The development if separation technology is an important research subject as is clear from its role in the Japanese government's research abd development program for basic technology for the next generation (1981~1990). Japan is poor not only in mineral resources but also in energy resources and if a sudden change occurs in oil producing facility or an accident occurs in a nuclear power plant, then energy policy must undergo changes and economic foundations may collapse. Japan has already experienced this. Although, oil prices are stable at present and Japan can import oil at low cost due to the yen appreciation, Japan needs to promote development work for any new energy crisis that may come in the future. This has been the motive for gas separation membrane development in Japan.

A comparative analysis on mantle communities in South Korea and Japan was carried out. The study was accomplished by using syntaxa and hierarchical system of mantle communities in South Korea and Japan through Zurich-Montpellier School's method, and also achieved comparison on syntaxonomy, synecology, syndynamics and syngeography between two countries. Mantle communities in South Korea and Japan were defined to the Rosetea multilorae representing mantle vegetation in Northeast Asia. Mantle communities in Japan showed much diverse than those in South Korea. Mantle communities in South Korea and Japan considerably corresponded between the two. Results of the current study will make possible to accumulate qualitative $\bullet$quantitative informations on mantle communities in Northeast Asia. And the subsidiary knowledge from this study will provide practical data on comparative analysis about whole mantle communities in Northeast Asia.

This study analysis the market status and competitive structure of Korean fishery in Japan import market, and derive policy implications for seeking main causes. Specifically', trade state between Korea and Japan is discovered and theoretical model is also used to analysis competitiveness between two countries. And then real measuring methods of competitive index is Introduced, the status of Korean fishery products in Japan import market is analysed totally through the study of comparative predominance and export competition. The analysis is based on the statistical methods such as RCA, RMI, and CMS. In summary, first, Korean fishery products have the comparative predominance in Japan, China and Thailand, but they have the comparative inferiority in USA, considering research results. Second, competitiveness of fishery products between Korea and in Japan import market extreme, relatively, competitiveness of Korean fishery products for Thailand's fishery products is lowest. Third, Korean fishery products maintain unconstant pattern, but competitive inputs result in increasing export to Japan generally.

This study focuses on red snow crabs for fisheries cooperation in South Korea, North Korea, and Japan. South Korea, North Korea, and Japan have had experience in promoting red snow crab fisheries cooperation. However, this cooperation is now discontinued. South Korea, North Korea, and Japan are required to play a role in mediating South Korea in order to promote red snow crabs fisheries cooperation. South Korea has the capacity to carry out economic intervention in North Korea and Japan. This is even more so in the red snow crabs. On the other, South Korea, North Korea and Japan's red snow crabs fisheries cooperation can develop into Northeast Asian fisheries cooperation including Russia and China. This can be done through the major fisheries of the East Sea, the squid and the alaska pollocks. The role of the Korean peninsula is important in Northeast Asian fisheries cooperation.

In the past decade, Korea and Japan have increasingly exhibited different strategic priorities in trade in face of China's rising global economic prowess and worsening US-China trade conflict. Japan's trade policy decisions have worked to reinforce its economic and security ties with the US as a means to counter China. Japan has used both bilateral and multilateral means to secure its ties with the US against China. In contrast, Korea's trade policy positions have been one of 'strategic ambiguity'. Korea has been more conciliatory towards China, reluctant to take actions that would counter China's interest. Korea has mainly resorted to bilateral channels to maintain favorable relations with both China and the US. Korea's reluctance to clearly ally with the US against China has been observed across different administrations with opposing political orientations. This paper examines Korea and Japan's diverging strategic priorities in trade through the 2017 World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference; the 2017 US imposition of Section 232 on steel; the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Korea-US FTA renegotiation and the Korea-China FTA Phase Two Negotiation; and the 2019 Japan-US Trade Agreement.

Genus Cirsium (Asteraceae) from Japan is revised based on both field and herbarium examinations. As a result it is clarified that the Cirsium flora of Japan is consisted of more than 120 species and that several groups are considerably diversified in the Japanese Archipelagoes. Here two instances will be shown for the diversification. The northern maritime group (sect. Onotrophe subsect. Littoralicola), a recently recognized group, is differentiated in the maritime regions of Honshu and Hokkaido. The Cirsium kagamontanum group (sect. Onotrophe subsect. Reflexae), the most diversified group in Japan, is differentiated mainly in the cool temperate zone of Honshu and Shikoku.

The high speed and sensitivity array test system has been developed and utilized for massproduction of advanced LTPS displays including SOG and OLED. It realizes fast enough TACT enabling 100% inspection with better than 1fF sensitivity. The result of actual measurement shows its superior TACT and sensitivity, and also shows MURA detection of OLED panel.

1) A method to realize active vibration control using SAC and acceleration type sensor is proposed from the viewpoint of practical application. 2) The use of acceleration type sensor makes it easy to satisfy ASPR condition in applying SAC system and to implement sensor in practical mechanical system. 3) Results were confirmed through numerical simulation of 1 DOF vibration system.

Proxy data in the historical period in Japan since the 9th century has been first described and their analyzed fluctuation series were shown. Secondly, the climatic records before and after the Meiji restoration in 1868 were mentioned. Thirdly, available date sets of historical climatic records in Japan are listed. Lastly, published records and tables for Japan during the recent years were overviewed. Some discussion on the climatic records and tables is given as concluding remarks.
