A Case Report ; Conversion Disorder, Wei Symptom Patient (전환장애 위증 환자 1례에 대한 증례보고)

  • Objectives : This is a clinical report about the Conversion Disorder, Wei symptom patient. Methods : The patient was treated by acupuncture, herb medication, moxibustion, physical therapy and bio feedback. The improvement of the patient was judged by lower limb elevation test and gait condition test. Results : During the 1st duration, lower limb elevation angle of the patient had improved. And the patient's gait condition had improved. But he received stress so that same symptom appeared again. Then, after the second treatment, He could walk alone again. Conclusions : Oriental medicine treatment including Acupuncture, Herb medication was very effctive to improve the Conversion disorder patient's symptoms. It is necessary to have more observation and many cases of patients with Conversion disorder.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the oriental conservative treatment for FBSS patient who were diagnosed as the Cauda equina syndrome. Methods : The patient were treated by the oriental medical conservative treatment including herbal medication, dry needle acupuncture, direct moxibustion and indirect moxibustion, cupping therapy and, physical therapy. We estimated by Visual Analog Scale and Oswestry disability index for evaluate the effect of Oriental conservative treatment. Results : After treatment, patient's visual analogue scale score and Oswestry disability index score were generally decreased. Conclusions : The oriental medical conservative treatment might be an effective method to treat the FBSS patient who were diagnosed as the Cauda equina syndrome.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to report Bell's palsy patients with postauricular pain treated by Calculus Bovis Fel Ursi Moschus(BUM) Pharmacopuncture. Methods : The 6 patients were treated by the Korean medica treatment including herbal medication, dry needle acupuncture and physical therapy. We performed BUM Pharmacopuncture in Yepung for the treatment of postauricular pain once or twice. We have evaluated the effect of BUM Pharmacopuncture by Visual Analog Scale(VAS). Results : After BUM Pharmacopuncture for the treatment of postauricular pain, VAS were decreased in all cases. Conclusions : It was suggested that BUM Pharmacopuncture might have effect on control of auricular pain in Bell's palsy. Further, systemic studies will be needed to evaluate obvious effect of BUM pharmacopuncture on postauricular pain of Bell's palsy.

A Case Report on Pneumothorax Caused by Interscapular Area Acupuncture (견갑골 내측 부 자침으로 야기된 기흉 1례)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to report the case prognosis and evaluate treatment and prevention of pneumothorax after acupuncture treatment. Methods : A 32-year-old slender male complained of pain in the interscapular area. As a result, acupuncture needling and manual technique were performed to trigger the points of trapezius and rhomboid muscles. After this, chest pain and dyspnea occurred. Pneumothorax was confirmed by chest radiography and symptom progression was observed for 14 days while high pressure oxygen was administered. Results : The chest pain disappeared after 4 days of pneumothorax, and most of the related symptoms disappeared after 14 days. Conclusion : For acupuncture treatment to the interscapular area, the depth and manual technique should be carefully performed.

  • Although the HawngJeNeKyung(黃帝內經) was regarded as the the extremly aged book in oriental medicine history, We can find out many quotations in the HawngJeNeKyung. Some of this quotations are applicable to the age of the Warring States(戰國), but the other quotations are correspond to its after the period of HouHan(後漢). The books included before the QianHan(前漢) are 12 kinds of books, such as KyuTak(揆度), KiHang(奇恒), SangKyung(上經), HaKyung(下經), etc. The books included after the HouHan(後漢) are 5 kinds of books, such as CheonWonOkChek(天元玉冊), DaeYo(大要), HyunJuMilEo(玄珠密語), etc. Founded on these various books, the theories of oriental medicine was accomplished in the HawngJeNeKyung.

  • Review of literature on stomachache. According to investigated the pathology of a stomachache about all sorts of falling ill, I have been obtained following conclusions. 1. The cause of Ui Wan Tong are clod-wet-ui wan, sik juk, dam eum, a huy1 be made of gi bul soon (氣不順). 2. Pain of Je sang bu are called jung wan tong, dae bok tong, jung cho tong, cause are sik juk, han sa, chung juk. pain of je ha bu are called so bok tong, hache tong, soh bok tong, so bok are devided two part, one is so eum sin the other is gul eum gan, cause are jo gyul dae jang, yul gyu1 bang kwang, hyul gyul bang kwang, porak hu ect. 3. Pain of je bu are called je bok tong, hwan je e tong, so bok je ju tong, and cause are juk yu1, jo si, dam hwa. Pain of yang hyup bu are called yang hyup ha so bok tong, yang bang ge hyup tong, yang hup jisang tong, cause are ban gi,yang myung jo geom. According to above results, the patholosy of a stomach ache about the part of falling ill in a course of transformation on the epidemic fever comes into the viscera.
