The Synergistic Effect of Juglans sinensis, Psoralea corylifolia, and Their Combination on the Asthmatic Murine Model (천식모델을 이용한 호도, 파고지 및 두 배합약물의 실험적 연구)

  • Objectives : To clarify the possible effect of JS (Juglans sinensis), PCF (Psoralea corylifolia L.), and J+P(JS+PCF), we examined their influence on the development of pulmonary eosinophilic inflammation in the asthmatic murine model. Methods : All mice were immunized on two different days (21 days and 7 days before inhalational exposure) by intraperitonial injections of 0.2 ml alum-precipitated Ag containing 100 ${\mu}$g of OVA bound to 4 mg of aluminum hydroxide in PBS. Seven days after the second sensitization, mice were exposed to aerosolized ovalbumin for 30 minutes/day on 3 days/week for 8 weeks (at a flow rate of 250 L/min, 2.5% ovalbumin in normal saline) and, JS, PCF and J+P (200 mg/kg, 400 mg/kg) were orally administered 3 times per week for 8 weeks. Results : The suppressive effects of JS, PCF, and J+P were demonstrated by the accumulation of eosinophils into airways, with the reduction of eosinophils and lung leukocytes. These were correlated with the marked reduction of IL-4, IL-5, IL-13 levels in the BALF and serum. OVA-specific IgE levels were also decreased in serum and BAL from these mice. And also JS, PCF, and J+P decreased eosinophilic CCR3 and CD11b expression in lung tissue. Conclusions : These results indicate that JS, PCF, and J+P have deep inhibitory effects on airway inflammation and hyper-responsiveness in the asthmatic murine model. The suppression of IL-5, IgE, and eosinophilils and the increase of IFN-${\gamma}$ production in BALF seem to contribute to these effects. Specially, esosinophils and TNF-a in J+P combination group were significantly reduced in BALF and lung tissue. Hence, the results indicated that JS, PCF, and J+P could act as an immuno-modulator which possesses anti-inflammatory and anti-asthmatic property by modulating the imbalance between Th1 and Th2 cytokines.

Purification and Characterization of Bacillus subtilis JS-17 Collagenase. (Bacillus subtilis JS-17이 생산하는 Collagenase의 정제 및 특성)

  • Collagenases are generally defined as enzymes that are capable of degrading the polypeptide backbone of native collagen under conditions that do not denature the protein. An extracellular collagenase-producing bacterial strain was isolated from kimchi and identified to be Bacillus subtilis JS-17 through morphological, cultural, biochemical characteristics and 16S rDNA sequence analysis. Optimum culture condition of Bacillus subtilis JS-17 for the production of collagenase was $1.5\%$ fructose, $1\%$ yeast extract, $0.5\%\;K_2HPO_4,\;0.4\%\;KH_2PO_4,\;0.01\%\;MgSO_4\cdot7H_2O,\;0.01\%\; MnSO_4\cdot4H_2O,\;,0.1\%$ citrate and $0.1\%\;CaCl_2$. The production of collagenase was optimal at $30^{\circ}C$ for 72 hr. A collagenase was isolated from the culture filtrate of Bacillus subtilis JS-17. The enzyme was purified using Amberlite IRA-900 column chromatography, Sephacryl S-300 HR column chromatography and DEAE-Sephadex A-50 column chromatography The purified collagenase has an specific activity 192.1 units/mg. The molecular weight of the purified enzyme was estimated to be 28 kDa by SDS-PACE. The purified collagenase has $100\%$ activity up to $55^{\circ}C$.

Optimization of Media Composition on the Production of Melanin Bleaching Enzyme from Peniophora sp. JS17 (Peniophora sp. JS17 유래 멜라닌 탈색 효소 생산을 위한 배지 조성의 최적화)

  • Peniphora sp. JS17, isolated from forest old tree, produced extracellular enzymes that decolorized human hair melanin. The JS17 strain had laccase and manganese peroxidase activity while it did not has lignin peroxidase activity. Batch culture indicated that the melanin decolorization activity of JS17 strain originated from laccase. The culture conditions to maximize the production of melanin bleaching enzymes from Peniophora sp. JS17 mycelia were investigated. Among the tested media for the laccase production, minimal medium (2% glucose, 0.2% malt extract, 0.1% $KH_2PO_4$, 0.4% $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$) showed the highest activity of laccase. Then, to optimize the culture condition for the laccase activity, the influence of various carbon and nitrogen sources was investigated in minimal medium. Among various carbon and nitrogen sources, 2% xylose and 0.4% tryptone showed the highest production of laccase, respectively. The enzyme was purified using $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ precipitation and Hitrap Q sepharose column, and the purified enzyme showed two isoenzymatic bands with molecular masses of about 70 kDa by SDS-PAGE. The melanin decolorization activity was 77% and 55% within 48 h in the presence of 1-hydroxybenzotriazole (HBT) and syringaldehyde, respectively, whereas only about 9% melanin decolorized in case of no mediator.

The Mediating Role of Organizational Citizenship Behavior between Organizational Justice and Organizational Effectiveness in Nursing Organizations (간호조직에서 조직공정성과 조직유효성 관계에서 조직시민행동의 매개역할)

  • Purpose: This study was a secondary analysis to verify the mediating role of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) between organizational justice (OJ) and organizational effectiveness (OE) in nursing organizations. Methods: The RN-BSNs and their colleagues in Seoul and Busan were subjects. The data was collected for 20 days between September 13 and October 2, 2004. Two hundred eighty three data sets were used for the final analysis. The fitness of models were tested using AMOS 5. Results: The fitness of hypothetical model was moderate. Procedural Justice (PJ), Interaction Justice (IJ) and Distributive Justice (DJ) had direct effects on Job Satisfaction (JS), Organizational Commitment (OC) and Turnover Intention (TI) in OE, and indirect effects on JS, OC and TI mediated by OCB. The modified model improved with ideal fitness showed the causal relations among OE. In modified model, PJ, IJ and DJ had direct positive effects on OCB and JS and OC in OE, and indirect effects on JS and OC mediated by OCB. JS and OC in OE had a direct negative effect on TI. Conclusion: OCB mediated the relationship between OJ and OE, so the nursing managers should enhance OCB of the nurses in order to improve OE.

Performance Evaluation of Node.js for Web Service Gateway in IoT Remote Monitoring Applications

  • The growth of mobile devices in Internet of Things (IoT) leads to a number of remote and controlling system related IoT applications. For instance, home automation controlling system uses client system such web apps on smartphone or web service to access the home server by sending control commands. The home server receives the command, then controls for instance the light system. The web service gateway responsible for handling clients' requests attests an internet latency when an increasing number of end users requests submit toward it. Therefore, this web service gateway fails to detect several commands, slows down predefined actions which should be performed without human intervention. In this paper, we investigate the performance of a web server-side platgorm based event-driven, non-blocking approach called Node.js against traditional thread-based server side approach to handle a large number of client requests simultaneously for remote and controlling system in IoT remote monitoring applications. The Node.JS is 40% faster than the traditional web server side features thread-based approach. The use of Node.js server-side handles a large number of clients' requests, then therefore, reduces delay in performing predefined actions automatically in IoT environment.

Design and Implementation of Hybrid Mobile App Framework (하이브리드 모바일 앱 프레임워크 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, in order to improve the execution performance and serviceability of cross-platform applications frameworks based on the existing web applications, we design and implement a new hybrid application framework named as WApplE.js, which enables direct control of native UI(User Interface) of mobile operating systems and various resources via JavaScript. We first present the design results for the overall software structure and the configuration of every layer of WApplE.js, and then analyze the processes for calling and handling APIs in the implemented hybrid application framework. In addition, the results of comparison of features to the existing frameworks are presented.

The Relationship among Knowledge, Attitudes, Skill, Self-efficacy, and Job Satisfaction of Healthcare Managers (건강관리사의 지식, 태도, 기술, 자기효능감과 직무만족)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the differences and relationships among knowledge, attitudes, skill, self-efficacy (SE), and Job satisfaction (JS) of healthcare managers (HMs) participated in the 4 kinds of continuing education. Methods: The subjects were 152 HMs. Data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, and partial correlation. Results: There were significant differences in knowledge according to the amount of healthcare management experience (HME) and the training program level (TPL); in the attitudes according to gender, age, and the TPL; in the skill according to the amount of HME and the TPL; and in SE according to gender and the TPL. There was no significant difference in JS according to general characteristics. There were significant positive correlations among knowledge, attitudes, skill, SE, and JS. Conclusion: The TPL was identified as a significant common variable that affects all variables apart from JS. According to these results, knowledge, attitudes, skill, and SE are considered as intrapersonal constructs, whereas JS is considered as an organizational construct. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of healthcare management, organizational strategy to enhance job satisfaction of HMs are recommended.

  • Facial expression recognition plays a significant role in understanding human emotional states. With the advancement of AI and computer vision technologies, extensive research has been conducted in various fields, including improving customer service, medical diagnosis, and assessing learners' understanding in education. In this study, we develop a model that can infer emotions in real-time from a webcam using transfer learning with TensorFlow.js and MobileNet. While existing studies focus on achieving high accuracy using deep learning models, these models often require substantial resources due to their complex structure and computational demands. Consequently, there is a growing interest in developing lightweight deep learning models and transfer learning methods for restricted environments such as web browsers and edge devices. By employing MobileNet as the base model and performing transfer learning, our study develops a deep learning transfer model utilizing JavaScript-based TensorFlow.js, which can predict emotions in real-time using facial input from a webcam. This transfer model provides a foundation for implementing facial expression recognition in resource-constrained environments such as web and mobile applications, enabling its application in various industries.

Organizational Justice, Job Satisfaction and Islamic Spirituality among Malaysian SME Employees

  • The role of Islamic spirituality in the relationship between organizational justice (OJ) and job satisfaction is investigated in this study (JS). The three components of OJ in this study are distributive, procedural, and interactional justice. Islamic spirituality (IS) is founded on piety values, and IS was used as a moderating factor in this study to alter the link between OJ and JS among Malaysian employees of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Four hundred sets of the questionnaire were issued using a simple random selection procedure, yielding 276 completed responses, suggesting a 69 percent response rate. Multiple Linear Regression Analysis (MLRA) was used to test the proposed relationships. The findings of the study demonstrate that the three OJ aspects have a considerable impact on employee JS, indicating the significance of these elements in ensuring that employees are satisfied with their jobs. IS, on the other hand, had no effect on the link between the OJ dimensions and JS. This research has added to the existing body of knowledge by giving further empirical evidence on the impact of OJ aspects on employee JS in SMEs, notably in Malaysia.

  • 깃허브는 개발자의 명함이라는 말이 있듯, 많은 수의 개발자들이 깃허브를 활용해 자신의 개발 이력과 프로젝트들을 관리한다. 이를 위해 기존의 깃허브 정보 요약 서비스들이 제공되어졌으나, 정보 공유의 불편함과 많은 정보를 담지 못한다는 불편함이 존재했다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 불편함을 해소하기 위해 서버 기반의 깃허브 웹 명함 제작 및 멀티플랫폼에서의 서비스를 기반으로 한 효율적인 개발자 명함 생태계 구축을 제안한다. 본 서비스에서는 Next.js 기술을 활용한 한 명함 제작 및 웹, 앱 클라이언트를 통한 명함 관리 기능을 제공한다. Github oauth를 통해 인증된 정보를 바탕으로 Next.js를 활용해 사용자에 대한 정보를 정해진 형식으로 요약한 명함을 제작한다. 제작된 명함은 웹 / 앱 플랫폼을 기반으로 관리되며, 추가적으로 명함의 공유 및 저장 기능을 수행한다. 이를 통해, 명함 공유를 바탕으로 한 개발자 네트워크 형성을 목표로 한다.
