The Motivating Role of Sentiment in ESG Performance: Evidence from Japanese Companies

  • The paper investigates investor sentiment's role in boosting Japanese companies to enhance their environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) performance. Using ESG scores of 367 firms between 2005 and 2019 from the ASSET4 database, we find that negative sentiment in the previous year, both firm and market level, can be a stimulation for the company's commitments to its ESG activities next year. Notably, the moderating effect of the business sector and economic cycle on the sentiment-ESG inference are detected in our study differentiating between corporate and market sentiment, which have never been reported before. In detail, we discover that the impact of firm-specific sentiment is less pronounced for high-sensitive ESG firms. On the other hand, the driving force of market sentiment on corporate social behaviors weakens when economic recessions happen. Our results are robust after controlling for potential endogeneity issues and using alternative proxies for market sentiment.

  • 세계적으로 정보교육의 중요성이 가속화됨에 따라 일본은 2020년부터 대학입시 제도에서 입시 과목으로 '정보' 교과의 반영을 고려하고 있다. 일본 정보입시연구회는 2013년도부터 대학입시 수준의 '정보' 전국모의 시험을 매년 실시하여 고등학생의 적절한 수준 및 변화 추이를 파악할 수 있는 데이터를 축적하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 일본에서 현재까지 시행된 전국모의시험과 동일한 문항을 한국 일반계 고등학생을 대상으로 실시하여 한국과 일본 고등학생의 수준을 비교 분석하고자 한다. 2015년 일본 대학입시 '정보' 전국모의시험을 한국과 일본 고등학생을 대상으로 실시하고 전체 평균 및 각 분야별 평균 비교 분석, 성별 분석을 통해 한국 일반계 고등학생의 수준을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과를 통해 고등학교에서 정보교과가 사회에서 요구되는 능력을 담보할 수 있는 필수교과로 개설되고 대학입시 과목에 반영되는 등 향후 정보교육의 추진 방향을 모색할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • The world has become interested in aging problems. We will have many problems also in the PT field. Japanese aging rate was as high as 16.7 percent in the year of 1999. Its PT has dealt with the aging problem in various ways. This research helps you understand the background and history of Japanese PT from the both clinical and literal sides, which attaches importance to exercise treatment and local rehabilitation, through the PT charge and its related law. Japan and Korea are the neighbors and history, society and culture of both countries have much in common. Korea will also face the aging society soon. I hope it is a good way for Korea to deal with such problems in the future to know of the Japanese PT and refer to it.

가정학교육과 취업방안연구 (A Study on Home Economist Education with Refrence to the Business Activities in Korea)

  • Korean home economics education has around 100 years history. The main aims of home economics education up 1950 had not been changed, they were mainly for the improvement of household-skill to raise both standard of living and life quality as well as womanhood. After 1960's the standard of living drastically improved and the industrialization of Korean society was quite rapidly proceeded from simple to complex one. Because of these changes, I considered that the aims and the contents of home economics education should be reexamined and reshaped. This study motivated me that especially home economics major should be trained to be competent enough to work in industrialized society as much as the input to her college education. As industialization was made progress, family member's diverse role differentiation also occurred from past simple role such as house wife or girl's high school teacher among by home economics major. In this current societal change, most of the home economics major have wish to have opportunities obtaining new kinds of employment rather than obtaining merely teaching work. With this in mind I made a study on college level home economics education of the new adjustment to current and future industrialized Korean society. (1) The full number of officially admissible home economics major in 169 Korean colleges, 70 junior colleges, and one open university were as follows, 7139, 6080, and 230 respectively. The percentages of employed of employed numbers of them for the college and junior college graduates were 26.5 and 39.0 respectively. (2) The certificate qualifications issued to college home economics major are nutritionist (1st grade and 2nd grade), clothes and textilist, home economics teacher (2nd grade for high school) and kindergartener (2nd grade), The qualifications are certified after majoring each field from major departments of college of home economics by Ministrys of Labour and Education of the Korean government. The percentages of their employment are low as mentioned earlier. (3) To find out new employment opportunity for home economics graduates in home economist in business (henceforce/HEIB) status quo of consumer division for mational enterprise was surveyed. According to govermment decree of general law of consumer protection (1980), enterprise should organize bureau (offics, subdivision) on liability to consumer's complaint. Of 89.6% of the enterprise established th subdivision in which 96.2% of employee was male (3.8% was female). Of the employee college graduate and high school graduate were 93.2% and 6.8% respectively. On the employee's major acadmic backgroud (%), economics and business administration, engineering and low-political science were 39.5, 26.2 and 11.2 respectively. (4) To study on the relation between home economics and home economist in business, the aspect of historical development of HEIB, group of HEIB employing enterprise and their nature of business were tried to find out as well as perception and evaluation by enterprise on HEIB. (a) In the united States of America employed home economics major to enterprise was organized autonomously HEIB subdivision within American Home Economics Association since 1920's and the membership of HEIB was 3,000 of the AHEA membership 50,000. (b) In Japan the Japanese founder HEIB had three times the bilateral congress with the U.S.HEIB and had 10th anniversary celebration in 1988. Japanese HEIB member are not necessary to be home economics graduates but should have certificate as consumer adviser effected by the Minister of Trade and Industry. Japanese subdivision of consumer affaire within Japanese enterprise employ the consumer adviser with the certificate. Because of this different system from the United Sates, Japanese HEIB call their title "HEEB" instead of HEIB. The Japanese consumer adviser certificate system had initiated since 1980 and it belongs to 2nd level national qualification certificate. Currently active membership of Japanese "HEEB" association had increased from 115 (in 1979) to 319 in 1988. (5) For the opening of the future new employment of home economics graduates to enterprise and qualification required for the HEIB by national enterprise in Korea, I studied on the courses which seem to be important and required by employee in the field of HEEB in the United States of America and preliminary curriculum for home economics related major student aimning to be the future "HEEB" by Japanese HEEB study group of Japanese Association of Home Economics. It is suggested that it is very important and urgent to realize as home economics educator to have common deep concern and endeavors on opening new employment for our home economics major student1), we should try to publicize strongly and let enterprise and consumer protection board realize that employee in the subdivision of consumer protection should be the one who well experienced home economics major graduates2), we, home economics educator, should try to develop actively new curriculum in line of the suggestion made earlier for our future home economics major student of open broadly their future employment opportunities3), we, home economics educators, should try to have consensus on whether we should have support from government in terms of receiving national qualification certificate on consumer pretection or not4), and I would appreciate if the Korean Home Economics Association and Korean Home Management Society paydeep and positive concern on this matter.

저급목재의 자기가수분해 전처리에 의한 고순도 셀룰로오스 기질의 제조 (Preparation of Pure Cellulose Substrate from Low-Grade Woods by Autohydrolysis)

  • 본 연구는 자기가수분해전처리를 통하여 반응성이 높은 고순도 셀룰로오스기질을 제조하기 위하여 수행되었다. 공시재의 일반 화학조성은 일본잎갈나무와 신갈나무간에 큰 차이가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 추출물함량은 일본잎갈나무가 신갈나무보다 상당량 많았다. 특히 냉·온수 추출물함량은 2.5~3.5배 많았다. 이러한 추출물함량의 큰 차이는 일본잎갈나무에는 arabinogalactan이 많이 함유되어 있기 때문인 것으로 사료된다. 리그닌함량은 신갈나무가 잎갈나무바다 5% 정도 낮았으며, 그 대신 홀로셀룰로오스 및 펜토산함량이 각각3% 정도 높은 값으로 나타났다. 22 kg/cm2 수증기압력에서 5~60분간의 자기가수분해 전처리과정에서 glucose 함량에는 변화가 없었으나, hemicellulose 및 lignin 함량은 급력한 변화를 보였다. 전처리과정에서 가수분해물의 pH는 3까지 저하되었으며, 이러한 경향은 신갈나무 및 일본잎갈나무에서 동일하게 나타났다. Sodium chlorite 및 sulfite 혹은 bisulfite 전처리 후 자기가수분해가 리그닌함량이 낮은 고순도셀룰로오스기질의 제조에 효과적이었다. 특히 자기가수분해처리재를 알칼리 및 산소-알칼리 2단처리함으로서 0~0.2%의 리그닌함량을 가지는 고순도기질을 제조할 수 있었다.

Bayesian estimates of genetic parameters of non-return rate and success in first insemination in Japanese Black cattle

  • Objective: The objective of present study was to estimate heritability of non-return rate (NRR) and success of first insemination (SFI) by using the Bayesian approach with Gibbs sampling. Methods: Heifer Traits were denoted as NRR-h and SFI-h, and cow traits as NRR-c and SFI-c. The variance covariance components were estimated using threshold model under Bayesian procedures THRGIBBS1F90. Results: The SFI was more relevant to evaluating success of insemination because a high percentage of animals that demonstrated no return did not successfully conceive in NRR. Estimated heritability of NRR and SFI in heifers were 0.032 and 0.039 and the corresponding estimates for cows were 0.020 and 0.027. The model showed low values of Geweke (p-value ranging between 0.012 and 0.018) and a low Monte Carlo chain error, indicating that the amount of a posteriori for the heritability estimate was valid for binary traits. Genetic correlation between the same traits among heifers and cows by using the two-trait threshold model were low, 0.485 and 0.591 for NRR and SFI, respectively. High genetic correlations were observed between NRR-h and SFI-h (0.922) and between NRR-c and SFI-c (0.954). Conclusion: SFI showed slightly higher heritability than NRR but the two traits are genetically correlated. Based on this result, both two could be used for early indicator for evaluate the capacity of cows to conceive.

수산·해운계 고등학교 전문 교과 편수 자료 개발에 대한 기초 연구 (A Study on the Editing Data Development for Fisheries and Shipping High School Subject)

  • The department of education developed editing data of fisheries and shipping high school subject in 1987. But as change to informational society, the new term and predicate were built on a textbook of fisheries and shipping that was not in the past. Terms came into being in this way, it was used indiscreetly by spending a different expression on a textbook. In this study based on currently subject of fisheries and shipping high school 36books, examined an elementary school junior high school and a definition related term in order to solve these problems. Specialist on each field selected term and the predicate which is objective and proper. Especially field of fisheries and shipping uses a japanese term as it is. So there are a lot of the terms that is hard for students. Using these terms yet, the term that meaning delivery is uncertain and hard expression is going to carry out role to convert to a clear and easy term through this study.

  • Comparative Study on Historical Changes of Practical Arts Education and Technology-Home Economics Education in Korea and Japan This dissertation is a comparative study on Practical Arts(Home Economics) Education and Technology-Home Economics Education of Korea and Japan. I established two research objectives to conduct the research : To understand the differences in historical changes in Practical Arts Education and Technology-Home Economics of the two countries: And to grope for the new direction of Home Economics Education. Research findings are as follows : Japan was also ahead of Korea for about two decades in terms of putting Home Economics Education in practice at elementary schools. Practical Arts Education Started to emerge in Elementary school system in 1955, which had been originated in vocational education before the year 1945 in Korean However, from the 3th curriculum Practical Arts Education Curriculum put emphasis on home lives. Regarding the characteristics of education from the perspectives of historical changes at Korean Junior-high schools after the year 1945. Home Economics Education had been regarded as “female subject”until the 1980s and was integrated into regular curricula for co-education in the middle of the 1990s. when the 6th Curriculum was activated. Technology-Home Economics started to emerge in Japan in 1962. while the subject Home Economics Education was integrated into curricula for males in high school as well in 1989. In the Korean 7th Curriculum, the combined subject Technology-Home Economics is divided into three categories. A remarkable difference from japanese Technology-Home Economics is that korean curriculum has no division between required and elective. In conclusion. I observe that both Korean and Japanese curricula for Home Economics Education were originated in Confucianism. However, unlike Korean situation, current Japanese Home Economics Education takes a significant part as a continuing and required subject for both primary and secondary co-education.

일본 대학입시정책의 변화 동향과 시사점 (A Study on the Currents and Implications of the Japanese University Admissions Reform)

  • 이 논문은 근래 일본 교육개혁에 관한 관심이 뜨거운 상황에서, 고대접속개혁의 핵심인 대학입시 개혁의 배경과 의미, 현장의 반응 등을 면밀히 분석하고자 하는 문제의식에서 작성되었다. 학력검사에서 공통 제1차 학력시험, 그리고 대학입시센터시험과 추천입시 및 AO 입시의 등장 배경과 경과를 살펴보고, 교육재생실행회의와 중앙교육심의회, 그리고 고대접속개혁회의에 이르기까지 교육개혁의 경위를 추적하였다. 이번 개혁의 핵심인 대학입학희망자학력평가 테스트를 세밀하게 분석하고, 한국에서 특히 주목을 끌고 있는 국제 바칼로레아와 대학 입학문제를 검토하였다. 고교교육과 대학교육 개혁의 접속이라는 관점에서 대학입시개혁을 바라보고, 기술식 문항 등 새로운 유형의 평가를 시행할 때 검토할 사항, 그리고 다양한 학생을 포괄할 수 있도록 개혁 구상을 확장할 것을 제언하고, 국제 바칼로레아 도입에 앞서 검토할 사항을 제시하였다.

한국과 일본의 중등 가정 교육과정에 명시된 녹색생활교육 (Content Analyses of Green life-Education in Korean and Japanese Secondary School Home Economics Curricula)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 한국과 일본의 중등 가정 교육과정의 성격, 목표 내용, 교수 학습방법, 평가/내용취급에 명시된 녹색생활 교육내용의 관점을 비교 분석하는데 있다. 한국의 2007 개정 교육과정의 중학교 기술 가정, 고등학교 기술 가정, 가정과학과 일본의 2008 고시 중학교 기술 가정, 2009 고시 고등학교 가정기초 가정총합, 생활디자인의 교육과정을 분석하였다. 한국과 일본의 가정 교육과정 분석결과, 양국 교육과정의 '성격', '목표', '내용', '교수 학습 밥법, 평가/내용취급' 요소에 모두 녹색 생활 교육의 다양한 측면이 포함되어 있었다. 양국 모두 교육과정의 '내용' 요소에 녹색생활 교육 측면이 가장 많이 구체적으로 반영된 반면 '성격'과 '목표' 요소에는 반영 정도도 낮고 추상적이고 포괄적인 방법으로 반영되어 있다. 양국 교육과정 전반에 나타난 가정교과에서의 녹색생활 교육은 이론적 측면보다는 가정생활 전반에 걸쳐 실천적이고 체험적 측면을 강조하고 있었다. 녹색생활 교육 요소가 적고 편중된 내용영역은 차기 교육과정 및 교과서를 개발할 때 관련 내용의 보완이 요구되며, 핵심 내용요소는 사실적 지식 제시를 넘어서 환경과의 관련성에서 구성해야 할 것이다.
