complex formative expression. For this, this study organized the characteristics of constructivism that was initially expanded from Bau Haus in the aspect of expression through the composition of material and space, and also analyzed the jewelry artists' methods and attempts to express various materials. As a result, the constructivism showed the expansion of the formativeness of jewelry in the formative aspect of steric expression and in-depth concept through the composition of architectural pattern, visualization of space, and use of other materials, which becomes an example of basic formative element of modern jewelry design. However, it is limited to the material formative element of constructivism, so the expansion of design would be needed. Thus, there should be more researches on the expansion of various jewelry designs that could express the philosophy of constructivism.
