  • Purpose: This study analyzes the optimal operation scheme of childcare centers in Korea to maximize the quality of childcare service by determining the number of children and number of teachers. Methods: This study employs a mathematical programming methodology called 'nonlinear integer programming (NLIP)' to solve the optimization problems and compare the quality of childcare service of optimal solutions with those of present operation scheme. Results: It is very successful in obtaining the optimal solutions for alternative capacities and they guarantee the substantial improvement in the quality of childcare service. Conclusion: Though more variables should be adapted for defining the quality of childcare service robustly, it is possible to conclude that childcare centers should modify their operation scheme to improve the quality of childcare service.

Specifically, the effects of difference education quality on student satisfaction and loyalty in the context of education quality are examined. Methods: A model of difference education quality effect on student satisfaction and loyalty is introduced and tested in the university using student perceptions of provider. Questionnaire was developed, and data was collected and analyzed for this study with SEM(Structural Equation Modeling). Results: The results are as follows: Education capability, BNIE(Business Newspaper In Education) are significantly influenced on student satisfaction. In addition, student satisfaction is significantly influence on external customer satisfaction, professor image. Professor image is significantly influence on student loyalty. Conclusion: Upon learning of student need and want, professor can focus on development of difference education quality based on student need and want.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find that university advertising and PR which are five factors influence on prep students are choosing university. Methods: The collected data through the survey using causal effect relationship. Results: The results of this study are as follows; First university advertising positive influence on choosing university. Especially, high school visiting and recommend of home room teacher are strong influence on the university choosing Conclusion: Today, regional universities are now intense competition between schools to attract students. Thus they must suggest short-and long-term strategy, vision of university, IEP, industrial-educational cooperation, international program and others for prep students through university advertising and PR.

  • Purpose: System availability and life cycle cost are often used to evaluate the system performance and is influenced by the operation and maintenance characteristic. In this paper, we propose the method to improve life cycle cost and satisfy the target availability through redundancy allocation. Methods: We consider the redundancy is available at all items in multi level system. Thus, we assume that sub-assembly, module, components can be duplicated. Simulation and genetic algorithm are employed to optimize redundancy allocation. Results: Target availability is higher, the life cycle cost is increased. In addition, the items for redundancy are selected at higher level in multi level system if target availability is higher. Conclusion: We could know that target availability affects the duplication number of items and the selection of redundancy items. For further study, we will consider new optimization algorithms to compare with the proposed GA algorithm and improve optimization performance.

  • Purpose: This paper evaluates the performance of the pre-control(PC), an alternative to statistical process control techniques and compares with a control chart considering the tolerance of process. Methods: The previous studies for PC have drawbacks that PC with two linked stages, qualification and running, are discussed separately and independently. Hence this paper analyzes the performance of PC by integrating two stages. Results: Average outgoing quality limits to grasp the outcome of PC are provided by computational results for two process capability indexes, $C_p$ and $C_{pk}$ and the usefulness of PC from comparative experiments with modified control charts is commented. Conclusion: Helpful guidelines for quality managers to apply PC in practice and areas of process for PC to be more benefit are presented.

  • Purpose: To find out the appropriate probability distribution of credit card usage behavior by considering the relationship among income, expenditure and credit card usage amount. Such relationship is enabled by Korea's especially high penetration of credit card. Method: Goodness-of-fit test and effect size statistic W were used to identify the distribution of income and credit card usage amount. A simulation model is introduced to generate the credit card transactions on individual user level. Result: The three data sets for testing had either passed the chi-square test or showed low W values, meaning they follow the exponential distribution. And the exponential distribution turned out to fit the data sets well. The r values were very high. Conclusion: The credit card usage behavior, denoted as the counts of users by usage amount band, follows the exponential distribution. This distribution is easy to manipulate, has a variety of applications and generates important business implications.
