  • Navigation system or way finding in Wearable computer help disabled and impaired persons and it is impossible to be safe and efficient for drivers as well as pedestrian. Wearable computing situation must be multi-tasking simultaneously and users need minimal attention. In this paper, we used virtual environment as real way-finding similarly. The direction cues of navigation system are investigated as visual only, visual & auditory, and visual & speech. In the paper, the trial demonstrates the difference of performance in detection of directing and performance of motor and subjective satisfaction of user.

  • A new optical-resistive voltage divider, which consists of light emitting diode, optic fiber, PIN-photo diode and a high qualify shielding resistive divider, whose total response time is 7.35 [ns], has been obtained. The optical to electrical signal converter was constructed with GaAsP series light emitting diode. The response characteristics have been verified by applying the Marx impulse voltage generator experimentally. Comparing with the performance of conventional resistive voltage divider, the characteristics of the proposed optical-resistive voltage divider are more excellent in step response and less sensitive to electromagnetic interference.

  • This study explored the effects of emotional intelligence and sense of humor in institutionalized and at-home children on their aggressive behavior by using a path model. The participants in this study were 62 institutionalized children and 98 children reared at home, residing in an undisclosed city. The institutionalized children had a lower level of emotional intelligence and sense of humor than children at home. Also, the institutionalized children had a higher level of aggressive behavior than at-home children. Effects of emotional intelligence and sense of humor on the aggressive behavior were significantly different between institutionalized and at-home children.

  • An 11-year-old female toco toucan (Ramphastos toco) kept in outdoor exhibit was presented with sudden onset of anorexia and hypodynamia. After routine physical examination, the patient was treated. However, the bird died that evening. Necropsy revealed moderate swelling of the liver with yellowish discoloration. Based on the gross pathology as well as histologic evidence of iron pigments accumulation throughout the hepatocytes, hepatic hemochromatosis was diagnosed.

  • The electrical properties of various metal phthalocyanine(MPc) thin film sensors were tested in the presence of $NO_x$ gas. Among the Phthalocyanine(Pc) thin films, lead phthalocyanine(PbPc) thin film showed the best results nd its sensitivity was over 80% at 5ppm of $NO_x$ gas. Optimal operating conditions including response time and cyclic treatment of $NO_x$ were tested and discussed.

  • Vector control schemes are used in inverter-fed induction motor drives to obtain high performance. Crucial to the success of the vector control scheme is the knowledge of the instantaneous position of the rotor flux. However, the position of the rotor flux change with temperature and magnetic saturation of the motor. This variation cause deterioration of both steady state and dynamic operation of the motor drives. Performance degradation is in the form of input-output torque nonlinearity and saturation of the motor. Analytic expressions are derived to evaluate the effects due to parameter sensitivity. Also, dynamic response is shown by speed command with the variation of stator and rotor resistance.
