A Study on the Status and Spatial Autocorrelation of Vacant Houses in Jeollabuk-do, South Korea

  • Many houses have been left vacant in cities worldwide due to changes in the economy, society, and urban composition. The increase in vacant houses causes social problems and decrease in the value of real estate. Considering the cost of preparing a new residence because the existing residence no longer functions, it is an important problem to solve empty houses in the existing residence. Accordingly, policy attempts and studies to reduce and utilize vacant houses are in progress in various countries. In South Korea, the ratio of vacant houses was 6.4% of all houses as of 2021, and in Jeolla-buk-do, it was 11.6%, which is higher than the national average. Jeollabuk-do conducted a fact-finding survey on countermeasures against vacant houses; 17,732 vacant houses (2.4%) were surveyed. The urbanization, population, and terrain of Jeollabuk-do, consisting of 14 cities and counties, were considered. The ratios, types, grades, and spatial autocorrelations of vacant houses were analyzed after classification into city areas (focus, small, and medium) and county areas (plains and mountains) areas to derive policies according to the distribution of vacant houses. The average difference in ratio, type, grade, and spatial autocorrelation of vacant houses was used to analyze the characteristics of the distribution of vacant houses according to these classifications. There were significant differences in the averages of the ratios, grades, and spatial autocorrelations between city and county areas. The autocorrelation of vacant house distribution exhibited differences between urban and county areas.

한우에서 고온스트레스에 의한 Mannheimiosis 발생 증례 (Mannheimiosis case in Hanwoo caused by heat stress)

  • Mannheimia haemolytica is an opportunistic bacterium that is widely recognized among the bovine respiratory disease (BRD) complex in cattle. Five Hanwoo with a history of fever, anorexia and dyspnea were died within 2 days in a the middle of summer. Four cattle were pregnant. The cattle house were located in mountainous area but the window for air ventilation was open only one side. In addition, the fecal material for fermentation was located indoor. Air ceiling fan did not work. The indoor temperature was $40^{\circ}C$. After working on air fan, the indoor temperature was still $36^{\circ}C$. On necropsy, there was fibrinous pleuritis with a rich yellowish pleural fluids in the thorax. The cross-section of the lung showed lobar fibrinonecrotic pneumonia with expanded interlobular septa by edema and fibrin. Microscopically, parenchymal necrosis with dense layer of inflammatory cells were observed surrounding interlobular septum. Fibrin and inflammatory cells were filled in the alveoli. Bacteriological cultures of pulmonary tissue showed growth of M. haemolytica. This pneumonia case in Hanwoo suggests that environmental stressors such as high temperature, insufficient air ventilation, and pregnancy be the cause of mannheimoisis. Control of environmental stressor, such as temperature indoor is necessary to prevent BRD caused by M. haemolytica.

오디 생산용 뽕나무에 발생하는 균핵병과 뽕나무이의 약제 방제체계 (Chemical Management Strategies for Popcorn Disease and Mulberry Sucker on Fruit-Producing Mulberry)

  • 2017년도에서 2018년도까지 오디 생산용 뽕나무에 발생하는 주요 병해충 발생양상을 조사하였다. 병은 균핵병 등 5종, 해충은 뽕나무이 등 4종이 수확 전에 피해를 주는 것으로 조사되었다. 본 연구에서는 가장 큰 문제를 일으키는 균핵병과 뽕나무이에 의한 피해를 예방하기 위해 약제 체계별 방제효과를 조사하였다. 균핵병과 뽕나무이를 동시에 방제하기 위한 체계처리 결과는 관행방제구의 방제효과가 66.7%이었던 반면 종합방제구는 89.3%로 방제효과가 우수하였다. 실험 결과를 바탕으로 균핵병 예방을 위해 2월부터 순차적으로 약제를 처리하면서 4월 중하순에 균핵병과 뽕나무이를 동시방제하는 것이 방제에 필요한 노동력도 경감하고 병해충 발생생태에 맞춘 방제방법으로 오디 생산 현장에서 활용도가 높을 것으로 생각된다.

복분자딸기에서 차응애의 발생소장과 천적과 살비제 교호사용의 방제효과 (Seasonal Occurrence of Tetranychus kanzawai and Control Efficacy of Alternate Use of Natural Enemy and Miticide in Rubus coreanus Field)

  • 복분자딸기에 발생하는 차응애의 발생소장과 방제적기를 조사하고, 천적과 살비제의 교호사용에 의한 방제효과를 검토하였다. 2006년부터 2008년까지 익산지역에서 차응애는 5월 하순부터 발생하기 시작하여 6~7월에 밀도가 높았다가 8월 이후에 낮아지는 경향으로 조사기간 동안에 년 2~4회 발생피크를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 살비제에 의한 차응애 적정 방제시기는 5월 상순부터 중순까지였으며, 방제방법으로는 차응애 발생 초기에 살비제와 천적을 교호로 처리하였을 때 차응애에 대한 밀도억제 효과가 가장 우수하였으며, 수량도 무처리(559kg/10a)에 비하여 638kg/10a로 가장 높았다.

Identification and Characterization of the Causal Organism of Gummy Stem Blight in the Muskmelon (Cucumis melo L.)

  • Gummy stem blight is a major foliar disease of muskmelon (Cucumis melo L.). In this study, morphological characteristics and rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences were analyzed to identify the causal organism of this disease. Morphological examination of the Jeonbuk isolate revealed that the percentage of monoseptal conidia ranged from 0% to 10%, and the average length $\times$ width of the conidia was 70 ($\pm$ 0.96) $\times$ 32.0 ($\pm$ 0.15) ${\mu}m$ on potato dextrose agar. The BLAST analysis showed nucleotide gaps of 1/494, 2/492, and 1/478 with identities of 485/492 (98%), 492/494 (99%), 491/494 (99%), and 476/478 (99%). The similarity in sequence identity between the rDNA ITS region of the Jeonbuk isolate and other Didymella bryoniae from BLAST searches of GenBank was 100% and was 95.0% within the group. Nucleotide sequences of the rDNA ITS region from pure culture ranged from 98.2% to 99.8%. Phylogenetic analysis with related species of D. bryoniae revealed that D. bryoniae is a monophyletic group distinguishable from other Didymella spp., including Ascochyta pinodes, Mycosphaerella pinodes, M. zeae-maydis, D. pinodes, D. applanata, D. exigua, D. rabiei, D. lentis, D. fabae, and D. vitalbina. Phylogenetic analysis, based on rDNA ITS sequence, clearly distinguished D. bryoniae and Didymella spp. from the 10 other species studied. This study identified the Jeonbuk isolate to be D. bryoniae.

Sclerotium rolfsii에 의한 고구마 흰비단병 (Stem Rot of Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas) Caused by Sclerotium rolfsii in Korea)

  • 2007년부터 2009년까지 전북 익산지역의 고구마 육묘장에서 봄에 Sclerotium rolfsii에 의한 고구마 흰비단병이 발생하였다. 초기증상은 황화되어 시들고 감염된 조직 주변과 지제부에 흰색의 균사체가 형성되었다. 육묘시기에는 병에 매우 약하여 감염되면 고사된다. 병원균은 배지 위에서 흰색균사가 빠르게 자라고 7일 후 균핵을 형성하였다. 균핵은 처음에 흰색에서 시간이 경과됨에 따라 갈색으로 변하였다. 따라서 고구마에서 발생한 병징, 병원균의 균학적 특징과 병원성을 검정한 결과, 이 병을 S. rolfsii Saccardo에 의한 고구마 흰비단병으로 동정하였다.
