Cables are the main load-bearing members of prestressed structure and other tensegrity structures. Based on the static equilibrium principle, a new cable force identification method considering cable flexural rigidity is proposed. Its computational formula is derived and the strategy to solve its implicit formula is introduced as well. In order to improve the reliability and practicality of this method, the influence of the cable flexural rigidity on cable force identification accuracy is also investigated. Through cable force identification experiments, the relationships among certain parameters including jacking force, jacking displacement, initial cable force, and sectional area (flexural rigidity) are studied. The results show that the cable force calculated by the proposed method considering flexural rigidity is in good agreement with the finite element results and experimental results. The proposed method with high computational accuracy and resolution efficiency can avoid the influences of the boundary condition and the length of the cable on calculation accuracy and is proven to be conveniently applied to cable force identification in practice.

This paper presents the application technique on thrust jacking pressuring of shield TBM in the sharp curved tunnel alignment by model tests. Recently, the application of shield TBM method as mechanized tunnelling is increasing to prevent the vibration and noise problems, which can be occurred in the NATM in the urban area in Korea. However, it is necessary to plan the sharp curved tunnel alignment in order to avoid the building foundation and underground structures, to develop the shield TBM operation technique in the shape curved tunnel alignment. Therefore, the main operation parameters of shield TBM in the curved tunnel alignment are reviewed and analyzed based on the case study and analytical study. The results show that the operation of shield jacking force system is the most important technique in the shape curved tunnel alignment. The simplified scaled model tests are also carried out in order to examine the ground-shield TBM head behaviour. The earth pressures acting on the head of shield TBM are investigated according to two different shield jacking force systems (uniform and un-uniform pressure) and several articulation angles. The results obtained from the model tests are analysed. These results will be very useful to understand the shield TBM head interaction behaviour due to the shield jacking operation technique in the shape curved tunnel alignment, and to develop the operation technique.

Because MS(Multi-Strand) cables consist of many strands, a jacking force is applied to each strand one by one for cable construction. All strands should have an equal tensile force when the last one is wedged. This is the core technology for MS iso-tensioning. In this study, a new MS cable iso-tensioning system was developed for controlling and jacking the high-strength strands, with an ultimate tensile strength of 2,200MPa, for a stay cable of extra-dosed/cable-stayed bridges. The newly developed iso-tensioning system consists of electrical resistance load cells, hydraulic jacking devices, hydraulic pumps, and integrated controllers. Moreover, it is embedded with an algorithm that can control and predict the variations in tensile forces of the Master and Slave strands in real time. Actual experiments were carried out to verify the function and performance of the newly developed system. This system was applied successfully to the stay cable construction of 2nd Tae-in extra-dosed bridge in Gwangyang.

This paper presents the effect of Segment thickness during Shield TBM tunnelling in case study. In order to perform this study, the ground condition developed in the investigation site are reviewed and analysed. It is also carried out the construction problems occurred in the site during Shield TBM tunnelling. Several Segments were broken partially during advance tunnel by jacking pressure. The data surveyed from site are analysed in order to investigate the cause of Segment break. The numerical and analytical evaluations are carried out to examine the effect of Segment behaviour. From the results, it is found that the main causes of Segment break may be the jacking system and Segment thickness. In addition, new jacking technique is suggested to install safely the Segment during advance tunnel by jacking.

This study is a research on the buckling analysis of a portable prestressing device using finite element analysis program, ABAQUS. In order to produce 50m-span PSC girders using pretensioning method, a portable prestressing device has to endure a large jacking force about 10MN. Therefore it shall be safe and stable about the jacking force. In this study, the buckling analysis technique is developed and the buckling analysis of a portable prestressing device is performed using previous studies about the analytical model that the validity of the analytical model was demonstrated by comparing analytical results with experimental results. The stability of the device to produce 10m span PSC girders is investigated.
Experimental study was performed to evaluate the long-term behavior of CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced polymer) strips under sustained loads including prestressing force in strengthening RC members with post-tensioned CFRP strips. Two types of CFRP strip such as unidirectional CFRP strip and hybrid CFRP strip which is composed of carbon fiber and steel plate were considered. Also two types of loading scheme were included in this study. Direct sustained loading test had been carried out to estimate the creep deformation and relaxation of CFRP strips including slip deformation at both mechanical anchorages for over 700 days. Also, flexural sustained loading test had been conducted to estimate the initial prestress losses on clamping the CFRP strips at jacking anchorages for over 90 days. From the sustained loading tests, it was observed that stress losses of unidirectional CFRP strips due to the creep deformation and relaxation of material itself and slip deformation at mechanical anchorage were ignorable. On the other hand, significant stress losses caused by the yielding of steel embedded in CFRP strips were found in case of hybrid CFRP strips due to the initial jacking force over steel yielding stress. Also, initial prestress losses during setting of CFRP strips on mechanical anchorage were about 10% of intial jacking force, which must be considered in the design.

A precast concrete beam which is larger than the limits of domestic transportation regulation in weight, length, and volume is divided into three parts, transported separately, and erected with a composite beam by post-tensioning in site. Shear tests are performed on the post-tensioned composite segmental beam models with 1/2 scale. The jacking force and the ratio of area of shear key to beam section are major experimental variables. Nine shear strength are resulted from the tests with two variables. Rational equation for estimation of shear strength are obtained from the regression analysis on test results.
A method for computing the elastic buckling prestressing force of a post-tensioned composite steel-concrete tee-beam is presented. The method is based on a virtual work formulation, and incorporates the restraint provided by the concrete slab to the buckling displacements of the steel beam. The distortional buckling solutions are shown to be given by a quadratic equation. The application of the analysis to calculation buckling strengths is given, based on codified rules for beam-columns. Conclusions are then drawn on the importance of distortional buckling when a post-tensioned composite beam is stressed during jacking.

This paper presents an analysis of data from tests on composite-anchor by jacking force. The properties of composite-anchor was presented to be as follows , the maximum plastic displacement was 60 mm in abandoned coal fill deposit, the shear stress($\tau$) is expressed as $\tau$ = (equation omitted) kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ in clayey silt.

Friction coefficients of the prestressing tendon are the basic information required to control the prestressing force introduced to PSC structure during jacking. However, the friction coefficients show considerable differences depending on the specifications, causing much confusion to designers. In this study, a procedure is proposed that can be used to estimate the wobble and curvature friction coefficients from field data and classical theory related to the friction. The procedure is applied to two PSC girder bridges with various tendon profiles. The resulting values are compared with those presented in some specifications and assumed in jacking. The resulting wobble friction coefficients are not as small as those presented in AASHTO specifications but are more or less similar to the lower limit of domestic standards, while the curvature friction coefficients approach or slightly exceed the upper limit of the same standards.
